Super Mario Maker Stage coming to Smash

Prepare for a new battle state in Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS!

Starting September 30th you’ll be able to battle on a special extra stage inspired by Super Mario Maker. The stage will be available for both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game and will feature random levels. Each time you play the stage you’ll be greeted with a random level, spread across the four different styles.

Best of all the level blocks are destructible and blocks will be redrawn by the hand overlay from Super Mario Maker.

No word on price at this point but expect that it will be a free download to help promote the release of Super Mario Maker for the Wii U.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition Launches on December 4th

Launching alongside the standalone version the upcoming Wii U role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles X on December 4th is a Special Edition overflowing with content. The special edition, which will retail for $89.99 contains the game, a book of concept art, a USB drive modeled after the gameès Lifehold Unit pre-loaded with 10 music tracks from the soundtrack, and a limited-edition matted 5×7 art card of a painting done for the game by illustrator Takashi Kojo

The Xenoblade Chronicles X speical edition is unique to North America and is already available for pre-order.

Bowser, Toad, and Yoshi Wii Remotes Coming

Nintendo is set to debut of three new Wii Remote Plus controllers inspired by classic Mushroom Kingdom characters Bowser, Toad and Yoshi.

Joining previously released Wii Remote Plus controllers themed after Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach, three new controllers inspired by Bowser, Toad and Yoshi will launch exclusively at GameStop. Retailing for $39.99 each, the Bowser and Toad controllers will launch alongside the Super Mario Maker game for the Wii U console on the 11th of September. The Yoshi version will launch with Yoshi’s Woolly World launch on October 16th.

Wii Remote Plus includes Wii MotionPlus technology, and works with all Wii and Wii U games that are compatible with Wii Remote controllers.

Teyon Adds Tower Defense Zombie Game to Wii U Lineup

Teyon has announced the upcoming release of Zombie Defense, a modern hybrid of a classic realtime strategy and Tower Defense, on Wii U. The game will become available in the European Nintendo eShop next Thursday, September 3rd for €7.99 with the American release TBD. The game was previously released for Android.

“Zombies want to end all life on Earth, only your army stands in the way. No resting until they rest in The dead burst forth from the earth, beneath a blackened sky an endless horde of zombies rampage across the burning corpse of our dying civilization. Autobots or Decepticons? Choose your side in Splatoon!

After a series of Cats vs Dogs splatfests, the ante is about to be upped in the next round with a joined venture between Nintendo and Hasbro. Are you team Autobot or team Decepticon?

Nintendo and Hasbro are joining forces to help you defend your robot allegiances in the Splatoon game for the Wii U console.

Splatoon features themed events called Splatfests that let players pick a preference, such as Autobots or Decepticons, and then compete against the opposing side in online battles. A Splatfest celebration lasts for 24 hours, during which players head into battle and try to rack up Turf War wins for their side. While the Splatfest is ongoing, in-game characters get to wear a special T-shirt that shows which Transformers team has their allegiance. The ink that each team shoots will also be customized to match the color scheme of the chosen side.

Super Smash Bros. DLC – Fans of the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U games can now add even more fun with several free updates and new DLC for purchase on both versions. Free updates include a K.K. Slider costume for Mii Fighters, plus new Community Tournament and Regular Tournament modes and the ability to upload saved replays to YouTube. Players can also purchase new Mii Fighter costumes, from Samus’ Armor to an SSB-logo Hoodie, as well as Peach’s Castle and Hyrule Castle stages from the original Nintendo 64 version of the game. New Splatoon Update – The Splatoon game for the Wii U console just got a massive free content update. The update includes two new modes: Squad Battle and Private Battle. Squad Battle lets players create a squid squad with friends and head into Ranked Battle modes together, while Private Battle lets two to eight friends battle together in customizable matches. Fatal Frame for Wii U Gets Western Release

Nintendo officially announced the western release of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water at E3 on Tuesday. The game came out in Japan last year and is exclusive to the Wii U.

The concept of the game comes from Japanese-style horror which revolves around Japanese buildings, using cameras, and the fear of “getting wet”. The game takes place in a big environment involving mountains, lakes and graveyards. According to the game producer, Keisuke Kikuchi, there will be many damp areas and quite scary figures, like traditional Japanese ghost girls who appear completely drenched in water.

While the game has no firm release date it is scheduled to be released in the fall. It’s developed by Koei Tecmo and will undoubtedly be rated M.

New Wii U Animal Crossing game and amiibo Coming

A bunch of newly revealed games were unveiled during Nintendo’s Digital Event at E3 on Tuesday, including a brand new Animal Crossing for the Wii U. The new game looks to take a page out of the Mario Party playbook and features the animal residents from Animal Crossing in a board game type game.

In Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival players are challenged to collect the most Happy Points by the end of a dynamic board game. The board layout can remain the same, but the spaces and even the environment change, depending on which month players choose for their game. As in other Animal Crossing games, players can buy turnips and use strategy to decide when to sell them for big money.
