A DmC Demo Is Coming, And Mundus Is Back

Posted on October 14, 2012 by Seung Lee

Great news for the few people that are actually excited for Ninja Theory’s DmC. Earlier at New York Comic Con, Capcom announced that the game will have a demo on the PS3 and Xbox 360, sometime before its actual release date. There was no word on a PC demo, though.

In addition, Mundus has been confirmed to be returning in DmC. If you’ve ever played the first Devil May Cry, you’ll remember that Mundus was the Demon King and big bad, which Dante had to defeat. It’s probably safe to say that Mundus will also be the main villain in DmC, or at least a major one. Lastly, people who care about story might be excited to know that the game will take a more in-depth look at Dante and Vergil’s parents: Sparda and Eva.

DmC is set to release on January 15, 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version’s release date is still up in the air.

After receiving small tidbits of info all this time, with pictures and a short trailer, Rockstar Games’s highly anticipated GTA V is finally going to come out with a huge coverage by Game Informer. Editor-In-Chief Andy McNamara tweeted a few moments ago that the December edition of the magazine will feature GTA V on the cover. Expect tons of new info on just about everything that the game’ll have to offer.

MW2’s Favela Is Being Benched, Possibly Forever

Posted on October 8, 2012 by Seung Lee

If you’ve ever played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, then you’ll probably remember playing on Favela, a map based on the Brazilian shanty towns. But, if you hop on MW2 right now, you’ll notice that it’s no longer in the map rotation for any of the game modes. That’s because some upset Muslims have banded together to demand Infinity Ward and Activision, the companies behind MW2, to remove the map from the rotation.

It’s a shame because Favela was one of my favorite maps on the game, but instigating heated arguments here isn’t in my interest. Would it kill the people who patched the game to at least patch One Man Army or Danger Close, though? I’m sure a lot more people (including myself) would play MW2 again, if we knew we wouldn’t be blown up every five seconds.

Mac Users Will Have To Wait A While For Torchlight II

Posted on September 27, 2012 by Seung Lee

Torchlight II, the underdog (in comparison to Borderlands 2) loot amassing RPG from Runic Games, is going to need a few months before it can play on the Mac, according to Runic Games CEO Matt Schaefer. During an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit, Schaefer replied to a few questions. One, was about what this article is about, and another was about the possibility of seeing Torchlight II in a Humble Indie Bundle in the future.

Torchlight II is currently out on the PC, however, and it can be purchased through many different digital distribution sources, such as Steam and GameFly. Check out its official site here. See the full Reddit AMA here.

Saints Row: The Third’s Compilation Disc In November Is Huge

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Seung Lee

One of 2011’s best (and goofiest) games, Saints Row: The Third, is receiving a compilation disc aptly named, Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package. Fans of the game from the states can expect it to hit stores on November 6, while international fans will see it on November 9. As the title implies, all of the DLC that’s ever been released for Saints Row: The Third will be on the disc (no vouchers, if you were worried about that).

Minecraft Is Getting Bats In Caves With Update 1.4

Posted on September 21, 2012 by Seung Lee

Bats have always been known to be real pains in the neck when exploring through a cave (Pokémon fans can probably attest to this). However, the bats that’ll be in Minecraft‘s spooky 1.4 update for October won’t actually do anything to you (well, they might frighten you). They’re only going to be active during the night, and will escape if you disturb them. Don’t expect any amazing loot to drop if you slay a bat, either.

PC Port of DMC: Devil May Cry Delayed

Posted on September 21, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Dante’s new look isn’t the only thing causing a stir in regards to DMC: Devil May Cry. Capcom confirmed yesterday that the PC version of the game will be delayed until after the console versions release. The Windows/Mac port is not being handled by Ninja Theory, the game’s developers, but rather by QLOC who handled the PC duties for the mediocre Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City and the pretty good Street Fighter X Tekken.

If you’re going to be buying Capcom games, maybe you should wait for the ULTRA SUPER DELUXE re-release of DMC. Although, I am uncertain as to what DLC they could possibly add to a traditionally linear game.

