Circle considering new import from Arc System Works

Posted on May 18, 2016 by Jason Nason

Circle put out word on their social media accounts yesterday to gauge interest in a new game they are considering publishing. The game in question is a resource and simulation game where you collect materials and develop your little town into a bigger one.

The game follows some of the staples of the genre, from collecting wood and stones in order to build buildings and other items, though without the attacking of other camps like in Warcraft. The game was released by Arc System Works in December.

Check out the trailer for the game below. Is this something you’d be interested in? Be sure to let Circle know!

Posted on May 16, 2016 by Jason Nason

Nintendo announced today that the Yo-kai phenomenon will continue later this year. With a third game on the way in Japan, the second game will be released in North America for the Nintendo 3DS on September 30th.

Developed by LEVEL-5, Yo-Kai Watch 2 offers the same deep RPG gameplay and wacky adventures as the first game. The new adventure also offers many new areas to explore outside of Springdale, more than 350 new Yo-kai, a new-and-improved in-game Yo-kai Watch and even the ability to travel back in time! Yo-Kai Watch 2 will also launch with two versions, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls, each featuring original Yo-kai that can only be found in their respective games.

“After being such a massive sensation in Japan, it’s great to see the U.S. start to embrace the mischievous and lovable Yo-kai,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We’re excited to continue bringing fun Yo-kai experiences stateside this year.”

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson | Review

Posted on May 15, 2016 by Jason Nason

Let’s be honest. It was the girls that first drew me to this game. Just like other video games where “giggle physics” has become a thing, I liked the look of the girls in the game. What can I say. But beyond the look of the girls themselves, Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson is a fun game to play.

Parallel to the look of the girls in the game is the fact that the game has a look and feel of anime. I’ve long enjoyed anime and the culture of Japan itself. I’m a regular watcher of anime on Crunchyroll and am an annual attendee at various anime conventions. Playing Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson feels like I’m playing an anime, albeit more on the ecchi side of things.

So what is this game anyway? Here’s the plot of the game:

Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge | Review

Posted on May 12, 2016 by Jason Nason

While Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge is not the answer to the killer ap question for giving amiibos a solid use, it is a great start and a positive sign for what Nintendo can and should do with the figures. Much like Skylanders, you’ll need at least one amiibo to play the game, but you can unlock a whole lot more the more figures you have.

Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge is a great game and finally does what I’ve been crying for Nintendo to do. Sure it’s neat to tap an amiibo in a game to unlock a new costume for my mii, or add a unique item to the game, but for the most part amiibo have been nothing more than an novelty. Sure I have a ton of them. Any Nintendo fan who is in this for the love of it already has a growing collection of the figures. But for the most part amiibo have just been NFC enabled toys with potential.

Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge has unlocked that potential.

Langrisser Re:Incarnation -TENSEI- | Review

Posted on May 9, 2016 by Jason Nason

I don’t know where to begin with Langrisser Re:Incarnation -TENSEI-, which for the rest of this review I will simply refer to as Langrisser. The game is a strategic RPG for the Nintendo 3DS and is very similar to the Fire Emblem series of games. Though while latest Fire Emblem game has a lot of style and polish, Langrisser feels somewhat dull.

That’s not to say that the game isn’t enjoyable. It does have an engaging story and has great character design, but some of the battles feel very drawn out and some of the in game elements are clumsy and awkward.

In the game you play as Ares Lovina, whose village Borcelaine is attacked by the Imperial Army of Light. In an attempt to protect his village he recedes to a church and draws a sword. Only the sword happens to be the Holy sword Langrisser, which only a true hero can wield the sword. Why has Emperor Autokrato IV ordered the army of light to attack the village? What happened to Ares’ sister Licorice? Ares goes on a quest to find these things out.
