Riftcat Software’s VRidge platform which allows PC owners to play Oculus Rift enabled games using a Google Cardboard viewer and their smartphone has announced that they’ve released an update to support the Steam VR suite of tools. This latest feature is currently in beta so bugs are to be expected.
This latest beta works with some big games including Elite Dangerous, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and a few others. Find out more at their full blog post here.
Here are the partial notes Riftcat released about the supported games:
- Euro Truck Simulator 2
- You need to go to Steam properties of ETS and use beta branch named “Oculus”. Then you need to add -openvr in launch arguments.
- Elite: Dangerous
- Virtual Desktop / Steam Desktop Theater
- Those apps have extra lag and capture problems because essentialy everything is captured and rendered twice as many times as native VR games. We are trying to figure out ways to reduce the latency in those cases.
- We recommend using 1920×1080 for stream resolution. Make sure your phone has 1080p display as well.
