so what your looking at there, is the first ever confirmation that humanity is doomed, I MEAN, that much beloved COD 4 is getting a remake for the new Infinite Warfare: Legacy Edition. For at least several days rumor has been circulating that the first ever Modern Warfare, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, would be getting an HD remake in the coming months, now it seems that Activision has officially confirmed it, via emojis, on twitter. I cant believe i just typed that sentence. So there you go, we may get an awesome remake of Crash and Shipment. I for one will probably buy it just for the fun of playing a game where grenade spam and noob tubes kill me before I can ever take a shot.
Many people wondered where Gearbox would go after their most recent game Battleborn launches on May 3, now it seems we have our answer. At a panel (which your truly did not attend sadly) yesterday at PAX East studio CEO Randy Pitchford said it’s no secret there’s “going to be another Borderlands. We don’t even know if we’re going to call it” said Picthford. “We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know.”
Whole Randy can sometimes be a bit eccentric this is essentially a low key announcement that we will indeed be getting another installment in the much loved Borderlands franchise. With three games already completed and several expansions and extra content for the first three and all have been well received so it just makes good sense for them to do another. art director Scott Kester was named in the panel as also heading up this project (so expect the same look as all the other games) while writing will come from Mikey Neumann a veteran of the series, and the head writer for Battle born.
One small hint was dropped as to when this game will take place, Neumann said in the panel about scooter a character whom he voice ““I did this whole Scooter thing, then I pitch-shifted it up like seven semitones so it sounds like a chipmunk and it was the funniest thing I’d ever heard,” said Neumann. He added nothing was official at present, though.” perhaps a child of scooter? Either way I can for sure tell you that the game will feature twisted humor, a lot of bullets, and a decent story line.
Personally I have not played a Borderlands since 2 but maybe a new franchise will convince me that its time to come back to the cell shaded world of tomorrow.

First announced this year is MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 it is premiering Saturdays, starting April 2nd @ 3:30PM PST.An adaptation of the long running Unicorn Gundam series of OVA’s, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM UNICORN RE:0096 is one anime I am extremely excited for this season.
So far the official description from Bandai reads: Going back to the Universal Century(UC) the show takes place U.C. 0096 three years after Chars rebellion. On the surface, it appears that tranquility has returned to a world which has been troubled by conflict ever since the One Year War. Banagher Links, a boy living at the manufacturing colony Industrial 7, meets a mysterious girl who calls herself Audrey Burne. Audrey has taken independent action to stop the Vist Foundation from handing over Laplace’s Box to the Neo Zeon remnants known as the Sleeves, and Banagher decides to help her. But the colony becomes a battlefield as fighting breaks out between the Sleeves and the Earth Federation Forces, who have also come to prevent the handover. As Banagher runs through the battle in search of Audrey, he has a fateful encounter with a white mobile suit, the Unicorn Gundam, which is the key to Laplace’s Box.

We have known for a while that BioWare maker of beloved Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and yes Knights of the Old Republic, are working on a new IP. However, what we didnt know was that Alistair McNally BioWares’s senior director of creative development have revealed that project at GDC. However, he did it in such a clandestine that all of the media outlets (including our own) who were at GDC missed it. Take look at that tweet for full confirmation, but basically he said that he was walking around in a new T-shirt that had the IP on it.
Also it was fun to walk around GDC2016 in a t-shirt with our new IP on it and no one batted an eyelid.
Since Alistair has only about 5000 followers, even this tweet went mostly unnoticed. IGN dug it up this morning and now a large chunk of the internet is searching for images of Alistair at the convention, to try and analyze the shirt he is wearing.
So what do you hope the new IP is? Tell us on Facebook, or Twitter!
It seems no company can launch a game these days with out headlines proclaiming that the game is not doing well. The Division, the new, much hyped, MMORPG shooter, from Ubisoft has fallen prey to the problems of so many other massive multiplayer games before it. It appears that the games servers collapsed under the weight of the good ole USA’s player base. In case you missed it (or were sleeping like me) The division launched on Australian midnight last night, allowing players world wide to play at that time.
