Sony has released a substantial update to the PlayStation 4’s firmware that adds a number of exciting options to Sony’s latest home console. Headlining the “Yukimura” update are a whole suite of accessibility options, the long awaiting ability to suspend games when entering rest mode and 60 FPS Remote Play on PS Vita!

PS Vita Firmware 2.01 Now Live

PlayStation Vita owners hold on your hats because a new firmware is now live! Okay, so it’s a minor update but it does fix a rather nasty bug that occurred when attempting to sync your PS+ Vita game saves to the cloud. Hopefully no one reading this has lost their saves, with great games like Gravity Rush and Uncharted: Golden Abyss on PSN Plus it would be a shame to have to restart.
The update was announced on twitter this morning and should only take a few moments to apply. On twitter Sony wrote:
“PS Vita system software update 2.01 coming soon. Will fix the issues with automatic synching of PS Plus game saves”

PSOne Classics Come To Vita With Firmware 1.8

During GamesCom Sony took the wraps off of firmware version 1.8 for the PlayStation Vita. Before you groan and mumble *not another firmware update* you should know that this update adds a few highly requested features including the ability to play PS One classics on the system.
Starting in two weeks, on August 28th, you’ll be able to play FFVII and Tomb Raider II on the PS Vita. These two classics were announced during Sony’s E3 press conference this past June. We’re not sure why they don’t just open up the ability for all available PS ONE classics to be enjoyed on the Vita. Perhaps due to the different architecture of the system. You can also use the PS Vita as a PS3 controller!
