Circle to release Kutar series for 3DS on Thursday

Posted on November 8, 2016 by Jason Nason

What is Kutar? Kutar is the character who has an incredible expressionless emotion that can’t be distinguished by laughing or crying. Kutar is not a dog, cat or bear. Kutar is always Kutar no matter where he is going or doing.

In all seriousness, Kutar is a series of microgames developed by Giga Rensya and being released by Circle Entertainment in North America on Thursday. The games, ten of them in all, each retail for $0.99 USD. It’s not clear if they will be sold as a bundle at this point.

They look pretty crazy, but for such a small price they could be interesting. Kutar definitely looks reminiscent of the Wario Ware series.

Nintendo plays it smart with Animal Crossing update

Posted on November 7, 2016 by Jason Nason

Now Nintendo could have gone the money route and made a brand new Animal Crossing game. Animal Crossing: New Leaf was released for the Nintendo 3DS back in back in 2013, so it’s been three years since its release. And when you consider that this is the forth game in the main series, and the games have been released about every three to four years apart, it wouldn’t have been at all surprising if they had.

Sure we had spinoffs Happy Home Designer and amiibo Festival in 2015 but we’re talking the main game.

So it came as a huge shock earlier in the year when Nintendo announced that they would be releasing a huge update to the four year old game and also adding amiibo support to the game. And the update would be FREE! In a world of paid season passes and endless paid DLC, getting such a huge update for free is amazing. Not only that but the update would be released as a physical game in retail store for a whole new group of kids and adults alike to get into the game.

Bravo Nintendo!

Fairune 2 | REVIEW

Posted on November 6, 2016 by Jason Nason

When I played Fairune just under two years ago I fell in love with the simple adventure RPG. Looking and feeling somewhat reminiscent of the early The Legend of Zelda games, the game was wide open and fun to play. Circle and developer Skipmore have followed up the game with the sequel Fairune 2 and have built a game that stays true to the success of the first one while also expanding into a much bigger game.

Fairune 2 is a game that is built on exploration. You’ll need to not only explore the various maps in the game, but also pay close attention to the surroundings. There will be many times in the game when you’ll suddenly find yourself lost without a clue what to do next. Where do you go? The game is built with such subtlety that if you’re just rushing through the game you can very easily overlook something pivotal to progressing in the game.

Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure | REVIEW

Posted on October 20, 2016 by Jason Nason

Sometimes games that look too cute can be overlooked and dismissed as just a kids game. These games can be lacking in a real challenge or have watered down gameplay which could be unappealing for a seasoned gamer. And while Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure is definitely a cute looking game, it’s definitely not one that is without challenge.

Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure is what you get when you blend a dungeon crawling adventure with overly cute characters. It could be compared that the the “toon” look that entered the Zelda franchise with The Wind Waker. The environments are cute and cartoony while the characters are very simple and have that cel-shaded toon look.

Pokémon Sun and Moon Demo | IMPRESSIONS

Posted on October 19, 2016 by Jason Nason

Today marks one month until the release of the highly anticipated Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games for the Nintendo 3DS. The games are the next in a series with the last full games being Pokémon X and Pokémon Y from just over three years ago. While the demo is only a small taste of what the game will be when it sees a full release, it does shed some light on what the game will be.

The Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Demo is being treated mostly as an instructional tool so if you’ve never played a Pokémon game in the past then this teaches you the basics. The demo covers battles, capturing Pokémon, facing off against trainers, using the Pokémon Centre to heal your Pokémon, etc. There isn’t anything Earth shattering in here.