Players who woke up expecting to be able to log in and get an early start on the game found themselves confronted by errors ‘Romeo’ and ‘Sierra’. Which seems to mean that the game client was unable to reach the servers. Ubisoft sent out this tweet at 2AM
2 hours ago, there was a Ubisoft services outage. This issue has now been resolved and players should be able to resume playing the game.
— Tom Clancy's The Division (@TheDivisionGame) March 8, 2016
Fortunatly service was restored by the time of that tweet. There is rampant speculation that the error was server overload, but it seems unlikely and a post on the official Ubisoft forums seems to point to “Ubisoft Services Degradation” as the issue. Perhaps they simply underestimated the number of players that wanted to get in to the game. That seems odd considering that “More than 6.4 million players apparently participated in The Division Beta” according to Ubisoft themselves. It seems like they ought to have prepared for this, but perhaps it was simple underestimation of demand. Service is now restored, and players are happily killing the cleaners and ganking each other in the darkzone.
Marvel has done a lot recently for its leading ladies. Now they will highlight them in a new event they are calling Women of Power. Starting March 3, Marvel Games will release new characters and more content across it catalog of mobile, console, and PC titles such as Lego Marvel Avengers, Marvel Puzzle Quest, and Avenger Academy. This should get rid of many of the compliants that folks had of characters like black widow not appearing in the Avengers game titles. There was a small uproar when marvel didnt include many of its female characters in its games, and toys after the movies had female protagonists. Hit the jump for the full list of whats coming to what games.
Because E-sports is now big business, almost everyone who has a game thats team based seems to be announcing a competitive league. Valve at least are no strangers to a solid comptitive league having previously run The International for DoTA2. So it comes really as no surprise, at least to me, that Valves long running (now) free to play team based co-op shooter Team Fortress 2 is getting a Competitive league.
TF2 is a game famous for its silly hats, unique weapons, and seemingly endless support life. The game went free to play(FTP) in 2011, and since has taken on a new life far beyond what anyone would have imagined. With dozen of patches and events since going free to play, TF2 has been a staple of the FTP community for years. Now it seems that folks who have been begging for a competitive ranked, steam curated mode, have been answered. In a post on reddit /u/vjill points users to a competitive beta inside steams social features.
There were rumors this was happening when in a visit to Valve HQ by community at teamfortress.tv in April of 2014 matchmaking was at least briefly discussed. At the time Valve seemed to be on board, but there was no official word of any pending changes. Now we have the official word, competitive matchmaking is coming to TF2.
Inside the steam group Valve says “[Valve will] be using this group to send out announcements related to the competitive beta as well as seed beta invites for the expansion of the closed beta” This is no doubt exciting for the robust, lively community in TF2, whom despite the game being well past the age of most relevant shooters, still keep its servers populated. Hopefully a ranking system brings in new more competitive blood, and leads to more and better tournaments curated by Valve. Who knows perhaps someday we will see an international TF2 comptition backed by Valve and funded by the players, just like the current International for DOTA2 is.
Cooler Master has always led the way in case design for avid PC gamers, but now it seems they are upping their game in to the enthusiast world with a fully modular case. As someone who themselves uses a CM trooper and loves it, this can not come as better news. Cooler Master has long been my favorite manufacturer of cases and now the MasterAir Maker 8 and 5 show that they are as dedicated to their craft as I am to gaming.
The new case called the MasterAir Maker 5 incudes four USB ports, one of which is USB 3.0 Type-C, a button to activate the fan LED lights, and a button to control the fan speeds. Three fans come included with the case, two x 140mm for the front and one 140mm for the back. Top and Front pannels are detachable with magnets rather than brackets, and can be upgraded with sound baffling to dampen fan noise.
