Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS | REVIEW

Posted on October 5, 2014 by Jason Nason

I’ll admit it’s been a while since I’ve played a Super Smash Bros game. In fact, you would almost consider me a new player to the series. It’s been that long. And while I got on board early and played the original game on my Nintendo 64 way back in the day, I never got around to getting (or playing) either Brawl or Melee on the Gamecube or Wii.

Yeah. That long.

I still remember a day when you only had a small handful of characters to choose from and a small smattering of arenas in which to battle. The number of arenas in the new Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and the characters you have to choose from when you start the game, is massive. And varied.

Super Mario 3D Land | REVIEW

Posted on September 28, 2014 by Jason Nason

I don’t think there’s been a Super Mario game I haven’t enjoyed. From the very first game way back in 1985 on the NES up until today, every platforming Mario title has been thoroughly enjoyable.

Super Mario 3D Land is no exception.

Years ago when Nintendo realized that people were craving a traditional side scrolling platforming Mario title, the company car out with New Super Mario Bros. The game was a huge success for Nintendo and spawned sequels on the 3DS, Wii and Wii U.

This game takes all of the best elements of those games and takes it to the third dimension. Sure, there is Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, but those games were a whole new gameplay experience in themselves.

Could Fatal Frame 5 Get a Western Release?

Posted on September 28, 2014 by Jason Nason

The latest Fatal Frame game, which goes by the title Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko in Japan, was just released in Japan yesterday. The game is developed by Tecmo Koei and is exclusive to the Wii U. The English name for the game is Fatal Frame: Oracle of the Sodden Raven, though there hasn’t been any announcement of a North American release.

The game details were first announced on April 24th, 2014 by Koei Tecmo.

The concept of the game comes from Japanese-style horror which revolves around Japanese buildings, using cameras, and the fear of “getting wet”. The game takes place in a big environment involving mountains, lakes and graveyards. According to the game producer, Keisuke Kikuchi, there will be many damp areas and quite scary figures, like traditional Japanese ghost girls who appear completely drenched in water.

The game utilises engine technology from Dead or Alive 5, which you can see in the below video. Remember the term “jiggle physics?”

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Impressions

Posted on September 21, 2014 by Jason Nason

To say the game has been highly anticipated would be an understatement, so when I found out that Nintendo was releasing a demo for Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS I was very excited. Sure, the demo only features a mesely five fighters. Yes, there is only one stage to battle on in the demo. True, there is a limit to the number of times that the demo can be booted up before it expires.

But getting to play Super Smash Bros. before the North American release, which is just over two weeks away now, I’ll gladly take these limitations.

It’s time to Smash.
