Nintendo Denies That They Are Ending Wii U Production In Japan

Posted on March 22, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Wii U Production Stop

Rumors popped up earlier this week that Nintendo would cease production of its nearly 4 year-old home console the Wii U by the end of this current calendar year according to a repors by Nikkei. To date Nintendo has sold over 12.6 million units worldwide since the console’s launch in 2012, one year prior to the launch of rival PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

Nintendo has responded to these rumors by providing a statement to Japanese site itmedia media which refutes these claims. According to Nintendo:

“[the original article” isn’t an announcement from the company and production [of the Wii U home console] will continue beyond the next fiscal year.”

Nintendo’s next fiscal year will end on March 31st 2017. The Wii U’s successor, codenamed NX, is expected to launch before this date. Most rumors have pegged the new console for a reveal later this year alongside a holiday launch window.

Mario & Sonic Head to Rio Early with 3DS Launch on Friday

Posted on March 16, 2016 by Jason Nason

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is inching closer to release, with the game slated to be released for the Nintendo 3DS in North America this Friday! The home console version follows closer to the Olympic event itself, bowing on Nintendo’s Wii U on June 24th.

To celebrate the release of the game Nintendo released the opening movie for the game, which you can see below.

“Mario and Sonic are two of the most recognizable characters in video game history,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Once again they join forces to let players compete in fun sporting events on a world stage.”

When the game launches for Nintendo 3DS on Friday, both Mario and Sonic amiibo figures will be compatible. In the main story on the Road to Rio, complete Mario’s story and you’ll earn a snazzy Mario Suit, or finish Sonic’s story for a flashy blue Sonic Suit. By tapping the Mario or Sonic amiibo figures to the New Nintendo 3DS system (or on a Nintendo 2DS/3DS with the NFC Reader/Writer accessory), players can boost Mario and Sonic’s outfits with that character’s power for the day.

Pokkén Tournament Launches this Friday

Posted on March 14, 2016 by Jason Nason

The release of Pokkén Tournament is nearly here, with the game hitting store shelves in North America this Friday. This finally brings the high-definition game play and over-the-top action to never-before-seen battles between some of the most recognizable Pokémon characters.

Pokkén Tournament is of course a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and BANDAI Namco Entertainment Inc. The game is a new fighting game for Wii U that lets players use their favorite Pokémon characters to battle it out in fighting arenas. This looks and feels like a combination of the turn-based battles fans will recognize from the role-playing series with what can be typically seen from the anime series.

The Grumpy Reaper | Review

Posted on March 11, 2016 by Jason Nason

Grumpy Reaper? Grumpy Gamer.

The Grumpy Reaper is kind of a hard game to peg. On the surface it looks like it could be a pretty fun game, however once I started to play it there were things that nagged at me.

In the game you take on the role of Grumpy, a gardener I think. Most of the story introduction is done though slides, and they were somewhat tough to follow. I got the gist of the plot of the game through the online description, though to be honest the story doesn’t really matter that much.

Here is the plot: Death’s granddaughter has stolen the keys to the Underworld to unleash creatures on the world! Take on the role of Grumpy, mow the lawn and find the lost keys to help Death solve this problem.

So you play as Grumpy and you have to mow the lawn in each level’s graveyard. Every level is a graveyard, or at least every level that I played was one. The goal of the game is to collect keys, and the way you complete each level is to cut all of the grass.

Capcom is bringing another Mega Man game to the Wii U’s Virtual Console tomorrow.

Following in the footsteps of Pokémon in releasing two slightly different versions of the same game at the same time, you can catch up with Capcom’s MEGA MAN BATTLE NETWORK 6 CYBEAST GREGAR and MEGA MAN BATTLE NETWORK 6 CYBEAST FALZAR when they hit the Wii U. In the games you can help Lan and Mega Man tame the Cybeasts and investigate the culprit responsible for their release.

After moving with his family to Cyber City, Lan, with the help of Mega Man, must intervene before Gregar—an ancient creature of enormous power—destroys the network and the world! Game content is the same for both games, but NetNavi chips and other items may differ.

Posted on March 7, 2016 by Jason Nason

The third series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards are just around the corner in North America and Nintendo has announced the date for the fourth series of cards.

Also Isabelle would be released as a stand alone figure. Previously Isabelle was only available as part of the Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival bundle. The amiibo for Isabelle is actually slightly different, with Isabelle sporting a summer outfit.

The third series of cards comes out in a few weeks, and I’ve barely scratched the surface on the second series.
