This month provides a little bit of the good, the bad, and the downright ugly on the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection front, this month, and I’m here to provide you a little insight on what you’re getting, this month, in case you didn’t rush out and get the games already or missed out on them.
Final Fantasy XIV patch 3.1 – the first major content drop since this past June’s release of Heavensward – arrives in just a week’s time and the devs have given us a small glimpse at the brand new extreme version of Thordan’s Reign.
Spoiler warning for the end of FFXIV: Heavensward follow
As players who have finished the main story question know the game ends with a pretty epic encounter between the Warrior of Light, King Thordin – now in his primal form – and the Knights of the Round. Based upon this epic final encounter Eorzya’s Minstrel Bard has constructed an even more fantastical tale of survival with the extreme version. This 8 player encounter will require you to have at least ilevel 190 – so make sure you have all of your drops of Alexander collected or gear from the Tomes of Essoterics before taking on Thordin EX.
Still no details on what Thordan’s Reign Extreme will drop… perhaps an ilevel 210 weapon? We’ll find out once FFXIV 3.1 drops on November 10th. Until then check out some screenshots from the encounter that Square Enix released.
After a bit of a delay and some leaks November’s PlayStation Plus line-up has been revealed over on the PlayStation Blog.

Also on the PlayStation 4 is Paradox Interactive’s sequel to the 2011 co-op action adventure original. PS3 owners will receive Bioware’s excellent RPG sequel Mass Effect 2 and Ubisoft’s Beyond Good & Evil HD, while PlayStation Vita owners will snag Invizimals (Not sure if it’s the original PSP release or the Vita sequel) and the brand new Dragon Soup.
Here’s the complete line-up:

Magicka 2, PS4
Mass Effect 2, PS3
Beyond Good & Evil, PS3

If you missed The Walking Dead Season One it is currently on sale for Halloween on the PlayStation store. We also reviewed The Walking Dead Season One: Episode One back when our site launched in 2012. Whether you’re enjoying the brand new Rogue Like/RPG Dragon Fin Soup or hiding from zombies in The Walking Dead there appears to be a lot of great stuff coming down the pipe for PlayStation Plus in November.
First off, I want to say that I’m a huge pinball fan since I got an Atari 2600 with Virtual Pinball back in 1995. I’d spend hours playing on it trying for a high score, so when I’m able to go to an arcade, I always hit up the pinball sections to see how high of a score I can get. So imagine my surprise when I was given an opportunity to try a themed pinball set for Zen Pinball 2.
After downloading the Fox Digital Entertainment Balls of Glory corroboration pack for Zen Pinball 2(ZP2), it came with four following boards to try out: Archer, Family Guy, American Dad, and Bob’s Burgers. At first glance, I noticed the most recently announced Archer board, and as being a big Archer fan, I immediately started it up to play. After starting it up, Archer’s theme played to my delight.
What Archer fan wouldn’t love to be able to play this?
With standard pinball fare, the player is able to rack up points by hitting bumpers, and by trying to complete minigames by hitting certain bumpers and objects a certain number of times, or though certain timed events. As an example for the latter, Archer’s cell phone rings and if you can light up the two small bumpers that are to the right of it, Archer will send it to one of his voicemail soundboards. It can be quite entertaining to listen to the small touches like this that the developers have put into the boards. One of the more unique minigames though is where it’s a first-person persepctive of Archer and you’re trying to shoot terrorists with a very limited ammo supply, all the while not trying to shoot friendly targets.
Fans clinging to hope that the long awaited Persona 5 would make its worldwide release this fall have had their hopes dashed with the announcement that the game would now ship sometime in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. This isn’t the first delay for the fifth entry in the Persona series, during the games original 2013 unveiling a “Winter 2014” release widow was promised.
In a brief statement Atlus USA had this to say:
The strengths of the Persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae – elements which can’t be rushed or taken lightly. So while ATLUS realizes the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the JRPG-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the Persona series lives up to the expectations of fans.
Hopefully the release of a brand new TGS trailer will appease the series’ hardcore fanbase. Clocking in at almost 4 minutes in length it is pretty hefty. Check it out below:
