Big World Map Returns in New Super Mario Bros. U

Posted on November 8, 2012 by Les Major

One of my biggest disappointments with the Super Mario Bros. series has been the drifting away from Mario 3 and Mario World overworld maps. I know, it’s all the same content but something just feels cooler about those expansive and wandering paths. Now they’re back! This means I’ll definitely be moving in with my friends who buy a Wii U later this month and gather around it’s warming glow in late November. This news is a complete thrill to me. I loved the content of other Mario games, but disliked the straight line of levels. After all, many classic Nintendo

Borderlands 2 “Graveyard” Issue Patched

Posted on November 7, 2012 by Joshua Rust

The Xb0x 360 community can release a big sigh if relief as Gearbox has now fixed the “graveyard” issue that has been plaguing users here recently. Reported only a few weeks ago, the “graveyard” virus affected players saves – most people losing all of their data. So it is now safe to go online and play public matches once again! Hopefully none of you were affected by this virus. If you were, I hope that doesn’t deter you from starting it up again. If you haven’t had the chance to try out Borderlands 2, we highly recommend you do so!

Posted on November 6, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

Troubling times are still apparent at THQ, despite the current releases of Darksiders 2 and the more recent WWE ‘13. (Check out our review of WWE ‘13). In a recent report coming from THQ regarding their Fiscal 2nd Quarter Results, the company announced a delay on three of their more anticipated titles: South Park and the Stick of Truth, Metro: Last Light, and Company of Heroes 2.

This Is The Most Expensive Atari 2600 Game Ever

Posted on November 6, 2012 by Seung Lee

So yesterday, the world’s only complete, in-box copy of Air Raid on the Atari 2600 was bought off of an auction. Guess how much it sold for? You might be surprised to know that Air Raid went for a cool $33,433 ($33,433.30 if you want the actual amount). There actually was another copy of Air Raid, back in 2010, and it sold for $31,600. The copy sold this year contained the manual, which apparently made it worth over an extra thousand dollars.

Worms: Revolution | Review

Posted on November 5, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

If you were to think about video game franchises that have had a constant stream of releases in spite of economical and cultural shifts in the last few years, you would immediately point fingers at the more obvious Mario, Legend of Zelda and even Call of Duty as of recent. However, no one would ever mention Team 17’s algebraic trajectile strategy franchise, or better known as the Worms series; a franchise with more than a dozen titles to its name on everything from the Amiga to the Xbox 360. Truthfully, the only reason that people often forget about Worms is

Double Dragon Neon | Review

Posted on November 5, 2012 by Jason Fayta

Version tested:  PlayStation 3 Double Dragon has one of my favorite openings in games:  A babe stands alone in a street and a gang approaches her; a dude steps forward from the gang and he punches the babe straight in the gut. He then hoists her over his shoulder, turns, and walks off with the gang. The garage door of the residence in the background opens, and 1P emerges. He has a Camero by his side, but ignores it. He’s taking this to the streets. Everyone on the street. You’re Billy Lee, and some dudes just took your girl, and

New Dead Island: Riptide Info!

Posted on November 5, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Just got an email a bit ago from our friends at Deep Silver, chock full of new information about Dead Island: Riptide.  First of all, that handsome fellow in the featured image at the top there?  That’s John Morgan.  He’s your fifth playable character, and he ain’t one of those “play this one level designed for this character” additions to the DI franchise.  No, he’s one with whom you can play the whole campaign.  A hand-to-hand combat expert who is a Marines drop-out and has been making a living as a cook on a ship, he joins the other four

Extra Credits Indie Fund Sponsors Its First Game

Posted on November 4, 2012 by Jason Fayta

The Extra Credits Indie Fund has financed the development of its first game: Mental Drift. Thought becomes reality in this puzzle platformerwhere words from the player character’s inner monologue become tools to change the world around him. The game’s first trailer came out today to celebrate its official unveiling with the Extra Credits Indie Fund. Mental Drift debuted under the Extra Credits banner in August’s Penny Arcade Expo. Attendees were invited to play the demo and share their feedback on the game’s early development. “We want this to be the community’s project,” said James Portnow, Producer of Extra Credits. “A lot of

WWE’13 | Review

Posted on November 4, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

Woo Woo Woo You Know It, it’s time for the annual WWE release with WWE’13, developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ. The game was released on October 30th for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii consoles. The game is the second of the WWE series of games but the fifteenth overall in the combined series. This review is based on my experiences with the Xbox 360 version of the game. The question now is should you go smell what WWE’13 is cooking? Or avoid it like the rebranding of ECW in 2008. Find out below.

Grand Theft Auto V is coming, make no mistake of that. The exact release date is unknown but it is narrowed down to a Spring 2013 launch. I expect the information flood gates to open up very soon.
