Microsoft Reveals ‘Xbox Live Ultimate Sale’

Posted on July 2, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Not to be outdone by Sony’s own online sale, Microsoft has revealed their roster of discounted games for July ’13. Headlining all of this is a massive one day sale on some of 2012’s best games including Far Cry 3,  Max Payne 3, Borderlands 2 and Assassins Creed III. Considering the most expensive of these is $20, and several of them are priced at just $10 – be prepared to empty your wallet. The Bioware games are worth the price of entry alone, you’re guaranteed to get at least a few dozen hours out of them!

If you’re looking to save on some older games on the cheap Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect and Prey are all $5, along with some other vintage 360 titles.

Assault Dragon Keep Today In Borderlands 2

Posted on June 25, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Today is the day! The final piece of Season Pass DLC for Borderlands 2 has hit the marketplace just waiting for you to download it. If you’re feeling conflicted on whether or not to buy this (if you don’t already have the Season Pass), you can check out this developer diary and see what they have to say about it.

Personally I’m stoked about it because as I’ve stated many times before, it combines two of my favorite things gaming related: Borderlands & Fantasy.

To celebrate the releases of “Tiny Tina’s Assault On Dragon Keep”, Gearbox has released a launch trailer:

Borderlands 2 – Assault On Dragon Keep Dev Diary

Posted on June 20, 2013 by Joshua Rust

The final piece of DLC in the Borderlands 2 series is nearly here. In fact, it releases next week. If you happened to miss out on the Krieg gameplay video, I highly suggest you check it out here.

I’m anticipating Assault On Dragon Keep to be the best of the four DLC’s for quite a few reasons. The most important one is because it’s in Tiny Tina’s ever imaginative head. Yeah, imagine living inside that kids head… Another reason is because this download is the Borderlands version of Dungeons & Dragons, complete with dragons, wizards, golems, and more. Everything you could ever want!

To hear what the developers have to say about Assault On Dragon Keep, keep reading after the jump.

Today on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, the Borderlands 2 Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack is available courtesy of Gearbox. Free to those who purchased the Season Pass and costing 400 MSP/5.00 for those who didn’t buy the season pass. The main thing the pack brings to the table is the one thing a level cap from 51 to 61 which many players have been requesting for some time. Pearlscent-grade weapons and “Ancient” E-Tech relics are also going to be added to the game as well. Below you can read the full details of the general upgrades and the pack specific upgrades:Read More

Borderlands 2 Gets Level Cap Increase & Sixth Playable Character

Posted on March 25, 2013 by Joshua Rust

We all knew it was a matter of time before Gearbox Software announced a level cap increase. But we also pondered what the pricing would be. Would it be free for the season pass holders? Are they going to do the insane and make us pay more for it? And when the heck is it going to release? Also, at the beginning of the month they teased a new, 6th playable character as well. When is that going to release? What kind of character is it going to be? Gearbox has finally answered most of these questions – to an extent. Read More

Celebrate the Luck of the Zafords in Borderlands 2 This Weekend!

Posted on March 14, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Gearbox Software is at it again, offering up some new skins and a SMG for your characters in Borderlands 2. This time it is in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Here is how Gearbox Software describes the holiday in Borderlands terms:

Each year, around this time, the Zaford clan takes a break from their war with the Hodunk bandit family to celebrate their good fortune and honor those that have passed on, such as that time Scooter buried their son alive in a shallow grave.

During this time, those who play Borderlands 2 while connected to the internet will see a temporary increase in the drop rates and rarity of shields! Plus, Absorb shields will have a better chance to absorb enemy bullets and Booster shields will have a higher chance of dropping a shield Booster when damaged.Read More

Gearbox Teases New Playable Vault Hunter

Posted on March 8, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Again, the word “tease” is the main emphasis here – straight from the Gearbox panel at SXSW. It has been confirmed that this new character will NOT be part of the Season Pass for Borderlands 2. From the brief images in the trailer, it appears this new character is a melee specialist. A release date has not been specified, but Matt Armstrong stated, “DLC is announced on a very tight schedule, and I don’t think you’ll have to wait long until you see that character.”Read More

“Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt” Is The Next Borderlands 2 DLC?

Posted on December 13, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Tech savy users (and Playstation 3 users) have uncovered what appears to be the next DLC for Borderlands 2 titled: Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt. Users over at the Gearbox Forums have spotted details that were released in today’s patch. Not to mention that the trophies have shown up as well on the Playstation 3 trophies.

