Report: Onlive Purchased By Third Party, 50% of Staff Gone

Posted on August 17, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

One of the pioneers of instantly streaming games, OnLive has been purchased by an unknown third party if reports from Joystiq are correct.  50% of the service’s staff were apparently let go as of 10AM this morning and said employees were seen leaving the company’s headquarters carrying moving boxes full of various supplies & possessions. So far Onlive has not commented on these reports thus far. The closest thing we’ve got to an official acknowledgement is the fact that Onlive does not comment on rumors and speculation and that games now available on the service will continue to be available

Zombies Are Invading Counter-Strike: Global Offensive!

Posted on August 17, 2012 by Seung Lee

Valve has teamed up with a mod team over at PlagueFest, a community site that works on mods for games like Counter-Strike: Source and ArmA II, to create a zombie mod for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This content will be available on only the PC version of the game (99% sure here), and you won’t have to wait to test it out, because it’ll release on the same day as Global Offensive. This certainly isn’t the first time that we’ve seen zombies in a first-person shooter. Treyarch’s recent Call of Duty games and ArmA II are the most popular  in the

Many potential vita owners have been waiting for a price drop before snapping up Sony’s latest handheld and unfortunately it could be 2013 at the earliest before Sony relents on it’s $249.99 price point. Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida said to EuroGamer, in an interview with GamesCom “At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting,”. The hardware maker reported that it had sold 1.8 million PS Vita and PSP

The port is being done in house at developers MercurySteam, and dark lords willing, could go a long way in fixing the technical issues and slowdown present in the first Lords of Shadows. Avengers: Battle For Earth GamesCon 2012 Trailer

Posted on August 15, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Avengers: Battle For Earth has me sitting on the proverbial fence. One one side, the comic nerd in me, wants this game so badly because a Marvel Comics game has never been able to be played this way. There-in lies the other side of the fence. The Kinect Only has always been a hit or miss when it comes to Kinect games. I won’t this game completely as I have not seen the first bit of gameplay for it. But normally the Kinect games are really good (such asKinect Sports)or just awful. There’s normally an absence of middle ground. With that

Celebrate The Olympics With NBA 2K13

Posted on August 15, 2012 by Seung Lee

It’s the 20th anniversary of the USA’s “Dream Team” for the Basketball event at the Olympics, and 2K Games is celebrating by including the 1992 and 2012 teams in NBA 2K13. Jay-Z, the executive producer behind 2K13, states that he made the decision to have these two crews in the game so that people could settle “one of the greatest sports debates of our time.” I’ve never heard people hype up the 2012 team, and probably for good reason. You just can’t compete against people like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Scottie Pippen. Although, Pippen appears to be

With the announcement of the new game, Skylanders Giants, we all knew that both there would be even more new characters to come. Today, Toys For Bob and Activision have announced a new character that will join the fray: Chill. So just who

The Next Command & Conquer Game Will Be Free To Play

Posted on August 15, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The battle over ore and tiberium has raged on our computer screens for the past 17 years almost unabated. Even with the closure of original developer Westwood Studios in 2003 publisher Electronic Arts was able to bring the series back in true form with Command & Conquer 3 just four short years later. Can they re-invent the franchise once again after failing to resurrect the Generals sub-series? The shift from a “premium experience” (ie. full $60 disc based games) to an all digital, free to play platform has slowly engulfed some of the PCs biggest multiplayer titles . Following the
