Dan McFox: Head Hunter turns up on Nintendo 3DS

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Jason Nason

Lightwood Games has announced their next game for the Nintendo 3DS and it won’t be another word game. The game, Dan McFox: Head Hunter, will hit eShops in Europe on Thursday, April 21st with the North American release date still not determined.

It’s a budget title (£1.99 / €2.49) which we plucked from our back-catalogue of mobile phone games and remixed in some interesting ways for 3DS.

Dan McFox: Head Hunter is inspired by the kids’ board game Guess Who and is a remix from Lightwood Games’ back-catelogue of mobile games. The game sees you racing to pick out the right faces in a crowd, to help agent Dan McFox round up the suspects he’s looking for. It’s frantic screen-tapping fun with (literally) billions of faces!

“While it’s a slight and momentary change of direction for our studio,” the studio said in a release, “porting across an old favourite as a low-priced release gave us chance to get to grips with some new things, like using Nintendo Network for leaderboards, and making our first multi-lingual game.”

Hyrule Warriors Legends | Review

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a scaled down version of the hit Wii U title of last year, and while it does fall victim to a few flaws it is overall a fun title. That being said, if you have the original Hyrule Warriors Wii U version and can do without all of the new DLC that has been added to the game then the game is an easy pass.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is once again a co production between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo and mixes the Zelda characters and universe with the hack-and-slash gameplay from the Dynasty Warriors series.

The big draw to the new edition of the game is of course the new added characters. The game features not only all of the DLC from the Wii U original title, but also has five new characters packed into the game. And that’s not including any unannounced playable characters included in the upcoming DLC. New to Hyrule Warriors Legends are Linkle, a girl who wields two crossbows and lives in a small village filled with Cuccos, Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and characters from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, including Toon Link, King Daphnes and Tetra.

XSeed Announces Corpse Party for 3DS

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

XSEED Games has announced it plans to release brand new versions of the much-lauded horror adventure, Corpse Party, for the Nintendo 3DS and Windows PC, both with exclusive content never before seen outside of Japan.

Originally developed as an independent title by Team GrisGris, and previously released by XSEED Games for the PSP, Corpse Party is a chilling visual novel-style experience that takes players on a terrifying journey where each step could be their last.

This summer, Corpse Party will receive a limited ‘Back to School Edition’ physical release for Nintendo 3DS priced at $49.99 USD, which will include high-quality miniature figurines of characters Naomi Nakashima and Seiko Shinohara, as well as a soundtrack CD containing nearly 80 minutes of music from the game not previously featured on the ‘Songs of the Dead’ compilation, including three tracks exclusive to this Nintendo 3DS version.

Corpse Party will also see a digital release in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS for $29.99 USD. Remastered from the 2011 PSP game, the Nintendo 3DS rendition of Corpse Party will feature redrawn, high-resolution character sprites, newly arranged music tracks, and 3D art stills, as well as four new Extra Chapters exclusive to this version that provide insight into lesser-shown characters and plot elements previously left unexplained.

This title has been rated “M for Mature” by the ESRB. The game is set to be released this Summer.

Witch & Hero II | Review

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Jason Nason

The original Witch & Hero was the second game I reviewed a few years back and I loved it. The game was the model of simplicity, both in approach and gameplay. Born from the look of the old school 8-bit era of games, Witch & Hero looked and felt like a game that could have been around when I was a kid.

Witch & Hero II takes everything that the original did so well and builds on it. Everything from the original game is intact, but the sequel has more meat.

The game takes place years after the events of the first game where a new Demon Lord comes to terrorize the world, with the Witch and Hero setting out to defeat him. Unfortunately they are defeated. Once news has spread of the defeat, two new heros emerge to fight the Demon Lord. These are who you will play as in the game.

Kirby: Planet Robobot new side game videos

Posted on March 27, 2016 by Jason Nason

Nintendo and HAL Laboratory’s upcoming Kirby: Planet Robobot doesn’t come out until June 10th, but the game is nearing its release at the end of next month in Japan. While there aren’t a lot of information on Nintendo of America’s website yet (no official site has launched, just the game page) there is a full site over at Nintendo of Japan.

While I can’t read what any of it says, there are a few fun videos that were just updated which show two subgames.

In case you’re not sure what this game is about, here’s the plot of the main story.

Harness the power of a mysterious mech to stop ruthless invaders from mechanizing Kirby’s home world. Smash through tough obstacles, lift heavy objects with ease, and scan enemies to shape-shift into new Modes with powerful abilities. Kirby’s Robobot Armor can shape-shift into different modes by scanning enemies to copy their moves—like the new Jet Mode. Not to mention, Kirby™ can copy abilities the old-fashioned way too—by inhaling them!
