Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Ultimate Edition Announced

Posted on March 11, 2013 by Les Major

We reached out to Ubisoft for an update to our Wallace Wells and multiplayer article that was just posted. Talk about luck! Ubisoft just announced Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Ultimate Edition today which includes the DLC pack, as well as the seperate pricing if you already own the original title.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Ultimate Edition includes both the Knives Chau Add-On Pack and the Online Multiplayer + Wallace Pack from the original game. All for $14.99 on PSN or even better, $11.99 for PS Plus members! No word yet on an XBLA version, but odds are one is on the way for a similar 1200 points. The DLC pack featuring Wallace Wells and multiplayer is available seperately for $4.99 ($3.99 PS Plus price). From the sounds of it, the DLC comes out… tomorrow! March 12th! I guess I waited just long enough to ponder about this content again. Talk about timing! Read on for the official descriptions from the Playstation site, as well as the trailer for the original game and some multiplayer action from CVG.Read More

Assassin’s Creed IV Trailer Revealed

Posted on March 4, 2013 by Jason Nason

Ubisoft revealed the first official trailer for their upcoming game Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag early this morning. The trailer is very much a teaser that features a pirate captain describing the main character of the game.

The year is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established their own lawless Republic. Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag introduces Edward Kenway, a brash rebel Pirate Assassin. His fight for glory has earned him the respect of legends like Blackbeard, but also drawn him into the ancient war between Assassins and Templars, a war that may destroy everything the pirates have built. Ubisoft To Unveil Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag March 4th

Posted on February 28, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

The next entry the annual Assassin’s Creed franchise will be a full fledged numbered sequel. Unveiled on Ubisoft’s facebook page the game is titled Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and the reveal image conveys very clearly that the game will revolve around piracy in some fashion.

It is unknown if the game will star AC III’s Connor or if the game features a new protagonist, but the protagonist’s clothing is awfully similar to Connor’s garb. Also given the end of the AC III, it will be interesting how sections that take place in the future work out (without spoiling anything major).Read More

Ubisoft Confirms Watch Dogs is Next Gen, New Demo Shown

Posted on February 20, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Since it was first reveled people have been excited for Watch Dogs. From the demo shown today at the 2013 PlayStation event it’s easy to see why. Through an extraordinary demo we see yet another dystopian look at how technology has changed. After some fly by shots of a beautiful open world, we see our protagonist who can interact with virtually everyone via his smart phone. Hack into the bank accounts of passers by and then use an ATM to withdraw their funds. After witnessing a case of domestic violence, our hero attempts to apprehend the perpetrator. This starts an epic chase scene that leads to him hearing a 911 call in real time, which in turn leads to a thrilling chase with police. This entire time you see the player hacking into technology. On the fly he is able to hack and stop a nearby monorail; he leaps onto the roof and allows it to speed away. If Watch Dogs truly can allow this level of interactivity that alters the course of game play I just can’t see a negative. Here’s hoping we will have more information on Watch Dogs soon.

Far Cry 3 | Review

Posted on January 29, 2013 by Eric Bastelak

Version tested: PlayStation 3

Now for a game that’s been called Skyrim with guns, what can I really say about Far Cry 3? How about this game is one of the best examples of character development in a game to date! Far Cry as a franchise has always been somewhat lacking, with great ideas and horrendous execution. Far Cry 3 clearly sought to change all of that. So follow me dear readers and embrace the path of the warrior.Read More

Posted on January 13, 2013 by Jason Fayta

Editor’s note: Staff at Broken Joysticks will be sharing their top five games, or game related stories, from 2012 throughout the week. We’re starting the feature with the top five from our contributing reviewer, Jason Fayta.

It’s hard to believe 2012 is over, and it’s equally hard to believe we’re already two weeks into 2013. Overall, I found 2012 to be a solid year for releases, but I can’t say there was a title I was completely enamored with, which lead to some difficulty in rounding out my top five releases from the year. However, as I went through my playing history, certain games began to stand out as titles I found most compelling, regardless of their flaws. So, without further ado, the top five…

New Assassin’s Creed III Patch Is Live

Posted on December 18, 2012 by Joshua Rust

I won’t lie, Assassin’s Creed III is amazing and buggy. Those two words don’t normally mesh and in order to take the buggy part out of the equation, Ubisoft has released a patch that fixes a bunch of stuff today!

– Fixed a crash when the player uses the rope dart on a horse from above

– Fixed horse glitch

– Fixed inventory messages that kept being displayed after every reload if the player had completed some missions

– Fixed various crashes

– Forced subtitles to be displayed for off-camera voices like some tutorials and end of sequence transitions

– Made sure to stop tavern music when exiting taverns
SEQUENCE 1 – A DEADLY PERFORMANCE: fixed a music glitch by making a cinematic not skippable
SEQUENCE 4 – FEATHERS AND TREES : fixed another case where optional objective “Do not touch the ground or water” could fail for no good reason
SEQUENCE 6 – ON JOHNSON’S TRAIL: fixed a bug where sometimes Adams and Revere could be missing, preventing the player from starting the mission
SEQUENCE 7 – LEXINGTON AND CONCORD: fixed a bug where the player could stay stuck on the road while on horseback at a specific spot on the mission’s path
EPILOGUE – Fixed Animus Synching gameplay that could get stuck
Side Quests

– Boston Brawlers: clearer message after beating all ex-champions, stating that you need to go back to Boston

– Boston Underground: fixed a bug where exploded barrels could come back if you re-entered through the South Commons entrance.

– Boston Underground: fixed a bug where Haytham could never use the North Port entrance

– Liberation Missions: added unfogging of the map when the player gets near a liberation event, to make sure the icon will be revealed in case the player doesn’t complete it and wants to come back later.

– New York Liberation Missions: fixed a few cases where the player could get to the event’s icon but nothing would happen.

– New York Underground, fixed a bug where the player would be teleported at the center of New York if he declined to enter the underground through the South Market entrance.

AC3 Returns With “The Tyranny of King Washington”

Posted on December 7, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

We all knew that Ubisoft wasn’t done with the Assassin’s Creed III era of their popular Templars vs assassins franchise. The next DLC adventure  in the series was unveiled at the Spike Video Game Awards 10. Titled AC III: The Tyranny of King Washington, this add-on focuses on an alternate time line where George Washington wasn’t a revered hero but an iron fisted monarch.

No platforms were announced in the reveal trailer but presumably it will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, PC just like this fall’s ACIII.

What do you think of Ubisoft taking the series into an alternate time-line using prominent American folk heroes? Sure figures like da vinci and Benjamin Franklin have appeared in previous games but the events of Tyranny of King Washington look to take history a lot less literally.

We will add a video to this article as soon as it becomes available!
