amiibo Functionality added in Newest 3DS Update

Posted on June 1, 2015 by Jason Nason

If you’re like me today you were prompted to update your Nintendo 3DS system today when entering the eShop. The relatively quick update added a new option within the settings home settings menu.

Tap on the home icon on the top left of your screen and then scroll down to see a newly added option for “amiibo Settings.” From this menu you can register the owner and nickname of your amiibo, delete amiibo game data, reset your amiibo as well as update the Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer. Of course that peripheral isn’t even available yet so you can’t really do anything in this menu just yet.

My Nintendo Wishlist for E3

Posted on May 31, 2015 by Jason Nason

The last few years haven’t been the most overwhelming for longtime Nintendo fans, and have been somewhat underwhelming. I think that what has left me disappointed has been the lack of big announcements as well as announcements of games with no release date. Sure it’s great to know that a new Zelda game is in the works, but knowing that I’m going to have to wait a year or more for the game isn’t exciting. It’s a tease.

That’s why I’m hoping that Nintendo brings their cards to E3 this year and lays down an exciting hand. There is a lot they have to work with, haven’t announced anything huge in a while and there is a lot to loook forward to. In theory.

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition Impressions

Posted on May 20, 2015 by Jason Nason

So there’s one kind of game that I actually really enjoy, which is apparent if you read my previous review of Spirit Stones, it’s the sliding tile games. And not just any old sliding tile games, but the ones where you get stuff.

Sure, Candy Crush is fun (from what I’m told) but I don’t see the point. However games where I get to defeat enemies and collect cards or monsters? I’m in! Puzzle & Dragons is this game, and the Super Mario Bros. Edition adds a bit of the Nintendo flavour to it.

I’ll be honest. I didn’t know the original game existed before Nintendo announced this one and I have since played a little bit of that game. I like the idea that instead of merely swapping two adjacent tiles around you get to slide a tile anywhere on the board. And by doing so you also end up shifting around other ties.

A-Train 3D: City Simulator | REVIEW

Posted on May 14, 2015 by Jason Nason

Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a big transit guy. I love buses and trains alike, so the thought of a game where I can design my own train and bus network? That’s my kind of game.

In fact when I saw the title of the game pop up I was taken aback as I’ve played this game before, at least one of it’s predecessors.

I originally played A-Train WAY way back on the original PlayStation. Released by Maxis it was a fun game back in the day, but I remember being frustrated by the game. Perhaps it was my youth, but I couldn’t make it very far in the game and always ran into trouble with my trains getting stuck.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M | Review

Posted on April 6, 2015 by Jason Nason

One of the things that I appreciate is when Nintendo comes up with a new IP. Sure I love Mario and will never grow tired of games featuring this landmark character, but there’s something to be said for coming up with new games and new characters. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. could have easily been just another Nintendo game featuring Mario, but instead the company decided to introduce a whole new set of characters and it’s very welcome.

In Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. you’ll command a strike team of unexpected heroes – assembled by Abraham Lincoln himself – to defend Earth against an alien invasion! The game is a turn-based strategy game where you’ll take turns moving your characters around a playing field. After you make your series of moves the enemy will then take their turn. Winning each stage depends on what you do, and how well you can predict what your enemy will do.
