Ubisoft Has a New JRPG-Inspired Game in the Works

Posted on January 13, 2014 by Jason Nason

Ubisoft announced a new downloadable title was in the works back in September, and the game will be a JRPG inspired title. Child of Light centres around Aurora who, after falling ill, finds her soul transported from her home to the magical kingdom of Lemuria where the Black Queen had stolen the Sun, the Moon and the Stars.

Here is some of the details from the announcement:

Now that her soul is in Lemuria, Aurora must find the missing light sources and defeat the Black Queen to restore the kingdom. Guiding her through the darkness is a floating ball of light named Igniculus, who can be controlled by a second player. Aurora and Igniculus have entirely different playstyles. There will be places Igniculus can travel but Aurora cannot, in addition to their skills during battle. Aurora is the recognizable RPG standard – attacking and defending against enemies using magic and her massive sword – while Igniculus uses his light source to blind enemies and slow them down, directly heal comrades and collect orbs to restore the party member’s health and mana.

Say Goodbye to Ubisoft’s UPlay ‘Service’

Posted on November 6, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Whether you call them ‘online passes’ or ‘services’ initiatives like Electronic Art’s Project ten dollar and Ubisoft’s U-Play platform have been despised by some in the gaming community for gating off content from those who buy their games used. It looks like Ubisoft is following in the footsteps of EA and cancelling their U-Play passport service as well as refunding all those who purchased the pass for use with a used copy of the recently released Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. If you’ve purchased a used copy of Black Flag keep reading!

All of this seems to stem from the small controversy surrounding the use of the U-Play Passport in the latest animus adventure. Entering the pack-in code granted players access to a resource collecting mechanic called ‘Edward’s Fleet’. Similar to other resource collection methods in previous entries, Fleet allows Players to send their hired hands off on the far seas to collect in-game currency. The big difference is that in prior games these mini games were never locked, as they provide invaluable cash used to upgrade your fellow assassins as well as the main protagonist.

Ubisoft cited the continuing connectivity seen in modern games, even during their single player content as the reason for the discontinuation of U-Play. They’ve also stated that in the future purchasing an Ubisoft title will grant players access to all features.

Posted on October 16, 2013 by Kintarius

Hotly anticipated Ubisoft titles Watch Dogs as well as The Crew are being postponed until next year – Spring 2014 for Watch Dogs and an ambiguous fiscal year 2015, meaning it could release as early as April 2014.

Ubisoft released a statement concerning the delay.

“Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until Spring 2014.”Read More

Rainbow Six: Vegas & MTG 2013 Free on Xbox This September

Posted on August 30, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Free games make the world go ‘round, okay maybe not but they make even the most bitter days just a little bit sweeter.  The next two free games in Microsoft’s ‘game with gold’ program have been announced as Ubisoft’s 2006 tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Vegas and the 2013 edition of Magic The Gathering. MTG will be available from September 1st through the 15th and Vegas will report for duty from Sept 15th through the 30th. Both titles require an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to be redeemed.

Microsoft’s alternative to PlayStation Plus was announced this past June at E3 and has provided gamers with free digital copies of Assassin’s Creed II, Defense Grid: The Awakening, Dead Rising II + DLC, Halo 3 and soon the two games listed above. We can sit and argue which service provides the better library of free content, but one thing is certain – owners of the Xbox 360 now have a few more reasons to boot-up their consoles before the fall gaming seasons begins in just a few short weeks.

Which games would you like to see on Game With Gold? Let us know in the comments section, we will keep you posted on any future free DLC.

Watch_Dogs CGI Trailer Leaks Before Ubisoft Conference

Posted on June 9, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get an advanced look at Ubisoft’s Watch_Dogs before their official E3 conference tomorrow at 3PM, thanks to the leak of the game’s E3 trailer. Sadly the whole thing is CGI, and doesn’t contain an ounce of gameplay, but perhaps an on stage demo will after this trailer is screened.

The trailer deals with protagonist Aiden Pearce hunting down an alleged Human Trafficker whom we see in the trailer is using the excuse of being “stuck in the office”, as his excuse to manage an elaborate human trafficking facility. I don’t want to spoil anymore about the trailer, but needless to say that Pearce’s vigilante justice on the human traffickers is pretty badass.

Watch_Dogs is due out on Xbox 360, PS3, Ps4, Xbox One and PC on November 19th.Read More

Microsoft’s April Fool’s Day Sale Is No Joke

Posted on April 1, 2013 by Joshua Rust

For today and today only, yes on April Fool’s Day, Microsoft is offering a pretty nice price cut on some DLC, Season Passes, and a Games On Demand game. Normally, I really hate even posting news on April Fool’s Day because I don’t get into that kind of thing but this is legit and you need to act now as these savings only last today. Ranging from Assassin’s Creed 3, Fallout 3, Battlefield, Dishonored, & The Amazing Spider-Man, there is just about something for everyone.

Granted it’s not a huge sale, but if you’ve been holding out on that Assassin’s Creed 3 Season Pass…now is the time to act!Read More

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Trailer

Posted on March 25, 2013 by Joshua Rust

I felt that the naval battles of Assassin’s Creed III is one of the best new features that has come to the franchise, which you can read my review here. Granted I don’t want Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag to be all about those naval battles, I do want to see a good “pirate” game so to speak. In Black Flag you will take on the role of Edward Kenway, who is the father of Haytham Kenway who you will remember from Assassin’s Creed III. Edward is a British pirate and member of the Assassin Order. You will take him all across the Caribbean to places like Havana, Kingston, & Nassau. Read More
