Posted on June 11, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

EA kicked things off yesterday afternoon with the first gameplay demo of the upcoming Battlefield V. We already knew that BFV wold set during World War II and will feature playable female soldiers both in the campaign mode and online. While no gameplay of the rumored Battle Royale mode was shown during the conference, nor were concrete details divulged, developers from DICE did confirm that BFV will ship with a Battle Royale mode when the game arrives this fall. DICE’s Frostbite Engine once again provides the near photo-realistic graphics and physics for Battlefield V. Improvements made to the engine for

Posted on June 11, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

Square Enix revealed the first in-engine gameplay trailer for the upcoming third entry in the Tomb Raider reboot franchise, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This 3 minute long cut of sequences seems to be taken from the same “first hour” demo that I got to play at the Shadow of the Tomb Raider reveal event back in April. Demo stations featuring a slice of Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be playable at both Square Enix’s E3 booth and Microsoft’s Xbox Experience Theatre. E3 is also the first place that the public will get a look at SOTR running on

Command and Conquer Returns As a Mobile Mini-RTS

Posted on June 9, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

During the EA Play Pre-E3 press conference a former RTS mainstay made its return in the form of Command & Conquer: Rivals – A presumably Free to Play title similar to Clash of Clans and other action hybrid titles.  Longtime staples of the genre like resource collection and unit production are still present in this scaled down, e-sports focus take on Real time Strategy. Two players square off against each other on a small map to claim a central point and launch a pair of nukes at their opponents to claim victory. Several iconic units from C&C history did make

Wizard of Legend (Nintendo Switch) | Review

Posted on June 8, 2018 by Meghan Kass

When I first saw images of Wizard of Legend, I will be completely honest and say I rolled my eyes and groaned a bit. To me it seemed like yet another indie game using pixel art to try and cash in on nostalgic value and save some money by using a less involved art direction. I couldn’t see how the developer and publisher, Contingent99 could sell me on this game at all. I’ve played dungeon crawlers, I’ve played “8 bit” pixel style games and overall I just had a “been there, done that” attitude about it all. After I watched

Major Quake Champions Patch Makes Fundamental Changes To Loot System, Adds Bots

Posted on June 8, 2018 by Rae Michelle Richards

Sabre Interactive and Bethesda released a brand new patch for Quake Champions yesterday that adds many features that the community have been asking for since the Open Beta last summer. Bots, further Champion adjustments and a fundamental redesign of how the tribolt weapon works. Despite all of the positive additions the one thing that’s been widely panned by the QC community is how skins are crafted and what “shards” can be spent on.  Positive: Bots Now Exist But Not Like You Think  Veterans of previous Quake games have always had offline bots as a fallback option for when a stable

IMPRESSIONS: Mario Tennis Aces

Posted on June 5, 2018 by Jason Nason

I have a sort of love-hate relationship with sports games, and the Mario sports titles are no exception. When I’m getting it and winning I love them. When I’m struggling and not winning, not so much. These impressions are based on the recent Mario Tennis Aces tournament demo. In true Mario sports style the games played within, this time obviously tennis, can be played both in true simulation or with the wacky flair that only a Mario sports title could offer. And while the game is pretty fun to play in simulation, it’s the Mario style gameplay is where the

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom | Review

Posted on May 30, 2018 by Meghan Kass

In 2011, developer Level- 5 along with Studio Ghibli created something beautiful and unique; it was the game Ni No Kuni. With all the charm of a Studio Ghibli film and a unique gameplay, it was no wonder why a sequel would happen. This time around, Level-5 is on its own without the help of Ghibli. This could have either meant a recipe for disaster or a way for Level-5 to prove itself a champion among RPG developers. Could Level-5 continue the charm of the first Ni No Kuni? Let’s take a closer look at Ni No Kuni II: Revenant
