Sim City To Be Released On Mac Later This Month

Electronic Arts is preparing to release the promised Mac OSX port of Sim City later this month, according to a press release issued earlier in the day. Multiplayer is front & center in the new Sim City and it is no surprise that the game will be cross platform, enabling established PC players interact with Mac players/ Sim City will be available in both digital and physical (boxed) flavors on August 29th. Here’s hoping that the Mac version isn’t plagued as some of the same connectivity issues as the PC version. Last I heard, things have been running rather smoothly.

Club Nintendo Rewards – August 2013

The month of August has brought four new downloadable game rewards for Club Nintendo members, including Mario Golf. The game is one of two that are available for the Nintendo 3DS, the other is Brain Age Express: Sudoku!! The two games for the Nintendo Wii this month are a couple of NES Virtual console titles in NES Play Action Football and Wario’s Woods. All four titles are available until September 1st.

Kickstarter Launches Canadian Events

Are you Canadian and have a project that needs funding? What is arguably the most recognizable crowd funding platform, KickStarter, will be launching north of the border on September 9th.  To celebrate the company will be holding four events on the eastern side of the country. Things kick off with two events in Toronto, Kickstarter Film School on August 8th & 9th. Festivities in Montreal are a little less specialized with a one day information session running on the 12th and a meet & greet on the 13th. Mii Plaza Games Earn $4 Million

A few weeks ago Nintendo updated the Mii Plaza in North America and introduced four new mini-games. The games have turned out to be a very popular for Nintendo. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told Japanese website Tokyo Keizai Online that in the month since the games’ release the four StreetPass Mii Plaza games had been purchased by over 200,000 Nintendo 3DS owners, generating approximately $4 million in profit. The games cost $5 each to download, but you can download all the games together for a discounted price of $14.99.

Donkey Kong Coming to Virtual Console Again

Donkey Kong, the classic Nintendo arcade hit from way back in the NES days is making its way back to Nintendo … again. The original NES version of Donkey Kong will be making its way onto the 3DS Virtual Console on August 15th. An iteration of the game was released previously on the 3DS as a special promotion between October 1st, 2012 and January 6, 2013 for those who purchased select games before the end date. Nintendo Wii U Basic Sale This Weekend

Wal-Mart in Canada is putting the Nintendo Wii U Basic Bundle on sale this weekend. From August 2nd – August 9th (while quantities last) the console will be on sale for $100 off! The system regularly retails for $299.00 in Canada at Wal-Mart but beginning tomorrow you can score the Wii U for $199. I checked into my local Wal-Mart and the store had about a half dozen in stock, though they were all sold out of the deluxe bundle. The black bundle isn’t a part of this sale.

Square Enix Confirms Next Gen Tomb Raider

Square Enix confirmed that the company is working on a sequel to the recently released Tomb Raider reboot with the game slated to hit next-gen consoles. Phil Rogers, CEO of Square Enix for the Americas and Europe, made the confirmation in a blog post earlier today. In addition to the development of already confirmed next gen titles Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III and Thief, Lara Croft will be back. Darrell Gallagher, Head of Product Development and Studios, expanded on the blog in a statement.

Wii U Sales Soft While 3DS Sales Strong

Nintendo released their global sales yesterday. The good news is that net and ordinary income is in the green at ¥8.62 billion ($88.1 million). Also 3DS sales were strong last quarter. The bad news is that Wii U sales were on the opposite end if the sales spectrum. The 3DS was the best selling hardware in the United States for the past two months and the system continues to show strong performance across the world. Nintendo Purchases Through PC Coming This Year

Nintendo is planning to let users have more access to their Nintendo Network accounts … from somewhere other than their Nintendo device. By the end of this year, Nintendo will be adding a new system that allows players to manage their Nintendo Network accounts through smartphones and PC. Nintendo released their sales numbers for last quarter for the Wii U and 3DS which showed that Nintendo’s latest home console is struggling while their latest handheld continues to soar. Shin Megami Tensei IV was released during this week and quickly took the number two spot on in the USA sales rankings. August 1st Nintendo Download

Kirby’s Dream Land 2 hits the 3DS Virtual Console this week as well as three new eShop games. My Farm 3D, Family Kart 3D and Bike Rider DX are all new releases. On the Wii U front Pikmin 3 will be released in retail and digital download versions on Sunday as does Disney’s Planes, which will be available on August 6th. The 3DS version will also be available next Tuesday. Finally Harvest Moon is now available on the Wii U Virtual console and Ubisoft’s Cloudberry Kingdom is available in the Wii U eShop. Nintendo Unveils Black 3DS XL

Nintendo announced today the latest colour for the Nintendo 3DS XL will hit stores next week and the newest colour will be basic black. On August 11th, Nintendo is releasing a black version of the Nintendo 3DS XL hand-held system, joining the currently available range of colors: blue, red and pink. The system will launch on the same day as the latest Nintendo 3DS game: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Fans that pick up a new black system or already own a Nintendo 3DS can also play the exciting new entry in the much-loved Mario & Luigi role-playing series.

Flipnote Studio 3D Delayed in Europe

Nintendo of Europe announced earlier today that Flipnote Studio 3D for the 3DS, follow up to the original DSiWare title, has been delayed.
