Super Mario Maker Drives Wii U Sales Up 110% For September!

Sales of Nintendo’s current generation platform, the Wii U increased an impressive 110% when compared with August 2015. Nintendo attributes this absolutely impressive uptick in sales to the release of Super Mario Maker which has moved over 500,000 units in the U.S.A since launching on September 11^th.

To quote Nintendo’s press-release, since they put it best:

Perhaps the biggest impact however has been on hardware sales. For the full month of September, sales of Wii U hardware in the United States increased by nearly 110 percent over sales in August. Software sells hardware and no one sells hardware like Mario.

Super Mario Maker sales data weren’t the only numbers included in Nintendo’s latest release. We also got some numbers for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer which solved over 115,000 units in its first week of release.

Sony’s Sales Strong Throughout Black Friday

After much counting and calculating, Sony revealed its Black Friday weekend sales figures, where the PlayStation 3 and Vita bundles made a solid consumer impact.

Thanks in part to the PlayStation 3 Ultimate Value Bundles, 525,000 PS3s were sold throughout which was an increase in bundled sales by 15% over last year.. Meanwhile, PS3 systems, games and accessories sales improved as well by 9%.The PlayStation Vita bundles (ACIII: Liberation, COD:BO:Declassified, Lego Batman 2) gave the ailing system a much-needed boost, contributing to 160,000 Vitas sold.

In another Sony sales surprise, the PlayStation Plus subscriptions have exploded, resulting in an increase of a whopping 259% of the PSN service over last year’s Black Friday. Thanks in part to the myriad of discounted and free products that PlayStation Plus users can take advantage of, the service has received an overall customer satisfaction rating of 95%.

Wii U U.S Sells 475 000 Units In First Week

Nintendo’s Wii U has dominated our frontpage over the last few weeks, especially after the system’s launch on the 18th. We finally have our first look at sales figures according to the NPD group and things are looking up for Nintendo’s next big thing.

The install base for the Wii U currently sits at 475,000 as of the 25^th according to the Big N, not too shabby. Considering GameStop claimed to have 500,000 units already paid for by consumers, are there 100,000 Wii Us still unclaimed? That’s doubtful! With systems already fetching $500 or more on ebay demand is surely only going to increase as Christmas Day approaches.
