Splatoon Splatfest Results: Blue wins the Day

Posted on February 21, 2016 by Jason Nason

The results of the latest Splatfest are in and it looks like Blue has won the day.

Despite Red winning the popular vote, Blue had a higher win percentage and took the round in points. I had chosen team Red because my very first Pokémon game was the red version with Charizard on the cover. I got the game way back when it was first released.

Which team were you on? Did your team win?Read More

Word Puzzles by POWGI | Review

Posted on February 19, 2016 by Jason Nason

I enjoy puzzle games, though most of my puzzle solving comes from puzzles built into other game genres. From problem solving and deduction like the Ace Atorney games, or figuring out a logic puzzle in Resident Evil, puzzles are usually relegated to mini-games in other titles. With Word Puzzles by POWGI for the Wii U and 3DS, they take centre stage.

Word Puzzles by POWGI is a bare bones word puzzle game. The game has a very simple presentation, with minimalistic visuals and some subtle background music to keep you going. The game has a very black and white look to the game, which is very reminiscent of a pen and paper puzzle game.

Word Puzzles by POWGI is a fun game to play.

Word Puzzles by POWGI contains six different pen-and-paper style word puzzles which are solved using the stylus and touch-screen controls. For the Wii U version of the game, the same information is displayed on both the television screen as well as the GamePad, meaning that the game fully supports off-TV play. This is very handy for the puzzler who wants to sit and figure out some brain teasers without taking over the family tube.

Since the game is broken into six separate puzzle games, I’ll go over them one at a time.

Bayonetta and Corrin Launch into Smash on Wednesday

Posted on January 31, 2016 by Jason Nason

Bayonetta and Corrin, the final two DLC fighters for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, will finally be available on Wednesday, February 3rd.

Corrin hails from Nintendo’s upcoming 3DS game Fire Emblem Fates. Just like Wii Fit Trainer, Robin and the Villager, players can choose to play as a male or female version of the character. Corrin has the blood of a dragon in his veins, allowing him to transform and pull off attacks like no other fighter.

Bayonetta, whose Wii U exclusive title Bayonetta 2 is getting a solo release on February 19th, joins Smash as well. Her addition is the result of the worldwide Fighter Ballot. Just like in her action games, Bayonetta is a combo fighter in Super Smash Bros., chaining different kinds of attacks together. Her signature move is Witch Time, which slows down opponents if they are within range.

Bayonetta will come with a brand new stage as well, which is called Umbra Clock Tower and is filled with moving platforms and even an alternate world. Both the fighter and stage are available for both Wii U and 3DS.

So what’s been on sale previously will have the same list you remember, but new entries will also have more detail at the top of the page.

I decided to keep the top two sales for both the Wii U and 3DS this week as they are pretty big titles with some pretty good prices. Especially Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl from Atlus for the Nintendo 3DS. Great deal there for sure.

Enjoy!
