Space Lift Danger Panic! | Review

Posted on January 24, 2015 by Jason Nason

Space Lift Dangers Panic! is a quick little arcade game on the Nintendo 3DS eShop that can be played in quick five minute bursts, but the repetitive gameplay also makes the game makes the game hard to play for more than ten minutes at a time.

Let’s face it, playing games on a portable game system comes in two kinds. One is the game that you sit in the dark at home and marathon through while the other is the kind where you whip out your system and play for just a few minutes. Space Lift Danger Panic! is the latter.

The game is really easy to pick up and play, and despite the epic intro text for the game, the game is very basic. It is exactly what the game designers bill it as, the ultimate retro-arcade challenge.

Wii U Closes out 2014 with Biggest Sales Month in the System’s History

Posted on January 15, 2015 by Jason Nason

Wii U established new benchmarks for hardware and software sales in a single month in December. This helped total hardware and software sales in 2014 increase by more than 29 percent and more than 75 percent, respectively, over sales in 2013.

Nintendo 3DS also had a strong December, including its largest month ever for first-party software sales. This was primarily fueled by Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, which has already surpassed 2 million combined physical and digital units sold in a little more than three months, and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, which have combined to sell over 2.6 million physical and digital units in their first six weeks.

Fairune | Review

Posted on December 16, 2014 by Jason Nason

Fairune is an 8-bit looking action RPG with a very basic setup and gameplay mechanic. It’s simple to play and brings you right back to the nostalgia of the NES days, though this game is even easier to play than even the original The Legend of Zelda.

Find it too hard to press a button to swing and attack an enemy? Well don’t worry. All you have to do is run into an enemy, or have them run into you, and you’ll attack them and take damage. It actually works pretty well and makes the game a bit more quickly paced.

If you’ve played CIRCLE’s earlier game Witch & Hero you’ll know what to expect from this mechanic, and I actually like it a lot because you can focus more on getting around and less on constantly attacking the hordes of monsters which are everywhere.

Power Rangers Super MegaForce | Review

Posted on November 15, 2014 by Jason Nason

Power Rangers Super MegaForce on the Nintendo 3DS is an average beat ’em up action game, which does what it needs to do but is nothing spectacular. It will surely satisfy the younger fans of the series, but if you’re looking for a fast paced action game you’ll need to look elsewhere.

The game reminds me of the Double Dragon games from the NES days where you play through levels with a pair of fighters. The similarity ends there however as the levels are much more basic, the action slower paced and it’s very repetitive.

Ruthless Prince Vekar has arrived with his massive alien Armada to conquer the Earth. To face this new evil threat, the MegaForce Rangers utilize special Morphers and Keys, which allow them to morph into the Super MegaForce Rangers! That’s the setup of the game, though there is very limited story in the game.