The three achievements/trophies are: Completed the mission “The Fall of Nakayama”, Completed all Hammerlock’s Hunt side missions, & Discovered all named locations in Hammerlock’s Hunt.

So I think it’s safe to assume that there will be even more raid bosses as the first two DLC’s have had. I just want to know when we are going to see a level cap increase? How about you all?

Borderlands 2 DLC #2 Says Hello To Mr. Torgue

Posted on November 16, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Just confirmed via Mr. Torgue’s Twitter account, it appears that the next DLC installment for the ever popular Borderlands 2 will hit marketplaces next week on November 20th! Just in time for my Thanksgiving holiday break, on yeah. I guess I know what I will be playing.

Leaked just nearly a month ago was “Torgue’s Campaign Of Carnage”. Strangely enough, there’s not much information on what this “Campaign of Carnage” actually is. It almost sounds like Mad Moxxi’s Underdome from the name of the DLC, but I highly doubt it’s anything like that because if you look at the trophy list (scroll to the bottom) for the PS3 version, it doesn’t seem like that is the case.

Either way, I expect new details about this mystery DLC to be out very soon as it only has a few day left before it releases. If you have been living in a skag pile and haven’t picked up Borderlands 2 yet because you don’t think it’s worth your money then check out our review. Maybe that will sway you into picking up this awesome game!

Borderlands 2 “Graveyard” Issue Patched

Posted on November 7, 2012 by Joshua Rust

The Xb0x 360 community can release a big sigh if relief as Gearbox has now fixed the “graveyard” issue that has been plaguing users here recently. Reported only a few weeks ago, the “graveyard” virus affected players saves – most people losing all of their data.

So it is now safe to go online and play public matches once again! Hopefully none of you were affected by this virus. If you were, I hope that doesn’t deter you from starting it up again.

If you haven’t had the chance to try out Borderlands 2, we highly recommend you do so!

Virus Plaguing Borderlands 2, Patch Released Today

Posted on October 22, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Apparently there is a virus going around through the Xbox 360 version of Borderlands 2 dubbed: ‘Graveyard.sav’.  It affects your save file and can be aquired by playing in public games or with friends that have played in public games.

Here is the official statement from Gearbox Software:

“Recently a few users have begun violating the Xbox Live Code of Conduct by using an external application to maliciously disrupt the experience and sabotage characters of legitimate Borderlands 2 players on Xbox 360. Fortunately it’s easy to avoid this scenario.

While we work to resolve this as quickly as possible with our partners, concerned Xbox 360 players of Borderlands 2 should consider playing online with trusted individuals in non-public sessions. This does not affect players on PC or PlayStation 3.

We also advise that before ceasing play, users always select “Save and Quit” from within the pause menu while their character is alive. If after the death of their character players find themselves at the main menu of Borderlands 2 instead of respawning in-game, be sure to immediately select “Continue” to resume playing as that character.

We ask that players report any suspicious behavior in Borderlands 2 to spotted@gearboxsoftware.com and provide as much details and documentation of their disrupted experience as possible to assist us in our investigation.

For discussion of this topic, please use this thread: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/sh…75#post3056075

So basically the best thing you can do until this issue is resolved is not play with anyone that you don’t trust and don’t play with anyone who plays in public matches. So all in all: keep your friends close.

For details about the patch that was released today (which doesn’t fix the Graveyard issue), continue reading after the jump.

Borderlands 2 | Review

Posted on October 19, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Pandora. It’s been a few years since we last met … my how you have changed. Gone are the dull browns and bleak backdrops. Vanished is the weak storyline. Gearbox didn’t just rest on their laurels and pump out a sequel that is just like its predecessor. No, Gearbox has taken Borderlands shoved it into a metamorphic pod and created a whole new improved animal. A game that takes everything the original was and turns it into something even more incredible.

The hardest choice was picking which character to start out with because all four look so great. Maya, the Siren, is a great choice because of her team health regeneration. She also is the Borderlands equivalent of a battle mage. Able to freeze her enemies in the air while you and your friends unleash upon the helpless victim. Salvador, is probably my least favorite. Not to say he isn’t useful, his Gunzerking can wipe out a mass crowd of enemies. He just wasn’t my playstyle. Zer0 & Axton are amazing in their own right as well. Axton can upgrade to rockets on his turrent (or even have two turrets out at the same time). He’s a great crowd controller and an all around balanced character. As for Zer0, his melee can be amazing if you can stay alive long enough to use it. He’s great at sniping enemies, especially if you take the right skill tree upgrades.
