Games For Gold Announced For August 2015

If you are a fan of action games than this month’s crop of free titles for Xbox Live’s Games With Gold might interest you.

First up for Xbox One – just before the launch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is MGS V: Ground Zeroes for free from August 1st – 15th. Top down zombie apocalypse survival title How To Survive: Storm Warning Edition will be free from Aug 16th – August 31st.  

Xbox 360 owners in for a bit of a treat with a pair of games from the folks at 4A Games. Both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light will be available during the first two weeks and last two weeks of August respectively

Microsoft is certainly killing it when it comes to AAA titles on their subscription service. MGSV: Ground Zeroes was already free for PlayStation Plus subscribers last month and Metro: Last Light appeared on Plus in 2014.

June 2015 PS Plus Games Includes Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Ground Zeroes the playable prequel to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain sneaks its way onto the Instant Games Collection next month as one of the free games for June 2015. PlayStation 4 owners can also enjoy the turn based strategy game Skulls of the Shogun as well.  PS3 owners should be prepared to reach for the skies with Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and play through some randomly generated 2D platforming levels with Cloudberry Kingdom. On the PS Vita front Sony is offer two indie titles with Super Exploding Zoo and Futuridium both of which are also cross buy on PS4.

MGS V “Tagging Demo” Is Absolutely Fantastic

Hideo Kojima’s next Metal Gear Solid title has had an enigmatic development cycle, originally revealed at  PAX 2012 and then followed up by a seemingly related mystery trailer at the Spike VGAs last year, fans have waited with baited breath for more information about the game. With the Tokyo Games Show coming to a close we’ve finally got our eyes on a brand new 12 minute gameplay clip – and you can too!

Featuring a “special mission” from Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, this new lengthy clip shows us how the tagging system works versus the original Metal Gear Solid’s Soliton Radar System. Instead of a small overhead section of the map displayed in the right hand corner of the screen Snake  has access to a small PDA type device that will display a map (sans enemies) without breaking the flow of gameplay or pausing. There are also two different mechanics that change how you monitor enemies movement and end alerts.  Bringing things in line a little bit with Splinter Cell Conviction while still retaining the tense stealth action the MGS franchise is known for.Read More
