With the 2013 Game Developers Conference (GDC) right around the corner, it seems that Bungie may finally be ready to reveal project “Destiny” to some capacity. Hosting their own presentation dubbed “Brave New World”, Bungie writer/design director Joe Staten and art director Christopher Barrett will finally offer “a glimpse of the brave new world that has been built”. Pandora’s Tower Confirmed For North American Release

Posted on January 16, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Remember Operation Rainfall? Well they’ve finally got their wish; Pandora’s Tower has been confirmed for a North American release thanks to the folks at XSeed. No solid release date on the game just yet but aside from confirmation Xseed did provide Kotaku with an excerpt describing the game, which I’ve included below. Operation Rainfall was a fan run campaign to bring three Japanese RPGs for the Nintendo Wii to North America. Well, the years of waiting have paid off, because since their kick off a few years ago we’ve seen the release of The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles. In

Army Of Two: Devil’s Cartel Trailer

Posted on January 16, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

When the first game came out, I was really impressed with what EA Montreal did with the series. Their second entry added a morality feature which made you wonder how good or evil your thoughts were playing with Salem and Rios. Army of Two: Devil’s Cartel however is being co-developed by EA Montreal and Visceral Games of Dead Space fame. EA released today a new trailer for the game, as we had no updates on the game in a while.

The 2012 Top Five

Posted on January 15, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

Editor’s note: Staff at Broken Joysticks will be sharing their top five games, or game related stories, from 2012 throughout the week. We’re continuing the feature with the top five from our editor, kashhoward. For me, 2012 was a year with many games I anticipated releasing to great success, and some falling short due to various choices. Since I’m always playing fighters, it’s less common for me to purchase the newest games. While I had to omit some games that I never got to play from my list, here are my top five games of 2012.

PS4 & Xbox 720 To Be Revealed This March?

Posted on January 15, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

We’ve been hearing about the next generation of consoles for years now, from leaked development kits to vague statements from executives we’ve got everything but an official confirmation. This may all change according to Game Informer, whose source claims that the next machines from Microsoft and Sony may be officially announced as early as this coming March. Adding even more fuel to the fire is that the announcement events will be “apple like”, meaning invites will be sent out to the tech press just a week or so before the big day

New Super Mario Bros. U | Review

Posted on January 15, 2013 by Les Major

There’s something about New Super Mario Bros. U that feels like a step onto new ground. First off, the map screen is a welcome change featuring winding pathways similar to Super Mario World. I know it’s just a simple cosmetic change, but with such little story in the side-scrolling games compared to the likes of Super Mario Galaxy, the world map gives more of an adventuring feel. I realize this is an odd point to start with, but I’m a huge fan of this and it’s a feature I’ve missed. New Super Mario Bros. Wii did a good job bringing it back,

18th Gate | Review

Posted on January 15, 2013 by Jason Nason

What’s the first thing you do when you buy any new game? You look at the instruction manual from cover to cover before even turning on the game? Weird! Me too! Okay, not really. The reality is that most of us don’t even crack the cover of the instructions unless we want to look at the pictures or if the game has a complicated and sometimes confusing controls *Ahem, sports games.* Let’s face it. Most games are either really intuitive or guide you through the basic steps to playing the game without spoiling anything. Most games. Not this one.

The 2012 Top Five

Posted on January 13, 2013 by Jason Fayta

Editor’s note: Staff at Broken Joysticks will be sharing their top five games, or game related stories, from 2012 throughout the week. We’re starting the feature with the top five from our contributing reviewer, Jason Fayta. It’s hard to believe 2012 is over, and it’s equally hard to believe we’re already two weeks into 2013. Overall, I found 2012 to be a solid year for releases, but I can’t say there was a title I was completely enamored with, which lead to some difficulty in rounding out my top five releases from the year. However, as I went through my playing
