Mortal Kombat Vita | Review

Posted on May 16, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Last year’s Mortal Kombat brought the series back from the brink of obscurity and almost self parody. In my opinion Nether Realm Studios not only gave the franchise a much needed shot in the arm by undoing several games worth of changes but made the whole thing more accessible to a whole new generation of fighting fans. Now a full year later can Nether Realm repeat their success with the first fully fledged Mortal Kombat title on a handheld?

THQ Puts Devil’s Third On Hold

Posted on May 15, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The next from boob loving, finger choking Japanese game developer Tomonobu Itagaki has been put on hold  by publisher THQ. Devil’s Third was originally revealed in the summer of 2010 and since then very little information has been released about the game. We do know that it involved a storyline fusing Asian, American and European themes with a sci-fi twist. THQ has stated that the game will not come out during the first quarter of 2013, meaning that we will have to wait until after April 2013 before we’ll see the game on store shelves.

The cover art for the highly anticipated Halo 4 was reveal by Microsoft yesterday in a random giveaway of sorts. Sending 32 pieces of the cover attached to emails to lucky fans, it took members of the Halo Waypoint Forums 67 posts before getting an end result no one was disappointed with.

Diablo III Downtime Trends on Twitter, Enrages Gamers

Posted on May 15, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Diablo III is surely one of the largest game launches we’ve seen in 2012. This could explain not only why the game seems to be everywhere online but why the complaints of players have been heard all around the internet. The game has not even been available for 24 hours (in North America) and already users have reported slow download speeds on the pre-game launcher, errors logging in and servers shutting down unexpectedly. Blizzard was forced to perform maintenance on Diablo III’s servers at 5:00 Eastern Time this evening and as of the time of writing the game is still

Capcom Decides To Step Back On DLC Approach

Posted on May 15, 2012 by Matthew Regier

Capcom, the most popular developer for people to hate when the words “downloadable content” are mentioned have decided to reevaluate their approach when it comes to releasing DLC for their new games. Particularly their on-disc DLC that have fans upset over. Notably the 14 characters that hackers detected on disc of Street Fighter X Tekken. Capcom’s senior vice president Christian Svensson has assured its audience that their complaints and questions have been heard said in a post on the Capcom Unity Blog.

Continuing on from Part One of the Sony Press Event where I was able to check out some upcoming games for the PS3 and Vita. Since the event a couple of these games have already been released, so there will be much more in-depth detail coming up pretty soon on one or more of these fantastic titles. Without further adieu, let’s talk about video games starting with:

Tomb Raider Delayed Until Q1 2013

Posted on May 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Were you looking forward to getting your hands on the reboot of Tomb Raider this year? You’re going to have to wait a few more months as Crystal Dynamics announced that Tomb Raider will miss its intended Fall 2012 release window. Instead the game will be arriving at some point in the first quarter of 2013. On the game’s official forums the developer stated that they want to release the best game “of their careers” and need additional time to put some finishing touches on the game.

Australian Branch of GAME Enters Administration

Posted on May 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The Australian branch of embattled U.K based retailer GAME has entered administration the company confirmed this afternoon. In the short term this means that the company will not be stocking somenew titles such as Blizzard’s upcoming Diablo III. Along with this announcement they also announced that they will be unable to refund customer’s fully paid or partially paid pre-orders. Entering administration doesn’t mean an immediate end to GAME’s operations downunder. It would be fair to compare the process to bankruptcy protection in the United States. Essentially administration gives GAME a window of time work out agreements with their various creditors.

Virtua Fighter V Final Showdown Debuts on June 5th

Posted on May 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Sega of America and Sega Europe announced today that the upcoming upgrade to 2007’s Virtua Fighter 5 will be coming to both the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network on June 5th. The game will be priced at $15.99 USD on PSN and 1200 Microsoft points on Xbox Live. This is certainly not a bad deal for a game that would have cost $59.99 just a few years ago. Final Showdown brings several enhancements first introduced in the Arcade version of Virtual Fighter 5. It also gives console players a chance to check out two brand new characters and a

Offspring Fling Released

Posted on May 14, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

I have long hoped that, by the time I successful reproduce, it would be socially acceptable to throw your children about like footballs. This would mostly be for serious reasons, like solving puzzles ( like the New York Times Crossword puzzle), but it would also be great fun for parent and child alike. Alas, our social mores about offspring flinging are unlikely to change in such a short period of time. Until society advances to accommodate my wishes, Offspring Fling, an aptly titled indie game just released on Steam on Mother’s Day, will have to scratch that itch. You can

Arma 2: Combined Operations Contest Winners Announced

Posted on May 14, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

We brought in a member of Bohemia Interactive to pick the winners from Friday’s competition. Here is what operative “Korneel” had to say: I loved the effort and the answers. There were 4 which really caught my eye. Therefore, as a very special exception, I am giving you two extra A2:CO codes to distribute. My picks are: – Athanasios (Literally the only possible flaw in his plan is the fact that Jarmen Kell, due to his age, might not be flexible enough to imitate the look of a human stomach or a padded human sausage ;-)) – Fearpoint (The scarce-vodka-supply-rumour

Tribes: Ascend | Review

Posted on May 14, 2012 by Andrew Minott

It’s like a classic joust in the days of knights and kings. You skim across the valley floor at 120 kph. High above you, an airborne ally gets hit in the chest by a microscopic sun, sending bits of his armor showering down, and bits of him… best not think about it. Ahead, a flash of light. You see the reflection half a second before the explosive blue disk hums close enough to your head for you to write your name on it. That Blood Eagle bastard is headed straight for you, claiming this crack of earth as his own.
