Posted on January 4, 2016 by Jason Nason

It was just over a year ago that I sat here reviewing the original The Legend of Dark Witch. I enjoyed that game and it got a pretty good review as a result. The game was simple, solid, and fun to play. You’ll find more of the same in the sequel here, with a ton more jam packed into the game.

The Legend of Dark Witch 2: The Price of Desire takes place after the events of the first game.

Hackers Get Full Windows 95 To Work On New 3DS

Posted on January 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Nintendo 3DS Windows

Only one day after the new year we’re going to party like it’s… 1995?

A clever hacker has gotten Microsoft’s two decade only operating system Windows 95 to run on Nintendo’s New 3DS according to a post on console modification forum GBATMP.  RetroRampage37 released a rough build of the Windows 95 hack and certainly it fill our minds with the idea of playing older DOS games on Nintendo’s handheld.

As of right now the hack does not appear to work on the original 3DS but to be sure the community is working on it. As for the utility of this hack – it is pretty much useless outside of playing older DOS games like Sim City 2000, Command & Conquer, the original DOOM and other older gems. Also playing these games in what amounts to a DOSBOX with no keyboard is also less than ideal.

Nevertheless – for now Windows 95 has been revived on the New 3DS, until Nintendo patches whatever loophole RetroRampage37 used to run unsigned code on the hardware.

Nintendo NX to have “industry leading chipset” hybrid design

Posted on October 17, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

Nintendo is not known for their consoles power. Histrically they have been under powered but innovative, with the last two being pioneers in motion control and second screen technologies. So it comes as a surprise when in an article in The Wall Street Journal, nintendo is quoited as saying the NX will also reportedly use “industry-leading chips in the devices that will presumably allow for better graphics and deeper functionality.” The article also reports that there will be at least two components to the system, one which can be used as a mobile component and one that can be used as a console. Each can stand on their own. This is not totally unexpected, i remember seeing lots of photos of travelling wii-u’s where only the game pad was being utilized, the one question this does leave me with is, how much? Small screens aren’t inherently expensive but if i have to pay DS level prices for the controller piece of my console it might dissuade me from buying it.
