We Happy Few preview

Posted on August 6, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

We happy few is a game that appeared from nowhere to immense hype. A video at the Microsoft press conference showed a grim dystopian world in 1960s England. E3’s trailer peaked the interest of all involved with its dark atmosphere and air of mystery.  Well mystery no more, the folks at Compulsion Games have given PC gamers a chance to play their game while its still in early access. There is no story in the game, but its possible that you could be spoiled by my discussions of game mechanics, the atmosphere, and the perceived back story so far. So,

DOOM’s First Paid DLC – Unto The Evil – Arrives

Posted on August 5, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Bethesda has released the first downloadable content for id Software’s DOOM on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The $15 USD DLC pack is called “Unto The Evil” and it adds 3 new maps to the multiplayer, one new weapon, a playable demon and new color sets for player armor. Unto The Evil won’t be entirely gated behind a paywall – thanks to Bethesda’s “PartyPlay” system the host of  a multiplayer loby is able to share their purchased maps with their friends in the party. I find the PartyPlay system an interesting addition but I can’t help wonder if

Rocket League Championship Series Finals this weekend on Twitch

Posted on August 5, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Rocket League is a staff favorite. It was one of the first things I wrote about. And, I still frequently write about it. So even though I myself am unable to play it at a high level I am always excited to watch it. And, there are none more exciting to watch then the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS). Typically the RLCS is one of those things that I would only follow when it updated, but was always sure to catch the finals. those finals are this weekend. Psyonix and Twitch are teaming and ask fans to tune in to

Insert Coins T’s teams up with Pokemon for a new line of shirts

Posted on August 5, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

If you don’t know about Insert Coin tshirts, where the heck have you been? They are one of the few companies out there that can make licensed game t-shirts, and look good doing it. They feature shirts from Assiasins Creed, Border Lands, Life is Strange, and many others. their shirts have muted designs and are not obviously gaming related, so you can wear them out to events with no fear of being singled out. You said Pokemon? Yup, with the success of PO:GO everyone wants in on the fad, so Insert Coin is  doing a collaboration which brings together Pokémon’s twenty-year heritage

Quake Champions Gameplay Trailer Debuts At QuakeCon

Posted on August 4, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

At QuakeCon Bethesda debuted the first gameplay trailer for 2017’s arena shooter Quake Champions alongside extended gameplay footage for attendees. In this debut footage, we get our first glimpse at the first person brutal mayhem that will await us next year. The trailer is heavy on rocket jumping, exploding enemies into giblets and the vertical level design that made Quake III such a popular game over 17 years ago. ID Software will be live-streaming multiplayer footage live on the Quakecon Twitch.tv channel tomorrow afternoon and there are a number of panels that will also be live-streamed for those of us who couldn’t be

AMD RX 480 Still In Short Supply One Month After Launch

Posted on August 4, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

AMD’s RX 480 launched over a month ago and it appears that many potential owners are having trouble getting their hands on either reference cards (the original launch version) or those made by third party manufacturers. What could be causing this lack of readily available supply? Multiple posters have taken to the R/AMD Reddit to posit their theories & vent their frustrations. One line of thinking, like TheMormonAthiest discussed on Reddit, suggests that maybe bitcoin miners are using the relatively low-cost AMD RX 480 for their mining rigs. Others have suggested that adoption of the RX 480 hasn’t been as

Posted on August 4, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Free to play MMORPG TERA could be heading to the Xbox One & PlayStation 4 if a new survey that has been emailed to players from developer Bluehole is accurate.  We don’t have images of the actual questions from the survey but we do have what appears to be an image from the initial survey invite email taken from a mobile phone. Here is a copy of the survey invite as posted on Reddit: A job posting published this past May by Bluehole Studios requested applicants for a Technical Lead to assist with porting the game to both consoles. Duties listed

Jailbreaking your iPhone can open up an entire world of possibilities beyond the sandboxing and app eco system that Apple traditionally offers. What awaits users after jailbreaking their idevice? Response: I4U Embraces Sexism Blaming PR Issues on Marketing Manager’s Maternity Leave

Posted on August 2, 2016 by Renee Gittins

This morning I came across an article on I4U’s site titled “The Sweet Reason of Niantic’s Lack of Communication About Pokemon GO Troubles”. Intrigued, I opened the article and read it. If I had been drinking coffee, I would have spit it out all over my desk. I4U’s Luigi Lugmayr placed Niantic’s Product Marketing Manager, Yennie Solheim Fuller, at the center of the blame for Niantic’s poor communication with their fanbase. Why is Niantic basically silent throughout the turmoil of viral growth that cause all kinds of issues? The person who is responsible for PR and Marketing at Niantic gave birth two

Sony’s PlayStation Network plays host to a sale on Bethesda’s recent & past catalogue of digital titles for both the PlayStation 4 and PS3.  This sale is in celebration of the upcoming QuakeCon convention, which will have events live-streamed this weekend from Texas. Recent titles like iD Software’s Doom reboot and older critically acclaimed games like The Evil Within (2014) for PS4 have been heavily discounted.
