Razer Announces Two New Budget Chroma Keyboards

Posted on October 27, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Hardware manufacturer Razer has announced two brand new budget keyboards that support the company’s propriety Chroma RGB light-up technology at a lower price point than their premium Razer Blackwidow Chroma or Razer Ornata Chroma lines.  First up is the Razer Cynosa Chroma keyboard which offers access to the individual key light-up technology, spill-resistant design, and Razer Synapsis compatibility that its pricier siblings offer. The Cynosa’s more feature rich sibling is the Razer Cynosa Chroma Pro keyboard which offers the same features in addition to the “underglow” technology which allows the user to customize a RGB glow that surrounds the keyboard with a programmable color that can match your individual keys. “Underglow” does not only make the border of your keyboard a single color, but Razer’s software allows you to customize the color, density and breathability of 24 different “zones”.  The Razer Cynosa Chroma keyboard has

EVE Online’s Lifeblood Expansion Is Now Live

Posted on October 25, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Just a small reminder that the latest expansion to CCP Games’ Eve Online, Lifeblood was released yesterday. With this latest expansion Capsuleers living in high-security space receive two brand new forms of PVE content with the release of Resource Wars and Forward Operating Bases. Alongside the release of these new modes, CCP has also made a balance pass to the post of the ships Free To Play Alpha Clones can fly, with most ships except the Vexor receiving a damage buff. Previously I covered all of the big announcements made at the EVE VEGAS convention a few weeks ago. The primary

A Eulogy To The Future That Kinect Promised But Never Delivered

Posted on October 25, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Kinect version 1.0 arrived hot off the heels of the motion control craze sparked by the Nintendo Wii with the marketing tagline “You Are The Controller”. Promising players a mixture of easy to understand motion based controls using their own bodies and a dash of science fiction, with almost Minority Report-like gesture control – it seemed like Microsoft had stumbled upon an easily understandable control scheme for those with the mobility to enjoy it. As Kinect is thrown into the technology wastebasket of products past their prime, where did things go wrong? This is a Eulogy for the future that Kinect promised but never delivered upon.  A Less Than Spectacular Launch Line-Up

Report: Players Being Banned From Destiny 2 On PC For Running Common Apps Like MSI Afterburner, Discord and OBS

Posted on October 25, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

User reports from launch day suggest that PC players of Bungie’s Destiny 2 may find themselves with a permanent ban if they are using common PC benchmarking tools like FRAPS and MSI AfterBurner or chat programs like Discord with the overlay functionality enabled.  Over on /r/DestinyTheGame several users have reported that their accounts or friends accounts have been banned without explanation for running common PC programs in the background while playing Destiny 2.   Here is a short (and at all definitive) list of programs that MAY cause interference with Destiny 2. This list is based upon user reports and has not been confirmed by the game’s

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Coming to Mobile Devices in Late November

Posted on October 24, 2017 by Jason Nason

One of Nintendo’s most enduring franchises, Animal Crossing is coming to mobile devices for the first time in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The new smart device game allows players to decorate and expand their camper home, and learn more about the community they are part of. In the first Animal Crossing game for mobile devices, you can interact with animal friends, craft furniture items and gather resources while managing a campsite. It’s a slight departure from the core Animal Crossing gameplay but it looks like another laid back and enjoyable experience. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp launches on iOS- and Android-compatible mobile devices in late November. “As

Pokemon Go Has Been Dropping Less Items For Some Players For A While Now

Posted on October 24, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Walking through downtown Calgary tonight I decided to login to Pokemon Go for the first time in several months and catch some spooky monsters from the Halloween event. My usual walking route contains approximately 20 or so PokeStops including a few Gyms, so when walking it forward & back, filling my item bag is usually par for the course. Except for tonight I noticed something odd – every Stop/Gym was only giving me two items. What the hell…  After some sleuthing (e.g. Using Google) it turns out the Niantic has been messing with the drop rates of both PokeStops & Gyms for at least the past two weeks. Back on October 11th Reddit user, vtmcouver reported that they had begun

Reminder: Be Prepared For Tomorrow’s Launch By Pre-Loading Destiny 2 On PC

Posted on October 24, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

As of the writing of this post, there’s TECHNICALLY only one hour left of October 23rd in the MDT time zone, but hey it’s technically accurate.  If you’ve pre-purchased Destiny 2 on PC and want to make sure your game is available for when servers go live at 10 am PDT tomorrow, here is your final reminder to pre-load the game in time for launch. Sitting at staggering 60+ GBs the final install size of Destiny 2 is going to eat up a good chunk of your hard drive. So far pre-loading seems to be working fine on our end. I finished the 30+ GB download in

Animal Crossing Direct coming Tuesday

Posted on October 23, 2017 by Jason Nason

Nintendo announced this morning that there will be a special Nintendo Direct planned for tomorrow. The Direct will be focused solely on the Animal Crossing mobile app. A mobile app based in the Nintendo franchise was announced long ago with no details aside from being dated for 2017. The presentation tomorrow should give us all the information we need including release date, pricing, as well as just what the app will be about. Will this be a mobile version of the popular game? Will it connect somehow to the 3DS title or allow for some functionality between the two titles?

Nostalgia Fueled ‘New 3DSXL SNES Edition’ Confirmed For North America

Posted on October 23, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Not simply content with mining the nostalgia from our collective youth with the recently released SNES Classic Mini, Nintendo of America has confirmed that the previously Europe exclusive ‘New 3DSXL: SNES Edition’ will be coming to our shores on November 27th.  Setting the North American version apart from its colorful European counterpart is, of course, the muted color scheme of light & dark purples featured on the face buttons. Combining the familiar North American SNES controller ABXY button colors with the soft grey of the console’s housing – this limited edition New 3DSXL mimics Nintendo’s 16-bit console faithfully.   No word yet on if you leave your New 3DS XL SNES

Nintendo Switch OS V4.0 Adds Video Capture For Select Titles

Posted on October 19, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

The latest firmware update for Nintendo Switch is here, bringing our home menus to version 4.0 but also adding a feature that has been missing since launch: the ability to capture video clips. Switch now supports 30-second video clip capture via the capture button on the right JoyCon for select titles, unfortunately not all games are supported right now.   Here is Nintendo’s official description of the new video capture feature:  “To capture video in compatible games, hold down the capture button during gameplay. This will create a video clip of the last 30 seconds. You can then view the saved videos in your album, trim the

88 Heroes: 98 Heroes Edition | Review

Posted on October 19, 2017 by Meghan Kass

On August 8th, 1988 at 8:08 am I was but an infant when one of the most terrible acts of evil was attempted. Doctor Evil H8 almost had destroyed the world unless he was delivered his demand of .$88 octillion with a deadline of only 88 minutes! In order to save mankind from destruction by nuclear warhead, we needed the help of the brave, the bold, and the silly 88 heroes! This is the set up for developer, Bitmap Bureau’s, game “88 Heroes”. Now this game, published by Rising Star Games has come to the Nintendo Switch with some interesting
