Do A Barrel Roll With These Two Star Fox Zero Gameplay Videos

Posted on April 28, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Star Fox Zero

Earlier in the week, after all of the PAX East madness had subsided, my wife & I decided to do a co-op stream of Star Fox Zero. This take on the Star Fox series, the first console release since 2005, brings with it a unique control scheme that has players looking at the Wii U game pad and television screen simultaneously.

Our full review is still incoming, but for now I hope you’ll enjoy these two videos covering the game’s tutorial section and first real missions. In this co-op setup my wife controlled the Arwing’s movements with a Wii Remote and I used the Wii U game pad to control the artillery.

CAN’T LET YOU DO THAT, STAR FOX!

Nintendo: Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem apps on the way

Posted on April 27, 2016 by Jason Nason

Get ready for at least two more Nintendo apps for your smart phone this year. Nintendo announced that its next two mobile apps will be based on Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing franchises.

Nintendo plans to release both of these applications this fall.

For Fire Emblem, Nintendo plans to make it more accessible in comparison to the Fire Emblem games for Nintendo’s gaming systems. Nintendo said that it aims to offer the great value of a role-playing strategy game while make it more approachable.

Nintendo will design the Animal Crossing mobile game so that it will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for Nintendo platforms. They said that by playing both Animal Crossing games, users will find increased enjoyment. It’s not known if this is in relation to current Animal Crossing Games (New Leaf or Happy Home Designer) or if the app will be compatible with a new, unannounced Animal Crossing console game.

Nintendo has announced via their social media channels that their upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Metroid Prime: Federation Force will launch on August 19th! While many seem to have to resent the game, I think it honestly looks kinda fun.

I talked about the game over here

There’s still quite a while before the game hits release and there isn’t a ton of information or screens out there. Check out a trailer for the game and a few of the available screens below.

Star Fox Zero The Anime? You Can Check It Out Right Here

Posted on April 23, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Star Fox Zero

Nintendo recently released a 14 minute anime short to help promote yesterday’s launch for Star Fox Zero for the Wii U. Serving as an introduction to the major characters – Fox, Peppy, Slippy, Falco and General Pepper – it doesn’t exactly shed any new light on the Star Fox universe but it is still quite the treat for long time fans.

Like the game, the aesthetic of “The Battle Begins is very reminicint of Star Fox 64 and it can be quite amusing to see some of the long running anime tropes make their way into the Star Fox formula. Also if you happen to remember the introduction cinematic for SF64 look for a visual shoutout to that game about half way through this episode.

Production IG, famous for their work on Ghost In The Shell / The End of Evangelion & others handled the animation for “The Battle Begins”.

Animal Crossing was released 15 years ago

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

It’s hard to believe that Animal Crossing is fifteen years old as it only seems like yesterday I was sitting in my room playing the first game in North America on my Nintendo GameCube. It’s also hard to imagine that the game took up an entire memory card, which is why the original game came packaged with one.

The very first Animal Crossing game was released for the Nintendo 64 in Japan on April 14th, 2001. Since then there have been several releases across multiple generations, including the most recent spin offs Happy Home Designer and amiibo Festival.

To commemorate the day, Nintendo of Japan released a small gratitude video, showing the games through the years and thanking gamers for playing the games.

It’s been a wild ride (or Wild World) and hopefully there is a lot more to come.

Hyrule Warriors Legends | Review

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a scaled down version of the hit Wii U title of last year, and while it does fall victim to a few flaws it is overall a fun title. That being said, if you have the original Hyrule Warriors Wii U version and can do without all of the new DLC that has been added to the game then the game is an easy pass.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is once again a co production between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo and mixes the Zelda characters and universe with the hack-and-slash gameplay from the Dynasty Warriors series.

The big draw to the new edition of the game is of course the new added characters. The game features not only all of the DLC from the Wii U original title, but also has five new characters packed into the game. And that’s not including any unannounced playable characters included in the upcoming DLC. New to Hyrule Warriors Legends are Linkle, a girl who wields two crossbows and lives in a small village filled with Cuccos, Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and characters from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, including Toon Link, King Daphnes and Tetra.

On April 23rd, Nintendo is partnering with Nickelodeon to bring a SpongeBob SquarePants-themed Splatfest to Splatoon. Players will be asked to declare their allegiance to either the world’s most lovable sponge, SpongeBob SquarePants, or his starfish sidekick, Patrick Star, from Nickelodeon’s animated television show SpongeBob SquarePants.

“Two international pop culture sensations meet when the SpongeBob SquarePants Splatfest comes to Splatoon,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Fun partnerships like this take advantage of the crossover appeal that family-friendly franchises like Splatoon and SpongeBob provide. Nintendo Officially Joins List of Exhibitors for E3 2016

Posted on April 12, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Nintendo has officially joined the list of exhibitors for this year’s E3 Expo.  Right now the company’s name appears in the list of companies attending the show. which you can view right here or search the official E3 site for yourself. No other details about what Nintendo might be showing have of course been announced. Nintendo isn’t known for leaks – with the recent NX leaks being the except and one of those turned out to be completely false.  The company still has some big games planned for 2016 including Star Fox Zero which ships later this month and The Legend of Zelda for Wii U.

This confirmation comes just one day after Microsoft announced the timing for their press conference and sent invites out to select gaming press, enthusiasts and business folks. Will our next piece of E3 news belong to Sony? They do say good things come in threes!
