Broken Deals: FFXIV, PSN Flash Sale, Sonic & More

Posted on January 22, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The weekend is finally here – a time for most of us to kick back, relax and possibly catch up on our massive backlog of games. Except with the awesome deals that both Steam and a surprise Sony Flash Sale are offering it is more probably than not that more games will end up in your backlog rather than being completed.

Some of the highlights include: 30 Days of game time with the fantastic FFXIV for $10.99 CDN, Sonic Generations for less than $10 CDN – which is a steal by the way every Sonic fan should play this game, Cross-buy on Rogue Legacy for $4.00 USD and the gory yet surprisingly funny Surgeon Simulator for $3.20 USD.

Here is a partial list of all of the deals available this weekend that I found appealing. Other discounts await you on the other side of these links as well.

Happy gaming!

Rogue Legacy Scratches That Metroidvania Itch

Posted on July 27, 2013 by Les Major

Sure, it’s not exactly the same and has a bit of a lighter feeling of sorts, but Rogue Legacy combines the randomness of classic “Rogue like” games and the side scrolling exploration of Metroidvania style Castlevania advetures. Eager as I am for a new Castlevania title like the DS and Symphony of the Night games, I dove into Rogue Legacy hoping for somewhat of the same feel and I’m having fun!

The biggest complaint I’ve heard about the game is how it’s more so a grind getting gold that you then use to choose parts of your keep to improve to level up. However the focus of the game also is the whole Legacy aspect of the title, meaning when your character dies you continue your legacy with a chosen heir. Each of the three choices you’re given after each death can potentially have unique features, such as various visual impairments or even some traits that work as a bonus. Check out the trailer after the break to see what I mean.Read More