Jump Back Into Battlefield 3 With The Premium Edition

Posted on September 11, 2012 by Seung Lee

Don’t let the fact that Battlefield 4 is being worked on stop you from checking out the third game. Starting today, Battlefield 3 Premium Edition will be available on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC for the cost of $59.99 (used to be 10 bucks more before EA had a change of heart, strange). Now, if you’re wondering why you should even think about picking up the Premium Edition, keep in mind that it’ll come with a membership for Battlefield Premium (it’s like Call of Duty Elite, but much better in my opinion), which’ll give you free access to a ton of expensive map packs.

In addition to the membership, Battlefield 3 Premium Edition will also come with a “Multiplayer Head-Start Kit” that automatically unlocks 15 different weapons, gadgets, and vehicle upgrades, so new players won’t have to worry about starting off with lackluster equipment. So if you haven’t tried BF3 yet, and you want to, now’s the time to do so. For more info, visit the game’s official site here.

The Guys Behind Amnesia Are Working On A New Project

Posted on September 10, 2012 by Seung Lee

Well, before I go any further, props should be given to Frictional Games and its Amnesia: The Dark Descent for finally breaking the one million sale mark. But company owner Thomas Grip says in a blog post:

Despite that huge number of sales, what I think is more interesting is how good the monthly sales still are. Not counting any discounts, the monthly full price sales lie at over 10 000 units. This means that less then every 5th minute someone in the world is buying a copy of Amnesia. This is totally insane to me. The figures themselves are far beyond any guesses we would have made two years ago. It is also insane, because this number is actually higher than it was around three months after initial launch. That a game can still be going this good two years after is truly remarkable.  This success is due to many factors, some of which are the uniqueness of the game (horror games without combat do not really exist on PC), the large modding community (more on this later) and the steady flood of YouTube clips (which is in turn is fueled by the modding community output).

Posted on September 7, 2012 by Seung Lee

If you can’t wait to get your hands on the upcoming open-world MMOFPS from Sony Online Entertainment, Planetside 2, then the new Alpha Squad promotional package is absolutely for you. What is in this package, you may ask? Well, it gives you instant beta access, in-game exclusives such as XP boosts and guns, and a founder’s title.

The Alpha Squad will cost $39.99, but it’s well worth it if you want the upper hand in Planetside 2. Keep in mind that there’s going to be a lot of people playing the game, and some of them might be in the mood to kill. Planetside 2 is a PC game that’s still currently in a beta stage, and no official release date has been released yet. Check out the game’s official website here.

Ubisoft Is Saying Goodbye To Always-On DRM

Posted on September 5, 2012 by Seung Lee

PC gamers will be relieved to hear that Ubisoft is finally dropping its always-on digital rights management. If you remember Diablo III, that game required players to always be connected to the Internet in order to play. Ubisoft’s PC games will no longer be like that. Instead, Stephanie Perotti, Ubisoft’s worldwide director for online games, told Rock, Paper, Shotgun in an interview that all future titles will come with a “one-time online activation when you first install the game, and from then you are free to play the game offline.”

It may seem like a strange decision for Ubisoft, especially considering that the company’s PC games currently have a 93-95% piracy rate. Then again, perhaps the voices of disappointed gamers around the world finally managed to reach the higher-ups’ ears. After all, people will always find a way to sneak past things like DRM. All it did was annoy the people who actually bought the games.

Watch Other People Play DOTA 2 Today

Posted on August 21, 2012 by Seung Lee

Anyone who uses Steam can now download and install a free app for DOTA 2 that allows for spectating other players. How does it work, you may ask? Well, you can watch a match from a player’s perspective, or from a directed view. You can check out any recent or live matches, along with all of the future matches at The International tournament. Is this app mandatory in order to continue playing DOTA 2? Nope, but it’ll be added into the game when it officially releases.

I’m personally not a big fan of DOTA, but I know there’s a lot of people out there who do. If you’re wondering how you can improve your skills, then you may wanna check out a match or two from some pros.

DOTA 2 is set to release sometime this year on Steam, with a free-to-play business model. Check out the game’s official website here.
