September’s Games With Gold Titles Announced

Posted on August 24, 2016 by Joshua Rust

Microsoft has announced the September line-up for their games with gold program. Before we get to next month’s line-up, be sure to pick up this month’s offerings before they are gone. Those being Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate and Beyond Good & Evil HD.

For those of you with a Xbox One, you will be treated to Earthlock: Festival of Magic – which you can grab from September 1st – 30th.  The other Xbox One offering is Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China – which will be available from September 15th – October 15th. As for the Xbox 360 games, you’ll get Forza Horizon September 1st-15th and Mirror’s Edge September 16th – 30th.  It’s also worth noting that both of the Xbox 360 games have been added to the backwards compatibility catalogue for the Xbox One…so technically you’re getting four games that you can play on the Xbox One this month!

Have Some Faith In The Closed Beta For Mirror’s Edge Catalyst

Posted on February 4, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Electronic Arts confirmed today that a closed beta for the upcoming open world parkour title Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Potential testers can already fill out a registration form on the games official website for the chance to test drive the game before its release. You’ll also need an EA account in order to be considered for the Mirror’s Edge closed beta.

No date has been announced for to closed beta, the length it will run or what content it will contain. If previous closed betas run by other publishers are any indication it will probably give testers a small slice of the open world from early in the narrative for at least a few days.

EA has also released a new trailer explaining some of Faith’s back story in this reboot of the 2008 original.

DICE Teases Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst News This Week

Posted on February 1, 2016 by Kirk Williford

Fresh off of teasing (and deliveringStar Wars Battlefront news last week, DICE is at it yet again — this time, for the upcoming long-awaited sequel to Mirror’s Edge.

This morning, the official Mirror’s Edge Twitter account tweeted a picture from Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst along with a simple proclamation: “Faith is returning. Stay alert this week.”

It’s been awhile since we last heard from the Catalyst team. The game was playable at GamesCom and PAX last Fall, but was then abruptly delayed from it’s original February launch to a new date of May 24th, 2016. Whatever is coming, it can’t come soon enough!

2016 and Gaming: A Year in Preview

Posted on December 28, 2015 by Kenny Keelan

2016featured

As we’re closing in on the end of one year and getting ready to start the next, a lot of people are reflecting on the year that’s past and others are looking at the year to come. I’m one of those looking to the future and I’ll tell you why: 2016 and the coming years after are going to be an extremely exciting time for games. While gaming has always been a longtime passion of mine, I do have to admit that it has felt like, in the last couple generations, innovation and creativity had been been steadily decreasing while market saturation has been steadily increasing. It wasn’t looking good as the market was looking stale and things weren’t change. Sure, there were gimmicks that came and went but nothing really stuck. There were few real surprises and the things that jumped aboard the hype train were mostly games we’d been anticipating and asking for, for years. There was a lot of vaporware, a lot of E3s that came and went that left us wanting more and spending more time laughing at the flaws than celebrating the wonders. In my honest opinion, the fifth generation was the last generation that truly brought us wonders we never thought we’d see possible and all the last couple generations did was expand on that. We never saw anything truly groundbreaking and that’s part of why 2016 is going to be an exciting year: we are going to see a lot of broken ground and whether or not it will be truly successful, we finally see companies going out and taking risks and those are the kinds of moves that change gaming for the better. Follow the jump for our preview of the year to come and what to watch for!
