Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny Free On PlayStation Plus

Posted on April 23, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

PSP and PS Vita owners looking for something new to play can download Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny for free as long as they are PlayStation Plus subscribers. Regularly this portable fighter retails for $39.99 on the PS Store, so its quite a value,.

Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny was originally released on September 1st 2009, and features quick match mode, which pits the player against a number of A.I opponets, a tutorial mode similar to weapons mater mode, from Soulcalbur II and of course a single player story mode. This was also the first fighting game to feature Sony’s Kratos from the God of War franchise, two years before Nether Realm studios had him facing off against Scoripion. Sub-zero and the other Kombatants.

I’m sure some people would have prefered to see a PS Vita exclusive fighter, but it is nice to see Sony still supporting their previous handheld after all of these years.

N.I.S’ Disgaea franchise has been delighting Strategy RPG fans for almost a decade now with its quirky sense of humor, colorful art style and awesome writing. If you missed out on the original PS2 version of Disgaea 2, Cursed Memories, or its PSP remake, Dark Hero Days, than the news that the original version is heading to the PSN through Ps2 Classic may interest you.

Price at $9.99 it should be accessible to even the most frugal gamers among us. If you haven’t to your feet wet with this franchise, perhaps this is a great starting point. Check  out a few of the key features of the game as provided by the folks over at NIS America after the jump.

Celebrate The Olympics With NBA 2K13

Posted on August 15, 2012 by Seung Lee

It’s the 20th anniversary of the USA’s “Dream Team” for the Basketball event at the Olympics, and 2K Games is celebrating by including the 1992 and 2012 teams in NBA 2K13. Jay-Z, the executive producer behind 2K13, states that he made the decision to have these two crews in the game so that people could settle “one of the greatest sports debates of our time.”

I’ve never heard people hype up the 2012 team, and probably for good reason. You just can’t compete against people like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Scottie Pippen. Although, Pippen appears to be absent in the featured image above with the 1992 team.

NBA 2K13 will be released on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, PC, and Wii on October 2, 2012. Check out the game’s official website here.

That’s A Lot Of Levels For LittleBigPlanet

Posted on August 6, 2012 by Seung Lee

LBP

Media Molecule, the team behind LittleBigPlanet, has revealed today that seven million levels (and still going strong!) have been created across all of the games for the franchise. It hasn’t been too long since the very first LBP was released on the PS3 in ’08. Now, I’m not going to say each of these seven million levels are amazing, or worth your time to play, but you can’t say that you’re not getting bang for your buck with a LBP game.

Check out Media Molecule’s blog post celebrating the recent accomplishment here, and see the picture detailing it here.

Atlus Releases New Gungnir Screenshots

Posted on May 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Atlus has released a whole series of screenshots from the North American version of their upcoming strategy RPG game Gungnir.

Gameplay is divided between two different phases, event scenes and strategy battles using the traditional Strat-RPG formula similar to other titles in the genres. In between these two phases players have the ability to buy new weapons and armor to upgrade their party. Interestingly the game also includes a special “easy mode” for new players to the genre. It is nice to see Atlus include mechanics for players who might pick up Gungnir without being entirely in the know.

Check out a gallery of screenshots after the jump. Gungnir will be released on June 12th at both brick and mortar stores as well as the PlayStation Network.Read More
