Zombie Incident | Review

Posted on March 11, 2015 by Jason Nason

I know that sometimes the term “old school” is thrown around a lot. Talk of any game that looks, plays and feels like it could have been released back in the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System brings that saying to the front.

Zombie Incident is another game that has that look and feel.

Here’s a brief synopsis of the game: Hamartia, the great citadel, became the symbol of human sin. After centuries of excesses its penance was going to come. In the darkness of the night, chaos invaded everything. Beasts started to scream. Nothing was like before! No one sane would go to that place. Join our heroine to explore the citadel, find the eight golden stars, and run away from there!

Adventure Bar Story | Review

Posted on March 8, 2015 by Jason Nason

Adventure Bar Story is an RPG set in a fantasy world in which you go on adventures with party members and manage a bar. The premise sounds somewhat odd, but the game actually plays pretty well and feels very much like a SNES era RPG.

Your bar is facing a hostile take over by a rich restaurant owner named Gustav. Gustav is a powerful man and he will try to drive you out of business and force you to sell the bar! What’s the best way to defend the take over? Become the most popular bar in town, so even Gustav can’t take over your bar.

So the game is very much go out into the world, collect recipes and ingredients, come back to your bar and make food to sell. That’s about the size of the game.

Zombie Incident Coming to 3DS in February

Posted on February 24, 2015 by Jason Nason

Coder Child has a new game headed to the Nintendo 3DS eShop called Zombie Incident. The game was originally developed by NeneFranz, which won top spot at MSXdev’11. The game has since been updated and brought to life (so to speak) on the 3DS.

Here’s a brief synopsis of the game. Hamartia, the great citadel, became the symbol of human sin. After centuries of excesses its penance was going to come. In the darkness of the night, chaos invaded everything. Beasts started to scream. Nothing was like before! No one sane would go to that place.

You’ll join the heroine of the game to explore the citadel, find the eight golden stars, and then run away from there.

The game features visually appealing pixel-art graphics and an amazing chiptune soundtrack. The game will also come with online leaderbords where you can register your high score and challenge your friends.

Adventure Bar Story Unfolds this Thursday

Posted on February 16, 2015 by Jason Nason

Open up your calendar because there’s another RPG set to keep you busy for awhile. CIRCLE Entertainment is prepping Adventure Bar Story for release this week, with the RPG set to debut in the Nintendo 3DS eShop this Thursday.

The game is set in a fantasy world in which you go on adventures with party members and manage a bar. Your bar is facing a hostile take over by a rich Restaurant Owner: Gustav. Gustav is a powerful man and he will try to drive you out of business and force you to sell the bar! And what is the best way to defend the take over? You just have to win the crowd and become the most popular bar in town, so even Gustav can’t touch you!

In the game you’ll collect mats to make dishes by visiting other towns and dungeons. Levels are gained in this game by eating, of all things. Raise your bar’s rank via sales at the bar and by performing well in the cooking contest held at the castle.

The game sure seems to be an interesting venture and sounds like a cool concept.

Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy + | Review

Posted on February 16, 2015 by Jason Nason

I wasn’t sure how much fun I’d have with an aerial combat game when this came across to me. I mean the last real game I played in this genre, and I mean really played, was After Burner way back on the SEGA Master System! I played that game to death, though I was just a kid at the time. Any other flight sim or combat games I’ve played in the past lost my interest fairly quickly, either because of their repetitive nature or their steep learning curve and difficulty.

That has changed with Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy + for the NEW Nintendo 3DS. This game is actually pretty fun to play.

The first thing I want to talk about right off the bat is the audio in the game. I know, it’s an odd thing to lead with, especially in a review that would typically be mostly about the gameplay. I love the audio in this game.

Free-to-Play Pokémon Shuffle Set to Release Soon

Posted on February 15, 2015 by Jason Nason

Back in January during a Nintendo Direct, Nintendo annouced a new free-to-play game for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is Pokémon Shuffle.

Pokémon Shuffle is a download-only game and the game appears to follow the free-to-play model of many mobile games, and will seemingly have micro-transactions, from what is said in the game description.

“You’ll be able to enjoy virtually all the features of Pokémon Shuffle without paying any money,” states the release. “There is a limit to how many stages you can play through without taking a break. This number will be replenished with time, but you can also purchase items in the game’s shop that will enable you to continue playing immediately, if you choose.”

This seems to fit with every free-to-play game I’ve played on mobile and some on Facebook. Play until your meter runs low or you’re out of moves. Then you have to come back later once it’s recharged or spend real money to play again now.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask | Review

Posted on February 12, 2015 by Jason Nason

I’ll be honest. I never played the original Majora’s Mask.

Way back when the game was released on the Nintendo 64, I never got around to playing it. I sank countless hours into the game that came before it, Ocarina of Time. But somehow I just never got around to this one. I had heard a lot about the game and it always intrigued me but I never played it.

Until now.

Nintendo is continuing the tradition of updating older games in their catalogue and releasing them on current generation systems. I had always thought that the practice was a little silly, but that opinion has changed because of Nintendo’s latest game.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a marvel of a game and looks magnificent on the Nintendo 3DS.
