Nintendo Posts 30 Minute The Legend of Zelda Orchestra Concert

Posted on February 10, 2024 by Rae Michelle Richards

Today Nintendo posted a 30 minute concert featuring music from last year’s Tears of the Kingdom, 98’s The Ocarina of Time and even handheld classics like Link’s Awakening.

The release of this collection of greatest hits from the near 40 year old franchise was part of Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024.

It is expected that Nintendo will release a similar Splatoon related concert sometime tomorrow on their YouTube channel.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Releases This July

Posted on February 18, 2021 by Rae Michelle Richards

A beloved game in The Legend of Zelda series is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer and it is not exactly as some fans had hoped, but still looks absolutely wonderful.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has been remastered for HD docked and portable play on the Nintendo Switch. Whether a returning veteran or experiencing this gem from 2011 for the first time – Skyward Sword is one of the best games in the franchise and my personal choice for best narrative told across the entire franchise.

The Switch version of course brings new high fidelity graphics but that’s not the only improvement – for the first time (officially, it’s been possible on emulators for years) Skyward Sword will be playable using a traditional controller or a Switch/Switch Lite in handheld mode. The original release required the Nintendo Wii MotionPlus accessory and motion controls were mandatory. With the HD remaster, sword swings can be mapped to an analogue stick.

While it’s not an HD collection like we got for the recent Mario anniversary, Skyward Sword looks wonderful in HD and I can’t wait to revisit it again!

Posted on February 15, 2017 by Jason Nason

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U consoles in less than a month and Nintendo is planning even more for this, one of the largest, most engaging video games Nintendo has ever created. While the main game offers players an engrossing quest that will keep them entertained for hours, as well as the freedom to explore the vast Hyrule at their own pace, the game world provides a rich canvas that offers the opportunity for additional adventures.

As a result, the first-ever downloadable content for the main-line Legend of Zelda series is in development.

New 30th Anniversary Legend of Zelda amiibo on the way

Posted on September 3, 2016 by Jason Nason

The Legend of Zelda is kind of a big deal. But if you’re here you already know that.

During the Nintendo Direct on Thursday Nintendo announced some news about The Legend of Zelda. Not only is the newest game, Breath of the Wild, set for release on the Wii U and NX in March, but The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, previously released on the Wii console, launches for the Virtual Console service today in Nintendo eShop for Wii U. Plus we were reminded that the original game that launched the Zelda franchise will be included when the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition launches on November 11th.

But for the 30th Anniversary of the franchise we’re also getting some celebratory new amiibo.

This holiday season Nintendo will release four special amiibo figures: 8-Bit Link, Ocarina of Time Link and a two-pack that includes both Toon Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. These amiibo will work the same as Super Smash Bros. series Link, Toon Link and Zelda amiibo, and will also have special functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild when it launches next year.

The amiibo will be released on December 2nd.

Wolf Link Amiibo Compatible With Breath Of The Wild

Posted on June 15, 2016 by Les Major

Did you nab up a copy of Twilight Princess HD? Well Wolf Link’s amiibo is getting new life in The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild! We’re not too sure on how it works if you don’t play the Cave of Shadows in Twilight Princess, but Wolf Link can join your new adventure! That’s right, two Link’s at the same time! Have Wolf Link join… well whoever this Link is! What do you think? Who is this new Link? An old friend, or a new lineage of the Hyrule legend?

For those of you who did break down and get an import stand alone amiibo, it looks like he may still be compatible without Cave of Shadows data. A stage show from E3 showed a Wolf Link amiibo being tapped in that only came up at three hearts. This may be the default if no other data is detected.

Check out the trailer below to see Wolf Link in action in The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at E3

Posted on June 15, 2016 by Jason Nason

Nintendo spent much of Tuesday spotlighting and showing off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and it looks amazing.

In the little that was previously revealed about the game, one of the things that was touted was the amount of open world there would be in the game. And in what was shown so far at E3 that is an understatement. The world is immense, and only a small fraction of that world was shown off today.

I won’t go into too much detail with all of that though. You can read the details directly from Nintendo’s release below.

But also announced was three brand new ammibo, which will be released in 2017. These will presumably be released day and date with the game.

The Legend of Zelda x Miitomo retweet event

Posted on June 10, 2016 by Jason Nason

After the successful Splatoon x Miitomo retweet event, Nintendo is at ait again. This latest retweet event will cross over Nintendo’s mobile application with The Legend of Zelda.

