SEGA Announces The Cave

Posted on May 24, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Adventure games have seen somewhat of a revival this year with Double Fine’s Kickstarter project raising a lot of money and positive press for the company. One adventure game just wasn’t enough for them as they announce a partnership with SEGA to publish Ron Gilbert’s The Cave sometime in early 2013.

In The Cave you will assemble a team of unlikely heroes to traverse a vast array of different landscapes. What other game can boast that you’ll be scaling the walls of a medieval castle one minute and trying to stop the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile the next?Read More

Virtua Fighter V Final Showdown Debuts on June 5th

Posted on May 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Sega of America and Sega Europe announced today that the upcoming upgrade to 2007’s Virtua Fighter 5 will be coming to both the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network on June 5th. The game will be priced at $15.99 USD on PSN and 1200 Microsoft points on Xbox Live. This is certainly not a bad deal for a game that would have cost $59.99 just a few years ago.

Final Showdown brings several enhancements first introduced in the Arcade version of Virtual Fighter 5. It also gives console players a chance to check out two brand new characters and a new console specific training mode to help new players adjust to the Virtua Fighter world. A $4.99 DLC pack that adds additional customization options with over 400 in-game objects to help you customize your favorite fighter.

SEGA Announces $15,000 Virtua Fighter V Tournament

Posted on April 30, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

SEGA has announced that they will be holding a tournament for the upcoming Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown at the 2012 Evo Championships. The game itself won’t be part of the official EVO festivities but the $15,000 pot of prize money will be included as a side tournament at this year’s event.

SEGA’s tournament will be held sometime during EVO 2012, which will run from July 6 – 8th at Caesar’s Palace in Los Vegas. For those wondering why Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown did not qualify for this year’s EVO, a game must be commercially available up to six months prior to the date of the tournament. Alongside the announcement of the tournament SEGA also announced that the PS3 version of VF5 will be used during EVO.
