Nintendo has another 2DS bundle in the way just in time for the holiday selling season.
Nintendo unveiled today that on August 25th, a sleek white-and-red Nintendo 2DS system with the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game pre-installed is hitting store shelves in Canada! The bundle joins previously released bundles with Mario Kart 7 and Yo-Kai Watch.

Free until February 1st 2013, you can pick up a set of classic Mario levels if you own New Super Mario Bros. 2! From the youtube video the levels seem to be chosen from the first Super Mario game and Super Mario Bros 3. There’s even an original Mario Bros moment in there too it looks like.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a true sequel to the original DS title, following a similar flow and feeling to the overall game. If you’ve been eager for more levels to explore in the traditional Mario platformer style, this game is for you.
There is a lot of content we’ve come to know and love in Mario games, as well as a mix of new surprises here. There’s red coins to collect in a short time frame, three star coins per level, and invisible blocks scattered about ready to be discovered. Wait games release on Sundays? Well they do, if you happen to be a fan of Nintendo’s first party titles. Alongside Mario’s latest adventure, New Super Mario Bros 2, Ninty also left fans a present in the form of the 3DS XL. If there was a Sunday that could take half a week’s pay, it’d be August 19th!
The 3DS XL boasts a better view angle for both 3D and multiple players, a 90% larger screen and rounder edges, making the handheld easier on the palms during extended periods of play. The system retails for $1999 USD, $30 than the price of the standard 3DS. It should be noted that XL does not replace the existing 3DS.
New Super Mario Bros 2 takes cues from the 2006 DS original and revisits classic 2D Mario gameplay with a few twists. This latest entry marks the return of the raccoon suit, originally introduced in Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES, and features an emphasis on coin collection! NSMB2 has a suggested retail price of $39.99.

North American Club Nintendo members who plan on downloading New Super Mario Bros. 2 can look forward to receiving double the amount of coins to use on the site than those who don’t download the game. The download bonus for the people over in Japan, however, will be a free copy of Donkey Kong: Original Edition. Yes, the 1981 arcade classic will be an incentive for the Japanese to start buying more games digitally. Nintendo plans on making games available with purchasable physical and digital copies, and a promotion like this one will help spread the word.
Donkey Kong: Original Edition is special because it includes an extra stage that the 1983 Famicom version of the game was originally intended to have. This edition of the game has never been sold, and it was only included in the Mario 25th Anniversary red Wii bundle back in 2010 for the European market. Sadly, there’s no information on when, or if, Donkey Kong: Original Edition will ever make it here to the states. Read More

The third entry in the New Super Mario Bros series was announced this evening by Nintendo via streaming conference. Super Mario Bros 2 will be released this August in Japan according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
Alongside the announcement and the reveal of the game’s logo, which you can check out above, a few screenshots are making the rounds/ Interestingly the game seems to be inspired by the classic Super Mario Bros 3 (1990, NES). Elements from that game present in the screens include the P Wing item, which in previous games allow you to skip single stages, and the Power Leaf power up which allows Mario to fly.