All Miitomo users will receive a “Link’s new hair wig” if at least 10,000 retweets are reached from one of three official tweets from Nintendo’s accounts with the hashtag #Miitomo_Zelda_RT. If 20,000 retweets are reached then all users will also a “Link wig” for their Mii character.

The deadline for the retweets was set at June 13th, 2016 at 10:59 a.m. ET, but as of now that number has already been blown out of the water. Being a worldwide retweet event the total retweets are being combined.

Combined retweets so far have already reached 32,000 retweets.

Nintendo America reaffirms only Zelda playable at E3

Posted on May 5, 2016 by Jason Nason

Nintendo confirmed today that The Legend of Zelda will be the only playable game at E3 and will be the company’s focus at E3. Sadly.

Nintendo will transform its booth at the E3 video game trade show next month in Los Angeles to immerse fans in the world of the newest game in The Legend of Zelda franchise – playable for the first time ever at the show. To ensure attendees are able to truly experience the freedom of exploration the game offers, The Legend of Zelda for Wii U will be Nintendo’s focus of the show this year, and will be the only playable game in Nintendo’s booth via extended demos.

At E3 this year, we’re treating people to an immersive Zelda experience,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “By giving attendees extended hands-on time with this remarkable game, they’ll be able to get a much deeper understanding of something new for the franchise.”

Nintendo NX Dated For March 2017, Newest Zelda To Launch for NX / Wii U

Posted on April 27, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Some huge news came out of the Nintendo Japan financial call for investors this morning relating to Nintendo’s next console, codenamed NX, and the next The Legend of Zelda game. It is typical for companies to slide little tidbits of unknown information in their investor’s reports or on earnings calls in order to assure investors that the company is heading in a safe direction.

Confirmed via Nintendo of America’s official Twitter account, as well as on Nintendo of Japan’s Twitter account, the Nintendo NX will ship worldwide in March 2017. This of course flies in the face of rumors that Ninty was ramping up production for a Fall or holiday season release. It was also confirmed that the NX will not be at this year’s E3 Expo in Los Angeles. That news sounds disheartening, but it wouldn’t stop Nintendo from unveiling the console at a pre-show Nintendo Direct or a similar presentation sometime after the show.

Regarding the newest The Legend of Zelda title, previously confirmed for a Wii U release, Nintendo announced through their financial call that the game will be released simultaneously for both systems sometime in 2017.  This is the second time The Legend of Zelda has been delayed since its gameplay reveal at E3 2014.

What are your thoughts on The Legend of Zelda being released simultaneously on both platforms? Will it be the Wii release of Twilight Princess all over again?

Hyrule Warriors Legends | Review

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a scaled down version of the hit Wii U title of last year, and while it does fall victim to a few flaws it is overall a fun title. That being said, if you have the original Hyrule Warriors Wii U version and can do without all of the new DLC that has been added to the game then the game is an easy pass.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is once again a co production between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo and mixes the Zelda characters and universe with the hack-and-slash gameplay from the Dynasty Warriors series.

The big draw to the new edition of the game is of course the new added characters. The game features not only all of the DLC from the Wii U original title, but also has five new characters packed into the game. And that’s not including any unannounced playable characters included in the upcoming DLC. New to Hyrule Warriors Legends are Linkle, a girl who wields two crossbows and lives in a small village filled with Cuccos, Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and characters from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, including Toon Link, King Daphnes and Tetra.

Twilight Princess HD amiibo Functionality Detailed

Posted on January 22, 2016 by Jason Nason

When The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD launches on March 4th it will include a Wolf Link amiibo figure based on the same character from the classic game.

When tapped to the Wii U GamePad controller, the Wolf Link amiibo will open the Cave of Shadows, a challenging new bonus dungeon in the game. After completing the Cave of Shadows, players can save their remaining hearts to the Wolf Link amiibo, and then use those hearts inside the Cave of Shadows to replenish life energy. After conquering the cave, players can save a record of their remaining hearts to the Wolf Link amiibo and attempt to beat their score at any time.

Some of the data stored on the Wolf Link amiibo figure can also be used with The Legend of Zelda game for Wii U, which launches this year. More details about that functionality will be revealed at a later date.

Perhaps at E3?
