Pokémon GO Plus launching September 16th

The Pokémon Company just announced that Pokémon GO Plus will be available in much of the world next week, on Sept. 16. Pokémon GO Plus is a companion device that connects to your phone over Bluetooth Smart (the Bluetooth low energy connection designed for health and fitness applications), allowing you to keep your phone in your pocket and go about your day-to-day activities while still being able to collect valuable resources and capture even the most elusive Pokémon.

WoW: Legion Matches Previous Launch Day Record With 3.3 Million Sales

Blizzard Entertainment announced that the recently released World of Warcraft: Legion expansion has matched the record of 3.3 million sales on launch day.  The developer / publisher also noted that these figures match the records set by previous expansions although they also related that the week one concurrency numbers for WoW: Legion matches the fervor of the game at its height with 2010’s World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.  With upcoming content patches, raids and story content WoW: Legion will continue to deliver content for quite some time. Possible Demo for Pokemon Sun and Moon

With all the excitement surrounding Pokemon recently, a new development is being added to that list. While Nintendo may not have mentioned it in the 9/1/16 Nintendo Direct, there is evidence showing that a demo for Pokemon Sun and Moon could possibly be on it’s way. Recently, it has been discovered that the Korean Ratings Board put out a rating for a demo version of Pokemon Sun and Moon. Broken Bootlegs is a series covering unlicensed games (also known as bootleg games) for mainly 8-bit and 16-bit consoles. This week’s edition covers possibly one of my favorite Famicom fighters: World Heroes 2. Pokemon Go Exceeds 500,000,000 Worldwide Downloads

Nintendo & Niantic have jointly announced that Pokemon GO has exceeded five hundred million downloads worldwide across the Android & iOS platforms since the game’s worldwide earlier this summer. Super Mario Dashing His Way Onto iPad/iPhone Feels Like A Natural Fit

Mario’s portly plumber will be making his way onto both iPad & iPhone with the release of Super Mario Run this December. Mario creator & development treasure Shigeru Miyamoto took the stage during Apple’s fall hardware event to unveil the title. PS4 Pro Announced at PlayStation Meeting

PS4 Pro announced, launches November 10th
Sony officially unveiled the much-rumored PS4 Pro at today’s PlayStation Meeting. The PS4 Neo improves performance and offers higher resolution graphics. A new, slimmer base model will accompany the PS4 Pro’s launch in November. Sony’s Mark Cerny demoed the console’s 4K graphics with games such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect Andromeda. Because the console features enhanced hardware, games will be able to employ higher resolutions and greater detail. In addition, HDR lighting is coming to all PS4 models via a software update. PS4 Pro will make its debut on November 10th for $399.

Nintendo’s Super Mario Run Brings Mario to iOS

At today’s Apple media event, Shigeru Miyamoto made a big splash when he appeared on-stage to announce Super Mario Run. Speaking alongside Apple CEO Tim Cook through translator Bill Trinen, Miyamoto detailed Nintendo’s first-ever iOS game. The game features traditional Mario platforming reworked for mobile devices. Super Mario Run launches first on iPhone and iPad this December. Nintendo and mobile partner DeNA have built Super Mario Run with one-handed play in mind. The game will offer two modes focused on jumping, as Mario runs through the Mushroom Kingdom automatically to the right. Nintendo will release a set of Mario-themed stickers for use

Sony Announces PS4 Slim, Launching September 15th

Sony officially unveiled the new PlayStation 4 model, a sleeker, slimmer model that will represent the new standard PlayStation 4 model going forward. At this morning’s PlayStation Meeting, Sony’s Andrew House announced that 40 million units of the original model had been sold, with this new model being targeted at those who had yet to “join the PlayStation ecosystem.” The new model launches in all markets on September 15th, following a leak of the product as reported by Eurogamer and others. The new PlayStation 4 carries an MSRP of $299.

Circle bringing Polara to 3DS eShop on September 15th

Circle Entertainment confirmed today that their localization of Polara will hit the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS in North America on September 15th. The game will be released in the European and Australian eShops on September 22nd. The game was released in Japan by Flyhigh Works in April of this year.
