Archie Comics’ Megaman Is Great

Posted on December 2, 2012 by Les Major

When I bought my first Megaman comics by Archie I was concerned since in most comic stores I was lead to a specific kids section. It made me think the comics would be pretty basic, but that’s actually not true. From the inner conflict Megaman faces during his first battles taking down rampaging robot masters to a convention held hostage by an anti-robot protest group the comics are quite involving!

In 2013 Megaman will be meeting up with Sonic in a 12-part cross over. Written by Ian Flynn it is still unclear how the characters will meet, or on what grounds the story will develop. Ian is very excited about the project and definitely wants to make the most out of this opportunity. So if you’re a Sonic or Megaman fan, keep a look out for it. In the meantime Archie Comics has back issues as well as graphic novels if you want to get caught up on either hero.

Posted on November 27, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Capcom’s fighting games have revitalized gamers’ interest in this once-dormant genre. Can they continue their success with a mash-up of two of the greatest fighting franchises in Street Fighter X Tekken? I got my mitts on the Vita version of the game and after spending several hours playing through the online, offline and extra modes I am ready to report on why you should or shouldn’t pick up Capcom’s latest.Read More

Dragon’s Dogma | Review

Posted on October 30, 2012 by Jason Fayta

Editor’s note:  Storms are raging on the east coast of Canada and the United States right now. Here’s a review from our very own Jason Fayta as he looks back on this past spring’s Dragon’s Dogma. Our original content schedule should be back on track soon!

Version tested: PlayStation 3

Capcom, famed developer and publisher that has brought gamers such franchises as Resident Evil and Street Fighter, enters the action role-playing genre on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with Dragon’s Dogma, a successful foray into fantasy open-world role-playing games.

Taking inspiration from Skyrim, Dark Souls, and Capcom’s own offerings, Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma stands out by being derivative of several games and in turn becomes uniquely its own title and hopefully it’ll be the start of a new series.Read More

There is no hope left… that is until you take control in the next entry of Capcom’s popular survival horror franchise with Resident Evil 6. The game was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a PC release sometime in 2013.  This review is based on my experiences with the Xbox 360 version of the game. Is Resident Evil 6 worth it, read on if you dare…Read More

Street Fighter X Tekken Version 2013 Update

Posted on October 14, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

Announced during New York Comi-Con, Ono announced that Street Fighter X Tekken is receiving a balanced update like Super Street Fighter 4 AE before it, in the form of Street Fighter x Tekken Version 2013. Just like the SSF4 AE 2012 update, Street Figher X Tekken Version 2013 will be a free upgrade as well. Other than character balancing, the system is getting a few tweaks to improve the overall gameplay as the game has earned the ire from many players and it’s a reason many tournaments are slowly dropping the game from its schedule. For character balances, so far only fourteen character changes were announced but with a roster of 50 characters (55 on PS3) expect some announcements for the rest of the roster. Read More

A DmC Demo Is Coming, And Mundus Is Back

Posted on October 14, 2012 by Seung Lee

Great news for the few people that are actually excited for Ninja Theory’s DmC. Earlier at New York Comic Con, Capcom announced that the game will have a demo on the PS3 and Xbox 360, sometime before its actual release date. There was no word on a PC demo, though.

In addition, Mundus has been confirmed to be returning in DmC. If you’ve ever played the first Devil May Cry, you’ll remember that Mundus was the Demon King and big bad, which Dante had to defeat. It’s probably safe to say that Mundus will also be the main villain in DmC, or at least a major one. Lastly, people who care about story might be excited to know that the game will take a more in-depth look at Dante and Vergil’s parents: Sparda and Eva.

DmC is set to release on January 15, 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version’s release date is still up in the air.

Darkstalkers Digital Collection Announced, Teaser Shown

Posted on October 12, 2012 by Jeff Wade

Kicking off New York Comic Con with a scare, Capcom announced plans to release a collection of titles from their monster button masher Darkstalkers series for digital release in early 2013, and continued to fan the flames of a full on sequel.

Darkstalkers Resurrection will bundle the series second game Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge along with the beloved Darkstalkers 3 together in one digital bundle. The collection is being handled by Iron Galaxy and will come with the same filters, GGPO online play and dynamic challenges that were seen in their ports of Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition and more recently in Marvel vs. Capcom Origins.

The digital title will run $14.99 on PSN and 1200 Microsoft points on XBLA, and will release when the full moon of the new year wanes to the early days of the new. Or early 2013, your preference.Read More

Sony Holiday Showcase: Our Brief Time With DMC Devil May Cry

Posted on October 10, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ninja Thoery’s take on DMC has been quite polarizing given Capcom’s decision to reboot the franchise. After playing through a full tutorial and boss fight I can say with certainty that Dante’s form may have changed but he is bringing all of the style and sass you expect.

The one thing I really took away from our time with the game was the impression that Ninja theory has nailed the core gameplay while making minor adjustments. If you’re worried that Dante’s classic maneuvers like juggling enemies and pulling off fancy moves are missing or some how altered, I can tell you they are all accounted for.

This becomes really apparent with the gun play. Whether we were slicing enemies using Dante’s sword or suspending enemies with a cushion of bullets, everything felt smooth. As we navigated the gothic city streets, Dante’s acrobatics  stayed true to form with his fall speed slowing down as he plastered enemies full of holes. Running along the walls and platforming was also very responsive, although it remains to be seen how well the gameplay fares outside of a brief demo.

I can’t wait to fill Dante’s shoes again when the full game ships in Feb ’13, The demo also did feature one of the series’ large scale boss battles but due to the early state of the game there wasn’t much to say in regards to it. The boss battle followed the action trope of dodging attacks, learning patterns and exploiting a weak point.

On-Disc DLC In RE6?

Posted on October 8, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

Most of you are probably thinking in your head “I knew it was too good to be true” but hold off on that thought for a moment.  Modders were mining the date on the Resident Evil 6 disc (since when is mining now the trend for new games?) and found a code on the disc for a No Hope difficulty setting along with other taunts, costumes and melee attacks for the controllable characters. Read More

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Will Live Up To Its Name

Posted on October 2, 2012 by Seung Lee

While Capcom’s Monster Hunter games have always been praised more for their gameplay, rather than their graphics, it seems as though that’ll change for the upcoming Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. MH3U will apparently be running in 1080p and supporting 5.1 channel sound, which is actually revolutionary for the series.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is set to release on the Wii U and 3DS, sometime in March next year. The Wii U version will include online play via Nintendo Network servers, but the 3DS won’t. Check out Tale Tale Source for the source, if you can read Japanese.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen Expansion Announced At TGS

Posted on September 21, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Just announced is an major expansion to Capcom’s new IP Dragon’s Dogma – titled “Dark Arisen.” Granted there is not a lot of information about this expansion other than it is tentatively dated for 2013. This game, even for its flaws, it one of the best new IPs I’ve played this year and I truly enjoy the heck out it.

Here is the teaser trailer for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (and it’s just that…a teaser):

[youtube id=”i6uJMg_jPvI” width=”600″ height=”350″]

Also, there are additional modes supposedly set to launch before the end of the year as well: Speedrun & Hard mode.

It’s pretty self-explanatory, but Speedrun will challenge you to clear the game within a certain time. Doing so will earn specific in-game equipment based on the time you completed it in. Hard mode will be just that…Hard. Enemies will be tougher but completing the game will earn you with even more special equipment.

So, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will launch sometime in 2013. I’m excited about it, how about you all?