Also announced was the MasterAir Maker 8, which will be its first cooler to use its new 3D Vapor Chamber technology. The new tech combines a vapor chamber and heat pipe, instead of a typical fan radiator assembly. Cooler Master says that it will improve efficiency by up to 19%. Both of the cases are extremely pretty and no doubt will not be cheap but one of the best investments I ever made my was my CM Storm Trooper, and i would not hesitate to spend that kind of money again when building a new machine.
Tiny developer Super Giant Games is no stranger to sucess. Their previous isometric styled RPG story game, Bastion was also a huge success, so it should come as very little surprise that their second time Transistor is also a success. According to the developer the game has sold more than one million copies as of December of this year. This is no doubt helped along by the fact that the game is now multiplatform, having jumped the gap and been added to the Ps4 earlier in the year.
“We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to stick together as a team and with any luck keep making the kinds of games that resonate with you for a long time to come,” Supergiant said in a blog post he went on to say “Word-of-mouth is what kept Bastion going for way, way longer than we could have imagined, and it’s what’s kept Transistor going strong, too,” Ios versions of both Transistor and its sister game Bastion have also been announced, but it seems Xbox users are still out in the cold, unable to play the beautiful story heavy RPGs.
It looks like PS4 owners long wait is finally over. Aftere years of waiting for the exclusive games and content that was promised at the system released. PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida, who said in an interview with 4Gamer that 2016 is shaping up to be a banner year for the PS4. “2016 marks an unprecedented rush of big titles for PS4,” Yoshida said. “It’s also the year of the long-awaited launch of PlayStation VR. It’s the year PS4 users, and those who are on the fence on whether to buy it will absolutely think, ‘It’s good to have a PS4.’ Please look forward to it.”
This years exclusives fro the PS4 include Street Fighter 5, Uncharted 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Gran turismo sport, and the last guardian.
Blood bowl is already an awesome game, if you like the world of Warhammer 40K, but it seems developer Cyanide is determined to make it even better. They will be releasing four new races for play in their Blood Bowl game (chess for warhammer) for free.
“As long as you own Blood Bowl 2 before the launch of a race DLC,” Cyanide says, “you’ll get that DLC andsubsequent DLC for free, from the list of four planned DLCs.” The first of these, the Norse, “should be available at the end of February”, with the other three releasing “on a regular basis”. The four being added are the Norse, Undead, Nurgle and Necromantic races. Those being axe wielding vikings, Zombies (duuuuhh), agents of the chaos god Nurgle, and another race whom summon undead. These are all Warhammer fantasy races, so most folks who arent heavy in to Warhammer may not recognize them.
Personally I love this game, its like chess but with out most of the complex strategy and whole lot more blood and guts. Being good at chess is no guarantee of victory on this battlefield, and honestly its much better to just play to your units abilities. If you are intersted here is IGN’s trailer of what the game plays like.
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima remains intent on making “big games” in the wake of his departure from Konami, a task that he feels is his “role in this world.”
In a new interview with the New Yorker, Kojima revealed he considered taking a year-long trip to a deserted island after leaving Konami under reportedly less-than-amicable terms. He has decided to keep making games after sharing the plan with an unnamed ” Hollywood friend” who suggested he instead keep working.
“Hearing that affirmed to me that my role in this world is to keep on making big games for as long as I can,” Kojima said. “That is the mission I’ve been given in life.”
Despite this, Kojima suggested earlier this week that the first project from his new studio, Kojima Productions, could be “smaller-scale.” Following whatever that first game turns out to be, the studio “could consider movies, animations, anything.” I think this is a good thing honestly, lets let him get his legs under him as an independent studio find and work with good talent, and then we can ask for another epic. In the new interview, Kojima seemed to be happy with the flexibility that being independent provides.
