Huge Splatoon 2 Update Splashes On To Nintendo Switch Tomorrow

Posted on November 22, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Nintendo is going to unleash possibly the largest post-release update to Splatoon 2 tomorrow that brings with it new stages, an increased level cap, holiday themed weapons and so much more.  Like with previous content drops the four brand new stages won’t be immediately available once tomorrow’s patch goes live. Instead they’ll be drip fed to players over the course of several weeks to give Squid Kids something to look forward too through the early winter. Splatoon 2’s first brand new stage is the shopping mart styled MakoMart which will go live on Black Friday, November 24th. Walleye Warehouse and Arowana Mall will make a return from the original

War Pike Added To Online Monster Slaying Title Dauntless

Posted on November 22, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Dauntless is an early access online monster slaying, title not unlike Capcom’s own Monster Hunter, series that offers players the chance to take down larger than life enemies using a variety of different weapons.   The War Pike is a brand-new weapon type coming to the game with this December’s Sharpen Your Skills update. As a polearm the War Pike brings a bit of a difference in terms of gameplay mechanics for seasoned hunters out there who might be sued to the other four weapon classes. Instead of memorizing specific sets of inputs to maximize damage the War Pike allows players to chain basic and heavy attacks together for seamless interwoven combat. As slayers successfully land successive hits their special meter will fill, allowing them to pull

Gear.Club Unlimited | Review In Progress

Posted on November 21, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Version Reviewed: Nintendo Switch. Published By Microids and Developed By Eden Games In the eight months since release, the Nintendo Switch has seen a fair share of racing titles released for it. Yet despite the multiple futuristic zero-g racers, Nintendo’s own mascot kart racer and at least one top-down classic arcade style indie, one racing genre have gone completely unrepresented – the realistic racing sim featuring real-world cars. Enter Gear.Club Unlimited, an enhanced port of a mobile free-to-play title featuring over 30 licensed vehicles from top manufacturers and 400-course variations (!!). Rev up your engines for my review-in-progress of this surprisingly fun realistic ride.  The goal in Gear.Club Unlimited is to win race circuits

H1Z1 Receives Major Update That Includes New Map and Daily Challenges

Posted on November 20, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Daybreak Studios’ long running battle royal title H1Z1 (formally H1Z1: Just Survive) received a major update late last week that adds a brand-new combat focused map called Combat Zone, new daily challenges and a whole lot of miscellaneous bug fixes / quality of life improvements that may help players climb the ranks and be the last one standing.  Combat Zone differs from the regular wide open forest area map in a number of ways: first and foremost there is no parachuting into position. Instead all players start already on the ground with a full loadout of equipment, so there’s no more rushing to find a shotgun, pistol or rusty work.. You know whatever happens to be lying around.

Skyrim Roars Onto The Nintendo Switch Today

Posted on November 17, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Bethesda has released the long-awaited Nintendo Switch version of 2011’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It has been five years since the original release of Skyrim on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but the Nintendo Switch version does see several improvements from last year’s Skyrim: Special Edition. This means that the Switch version of Skyrim runs on a modified version of the 64-bit Fallout 4 engine and can make use of the system’s full 4GB of ram. As well Skyrim for Switch also includes the Dawnguard, Dragon Born and Hearth Fire DLC add-ons right on the cartridge.  A few Nintendo specific treats are also available that might interest those who are returning

Super Mario Odyssey | Review

Posted on November 16, 2017 by Meghan Kass

Mario has been a staple of the gaming industry since the very early arcade days when he was just a humble sprite named Jump Man who wanted nothing more than to save a poor woman he loved named Pauline from a beast, barrel throwing ape named Donkey Kong. Since those early days, things have changed immensely for our humble protagonist and he has since been on many adventures through many lands and beyond even to the galaxy. After Super Mario Galaxy however, a question entered the minds of me and my friends and that question was “Where could Mario possibly

DOOM’s Nintendo Switch Port Will Have You Believing In The Dark Arts

Posted on November 16, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Over the past week I’ve been playing 2016’s DOOM on the Nintendo Switch and this game… just wow, what black magic did Bethesda use to make a game as visually striking and visceral work on Nintendo’s hybrid tablet?  Players new to this iteration of the classic FPS franchise will find themselves in the boots of the Doom Slayer, an unnamed marine who loves nothing more than ripping the limbs off of demons and splattering their guts across the floor. DOOM exists for two reasons: 1) to allow players to graphically murder countless demons in as comically over the top fashion as possible and 2) to provide the player

Fire Emblem Warriors | Review

Posted on November 15, 2017 by Meghan Kass

In 2014,  Hyrule Warriors was released by Koei Tecmo, Ninja Theory and Omega Force. These developers had a novel idea, to combine Dynasty Warriors and The Legend of Zelda. It was a beautiful game that got better than average critical reception and was a unique use of both the combat style of Dynasty Warriors and the characters and world of Legend of Zelda. It is now 2017 and it has brought with it a new entry into this fusion of Nintendo franchises and Dynasty warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors. While Ninja Theory and Omega Force stayed on the development team for

Posted on November 14, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Psyonix’s 2015 hit Rocket League has now blasted its way on to the Nintendo Switch in North America and is available digitally through the Nintendo e-shop. This release marks the first time that players can bring the excitement of rocket-powered soccer with cars anywhere with handheld mode.  This port of Rocket League was handled by the developers at Panic Button, who also provided the excellent port of 2016’s Doom for Bethesda (we’ll be covering that later in the week), so you know that Rocket League is in good hands. Players on the Switch can expect all of the additional updates, arenas, and cosmetics that Psyonix has released
