Today at the New York Toy Fair Activision announced a new Transformers video game, presumably to coincide with the release of the next Transformers movie, titled Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. With unfortunate layoffs at High Moon Studios, it appears that the new Transformers game will be in a new developers’ hands: Edge of Reality (whom is most memorable for The Incredible Hulk tie-in). Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is the sequel to the surprise hit Transformers: War For Cybertron. I managed to miss the predecessor, but thanks to some friends here at Broken Joysticks I got my hands on the sequel. Man does it feel good to be playing a good transformers game. The Transformers franchise has not been treated so well in recent years. With those terrible movies and all, I’m glad to see developer High Moon Studios has such high respect for the source material.Read More

Transformers DinBots DLC Arrives On Tuesday

Tranformers War for Cybertron expands beyond the Autobots and Decepticons with the release of Dinobot Destructor Pack on September 11th 2012, that’s this Tuesday! This DLC adds four new playable characters, each with their own alternate Dinosaur transformations. The free DLC will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Here’s the full list of all of the new characters:
- GRIMLOCK (T-rex)
- SLUG (Triceratops)
- SNARL (Stegosaurus)
- SWOOP (Pteranodon)

Okay so as I’ve said before, I loved Transformers: War for Cybertron and in case you were wondering the sequel is still kicking and today we learned more about it. They’ve given us a release date and it’s just over a month away. August 21st baby. So in case the slow season of summer has been getting to you, now you’ll have a story worth playing. Optimus Prime: Heart of a Leader

High Moon Studios has released short feature for their upcoming Transformers: Fall of Cybertron featuring game director Matt Tieger and legendary voice actor Peter Cullen. Cullen, who has been the voice of Optimus Prime since the early 80’s, says about having played the role for so long, “although he’s consistent, doing a movie, and doing an episodic television series, and then doing a video game… although the character remains the same, there’s a different intensity and different approaches.”

Looks like the folks at High Moon Studios have been listening to the glorious outrage from fans of Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron. With that we here at Broken Joysticks are proud to report a PC version of the game will launch August 28th 2012 along with it’s console counterparts. This is huge news for PC fans who loved the first game in the series. The game was very underated in my opinion so its great to see the sequel being given to everyone. Game on my dear readers. Fall of CyberTron DinoBots Trailer

High Moon Studio’s next Transformers game, Fall of Cybertron, brings the Dinobots into the fray. In this latest developer diary describe the origin of Dinobots is explained along with how they fit into the Transformers canon. Did you know that the Dinobots came about because some of the early transformers scanned prehistoric earth for new destructive forms?
According to the Dev Diary there have been many different origin stories for the Dinobots and this just happens to be the one that they decided upon. I think it would be pretty badass to rip around CyberTron tearing through the scenery asa giant robot would be pretty bad ass.
Fall of Cybertron will be released on PS3, Xbox and PC on August 28th 2012. Check out the brand new trailer after the jump!