“When working in big companies, especially Japanese companies, every little thing has to be approved beforehand, and you need paperwork to do anything, Now that I’m independent, I can do what I want with much more speed. I don’t need to invest time in unnecessary presentations. I shoulder the risk.” this idea fascinates me, Japanese business culture is very structured and rigid, but will Kojima’s new studio be more fluid and flexible, or will he ultimately fall back on the ways of traditional Japanese style development?
It seems that at least for new Kojima is quite content to even have the right to say what ever he wants as he said regarding Konami as a company “When I was in a company, my personal statements could be taken as the overall direction of the company, as such, I couldn’t say just anything.”
Konami has said they intend to keep making Metal Gear games, so it’s unclear if Kojima was commenting directly on his former employer, but this shift is brought up by the New Yorker, which then quotes Kojima as saying, “If you’re only focused on the profits immediately in front of you, the times will leave you behind. It becomes impossible to catch up again.”
Sony announced earlier this week that it’s partnering with Kojima Productions on its first game. That title will debut on PlayStation 4 before later being released for PC.
Just cause 3 has no shortage of easter eggs, so will come as no suprise to many people that a popular internet meme from the last year also slipped in. Some people may remember “the dress” which made the rounds on the internet causing many people to question their perception of color with its simple question, is it white and Gold? or black and blue?
Originating on steam from a user called Ricochet227 it seems that the developers of Just Cause too felt the needs to weigh in on the fight between yellow and black in their own way. Steam user Ricochet227 posted pictures of the two women, saying he found them on a rooftop in a settlement called Citate Di Rivello. One woman is wearing a black-and-blue dress, while the other is wearing one that looks more white and gold.
Gold and White? Black and Blue?
Steam user AliceTheGorgon posted an image, saying the dressses are “actually different colors in-game.” Sparking a new the ages old debate of weather or not this dress was Black with blue accents, or Gold with white. Personally I just love that the developers of JC3 have enouhg of a sense of humor to include things like this in their game. Though i haven’t had a chance to play JC3 yet, I hope to soon, and our review will be out this week, so stay tuned!
Last weeks Game Awards were apparently a great sucess. If you by chance missed the show, and want to know what went down and who did what, take a few minutes to give our breakdown a read. But if like me you watched it live you already know that compared to last year at least it was a MASSIVE sucess. Now Polygon has an interview with show creator, financier, and host Geoff Keighley, where in he says that the show pulled over 2 million viewers and did over 20% better than last year. Additionally the social media game was completly crushed with over a billion (yes thats with a B) Twitter impressions the night of the game awards. That combination of factors esentailly guarantees us another iteration of the game award next year.
Keighley said in an interview with Polygon yesterday “That success, , means that a Game Awards 2016 show is very likely, though it’s too early to say when or where it will be held. With the growth this year and all the sponsor support, I feel pretty confident we will be back next December for The Game Awards 2016,” he said. He went on to say he was very happy with the format of this year’s show and that he feels it addressed the three big concerns he had coming out of the inaugural show. Personally I agree, and if the production values were just a tiny bit better the show would have been perfect. It seems Geoff is on the same page as me as he went on to say “A tighter production technically, a shorter run time, and more on-stage awards,” Keighley said. “The format feels good, and it’s been nice to see the audience response — two solid years means we’re on the right path.”
The founder and chief presenter did mention at least one this he wanted his show to do better “Next year will be about adding other elements around the show,” Keighley said. “One thing I wanted to do this year was a big eSports tournament the day of the show, but we just didn’t have enough bandwidth to get it done.”
Honestly this really shouldn’t be a suprise, E-sports is a huge draw, and again unsurprising to most people will be the reaffirmation that an awards show about games doesnt need to be on TV, but rather should stream live on the consoles, Twitch, and YouTube. Hopefully next year we get a similar format, as I personally really enjoyed the musical talents of Chvrches and Deadmau5, as well as the moving tribute to Satoru Iwata, and Geoffs call out of Konami for their shit treatment of their golden goose.
overall I loved the show, and really hope that it comes back stronger, better, and faster next year, and it seems like Geoff shares my opinion.
