CHARTED: Nintendo (Week ending Aug 4th)

The number one game in the world this week is another 3DS game and it’s another Japanese debut. Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life from Namco Bandai Games debuted in Japan and sold fore than 114,000 copies in the first week. Animal Crossing is also doing well for Nintendo with the game still at #3 in North America after eight weeks. The game has sold more than 4.5 million copies worldwide so far. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies is #2 in Japan in its second week and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is #3 in its third week.

August 15th Nintendo Download

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist arrives on the Nintendo Wii U next Tuesday and will be available for download in the eShop the same day. Also available for the Wii U is a new Virtual Console entry in Galaga. Plus two games have been put on sale including Trine 2: Director’s Cut. Brand New Kingdom Hearts HD ‘ Final Mix’ Trailer

Microsoft Changes Course On Kinect For Xbox One

You need not worry about the mandatory Kinect policy Microsoft announced earlier in the year. It was only a little while after E3 that Microsoft reversed their DRM policies for the Xbox One and now the company has changed tone once again, stating the users will be able to turn off the motion sensor in the system’s settings menu, or unplug it all together. No Subscriptions Needed To Record Game Videos On PS4

Every PlayStation 4 owner will be able to share up to 15 minutes of video using the systems share function. Online multiplayer will now be require PlayStation Plus on PlayStation 4 but some of the great community building functions like uploading videos to Twitch and YouTube will be free. Microsoft’s Xbox One also has a video-sharing feature but it will be locked away behind the Xbox Live Gold pay-wall, including other features that may be free on the PS4 like NetFlix and Crackle. Xbox Live Family Plan No More As of Aug 27th

We’ve known for a while now that the Xbox Live Family Plan was going to be no more sometime starting this summer and now subscribers have received notice that the axe will fall on their plan on August 27th. Xbox Live Family Plan allowed up to four accounts (one parent, three child) to share an Xbox Live subscription for one year for $99. Pokemon X & Y Features New Mega Evolutions For Some Pokemon

A few weeks ago pokemon fans the world over were wondering just what the newly announced alternate form of Mewtwo was all about. If a recently posted translation of a Japanese gaming magazine is correct than Pokemon X & Y will feature a brand new type of evolutions. The newest form of evolution is known as “mega evolutions” and will affect several pokemon including Blazaken, Absol, Mewtwo and others. Reportedly this is achieved using a “mega stone”, which may work similar to the elemental stones introduced in Pokemon Blue and Red. Each mega-pokemon also has an attribute associated with them:
