The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds | Review

Posted on January 1, 2014 by Jason Nason

Nintendo has done it again.

You would think that after twenty years and just about as many Zelda titles that the series would have gotten stale. Everything that you think could have been done in a game which, at its core, hasn’t really changed since the start. Well, except for Zelda II but that is a whole other type of game. You would be wrong. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is the first new game for the Nintendo 3DS and the developers have utilized the system’s stereoscopic 3D effect to perfection. They have introduced a brand new game mechanic which adds a whole new level of challenge and complexity to dungeons and exploration, and is one which really gives the game a fresh feel.

Rosalina Joins Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8

Posted on December 18, 2013 by Jason Nason

Rosalina, who was introduced in the wildly enjoyable Super Mario Galaxy games for Wii, will be a playable character, accompanied by her starry friend, Luma when Super Smash Bros. launches on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in 2014. Not only that but she will also be playable in Mario Kart 8.

I am personally thrilled at the addition and am glad that Nintendo keeps revealling new playable characters for Super Smash Bros. There can never be enough characters to battle it out with and I am also hoping that there are plans to release even more as DLC after the games release. I don’t care if they are paid or free add on characters. The more the better!

New playable characters in Mario Kart 8 include Rosalina as well as various “Baby” Nintendo characters, like Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach and Baby Daisy. New course settings shown in a new gameplay video include an airport, the desert and high in the clouds, and vehicles including UFOs, four-wheel ATV buggies, standard karts as well as bikes.

Bravely Default Demo Coming January 2nd

Posted on December 18, 2013 by Jason Nason

Bravely Default is arguably the most anticipated Nintendo 3DS title in quite a while. The game was released more than a year ago in Japan by Square Enix and since them fans of RPGs and Square Enix have been clamoring for a Western release. So when Nintendo announced a while ago that the game was coming out in North Amwerica it’s safe to say that people were thrilled.

Today Nintendo announced that not only will the game finally launch in North America in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on February 7th, but an exclusive demo will be released in the eShop on January 2nd. BUT the demo won’t just be a demo, but will be an exclusive story with hours of content not included in the main game in which Tiz and his allies work towards the restoration of Norentae village. New Chibi-Robo Game Coming in January

Posted on December 18, 2013 by Jason Nason

Chibi-Robo, a fantastically odd little game for the Nintendo GameCube, is making a comeback with a sequel coming this January. Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder will bring “everyone’s favorite helpful 4-inch-tall robot” back in a brand new game which will be available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

In the new game Chibi-Robo has been tasked with helping a new museum get off the ground. Players will be given silhouettes of needed objects, then use the Nintendo 3DS camera to find matching objects, known as NostalJunk, in the real world. Basically you find items in the real world that match the silouette in the game and snap a photo of it with the 3DS camera. Then the item is taken into the game to be added to the museum.

I’ll give Nintendo one thing. They sure do know how to make innovative ideas to make use of their hardware. This is definitely a creative and inventive idea!

National Streetpass Weekend Starts a Day Early

Posted on December 13, 2013 by Jason Nason

If you have a Nintendo 3DS you likely already know what StreetPass is, but here’s a brief explanation. Basically if you carry your Nintendo 3DS around with you, either active or in sleep mode, you can receive Mii information as well as game data from others around you who are doing the same thing. If you both share the same title installed on your system you will automatically share data, special items and more.

But you have to have StreetPass enabled. Nintendo has a little explanation no how to do that on their website. Trust me; it’s simple.

At Nintendo Zone locations around Canada (mostly McDonald’s, Future Shops and Best Buys) you can also collect Miis and other data. Recently Nintendo added a delay feature to Nintendo Zones so that the last person who visited a location would pop up on your system and your Mii would pop up on the next person’s system. Now with this new special weekend event you could get a Mii visitor from another region of the world.

Check into a Nintendo Zone location in the U.S. or Canada on December 14 and 15 (it was announced that via Miiverse that Nintendo bumped the start to today!), you’ll be able to StreetPass with people from around the country. Up until now I have Miis from Canada (and one special Nintendo Mii from Japan), but I could possibly now get up to six Miis at once from multiple regions!
