Pokémon GO updates, Ditto, and local realtime tracker

Posted on November 27, 2016 by Jason Nason

I’ll be honest. After the initial craze for Pokémon GO hit I somewhat fell off the bandwagon. I wasn’t one of those people who spent hours and days walking around seeking the elusive creatures, sucking up tons and tons of data. I’ll admit, after I let a friend without mobile data tether off of my data and I ended up going way over my monthly data, I really scaled back on my usage.

Heck, I’m only level 14.

But I have been keeping tabs on the game and am not one of those who uninstalled the game and wrote it off. I’m sure there’s much more to come.

Nintendo Brings Back the ‘80s to Celebrate the Launch of the NES Classic Edition

Posted on November 10, 2016 by Jason Nason

The NES Classic is sure to be the hit of the holidays and Nintendo is fully embracing their 8-bit roots. The company is bringing back some other retro pieces in another blast from the past.

The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition system, which includes 30 classic NES games such as Super Mario Bros., Metroid, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Kirby’s Adventure and PAC-MAN, launches on November 11th. But it’s not just the launch of this retro console that’ll see you remembering the glory days of gaming.

On the night of November 10th, fans who visit the Nintendo NY store in Rockefeller Plaza will have a blast in the past with an ’80s-themed launch event. On launch weekend (from November 11th – 13th), Nintendo is also bringing back its righteously nostalgic Power Line for three days only. Plus on November 10th and November 11th, Nintendo’s social media channels will go completely retro to a time when “social media” involved trading passwords and game tips on the school bus.

Nintendo plays it smart with Animal Crossing update

Posted on November 7, 2016 by Jason Nason

Now Nintendo could have gone the money route and made a brand new Animal Crossing game. Animal Crossing: New Leaf was released for the Nintendo 3DS back in back in 2013, so it’s been three years since its release. And when you consider that this is the forth game in the main series, and the games have been released about every three to four years apart, it wouldn’t have been at all surprising if they had.

Sure we had spinoffs Happy Home Designer and amiibo Festival in 2015 but we’re talking the main game.

So it came as a huge shock earlier in the year when Nintendo announced that they would be releasing a huge update to the four year old game and also adding amiibo support to the game. And the update would be FREE! In a world of paid season passes and endless paid DLC, getting such a huge update for free is amazing. Not only that but the update would be released as a physical game in retail store for a whole new group of kids and adults alike to get into the game.

Bravo Nintendo!
