Sony’s Mark Cerny demoed the console’s 4K graphics with games such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect Andromeda. Because the console features enhanced hardware, games will be able to employ higher resolutions and greater detail. In addition, HDR lighting is coming to all PS4 models via a software update.

Telltale brings 7 Days to die to PS4 and Xbox 1

Posted on June 28, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Today is finally the day, Telltale Publishing announced the release of hit survival horde crafting game 7 Days to Die on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Telltale have teamed up with the developer The Fun Pimps (yes that’s their actual name), to bring this horror game to consoles.

7 Days to Die is now available in stores at retail and digitally in North America on the PlayStation Network for PlayStation 4, the Xbox Games Store for Xbox One. As an added bonus the game will also be available starting July 1st both digitally and at retail for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Europe.
The console version of 7 Days to Die adds a new multiplayer mode supporting local split-screen for couch play. The game will also be supported by exciting DLC content, beginning with a Walking Dead skin pack featuring characters from the Telltale series, set to release in the coming weeks.
Set in a brutally unforgiving post-apocalyptic world overrun by the undead, 7 Days to Die is an open-world survival game that is a unique combination of first person shooter, survival horror, tower defense, and role-playing games.  Players will have to master combat, crafting, looting, mining, and exploration to succeed. This is a particularly fun game to stream and make video content for as its full of fun moments, and exciting adventure.
Steve Allison, SVP Publishing at Telltale, Inc, said about the games current popularity:
7 Days to Die has already proven to be wildly popular with over 1.5 million PC users worldwide, and we’re thrilled to be expanding this unique take on the survival genre to console players everywhere. The Fun Pimps have created something special with this title. The way the game seamlessly combines elements from disparate yet complementary genres, it all comes together in a challenging, terrifying, and above all, enormously fun experience – one that we’re incredibly excited to bring to a whole new audience on consoles.”

COLECO Chameleon: a rebranding of RETRO VGS into a COLECO comeback

Posted on December 18, 2015 by Erika

Fans new and old of the ColecoVision will probably be surprised to hear that a new cartridge-based system in partnership with Retro Video Game Systems, Inc will be coming out in early 2016. Dubbed the COLECO Chameleon, the system will be capable of playing classic games, and is also noted for being able to play new releases in 8-bit, 16-bit-, and 32-bit styles, which are still quite popular formats with adult gamers today. In a day of age where games are played on discs or flash cards, having a new cartridge-based system will be quite interesting to see that isn’t just a rehash of old systems released like the Sega Genesis or Atari 2600.

While information is still somewhat scant, it’s going to be demoed at the Toy Fair New York 2016, February 13-16. Upon some digging from their Twitter @RETROVGS, RGS had an unfunded Indiegogo campaign for a “RETRO VGS” system which looks quite similar to the now upcoming COLECO Chameleon, not only in design, but also it’s aim for a cartridge-based gaming system. With that said, this current console project looks to be a re-tooling of their previous attempt at doing a game system.

Going off of that, it wouldn’t be too far off to guess that the specifications will be quite similar to the following listed from that Indiegogo page:Read More

PlayStation 4 Reaches Retail On November 15th

Posted on August 20, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Get ready because the PlayStation 4 launches in less than 90 days! Sony revealed at their GamesCom 2013 press conference that their latest home console will launch in North America on November 15th in North America, while gamers in Europe will have to wait two weeks for their consoles on November 29th.

Sony’s suggested retail price is $399 USD/CDN or 399 Euros, but I suspect that that price will skyrocket once units hit Ebay. If you haven’t already pre-ordered your console then you might be out of luck, as EB Games/GameStop ceased taking pre-orders some time ago.

That means, if you are reading this from Canada or the United States, you need to save approximately $4.45 every day until the console is released, or you know just pay the whole thing off in one lump sum.

We’ll have more on the PlayStation 4 as the system’s launch approaches.

Sony Announces Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle

Posted on January 17, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

The PlayStation 3 gets a winter refresh with the announcement of the Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle. This brand new bundle comes packed with a special white 500 GB PlayStation 3 console, a white dual shock controller and one year of PlayStation Plus. This brand new package will be available for $299.99 in both the United States and Canada.

The hard drive in this newest bundle is certainly a lot larger than some of the other bundles on the market which in the past have included the 160GB & 250GB slim. Sony’s latest offer, In my opinion is probably the best deal available for any new player that hasn’t jumped into this generation. By including a half terabyte hard drive as well as instant access to up to 12 PlayStation 3 games through Plus, new gamers can jump right in without any added expense.

We’ve got a quote provided by Sony regarding the Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle after the jump.Read More
