Pokémon Bank Launches On Dec 25th In Japan

Posted on September 4, 2013 by Les Major

Arriving on December 25th in Japan for an aproximately $5 USD annual fee, gamers will be able to store their Pokémon Black and White (1 and 2 it seems) as well as X and Y to a cloud based service. This is useful for fans who want to use their Black and White Pokémon to X and Y via a feature called “Poké Transporter.” The Pokémon Bank will allow gamers to store their collection of Pokémon to a cloud with 100 boxes, which totals up to 3000 Pokémon in total. Potentially this will mean you’ll be able to continue moving

Club Nintendo Rewards – September 2013

Posted on September 3, 2013 by Jason Nason

The month of September has brought four new downloadable game rewards for Club Nintendo members, including Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again!. The game is one of two that are available for the Nintendo 3DS, the other is Art Academy: First Semester!! The two games for the Nintendo Wii this month are a couple of Virtual console titles in Pilotwings and Zoda’s Revenge: StarTropics II. All four titles are available until October 6th. Also a rather unusual game has popped up which just costs 80 coins and is only available from Club Nintendo. That game is a WiiWare title

Magicians And Looters Is An Xbox Indie Gem

Posted on September 3, 2013 by Les Major

I’m usually always poking around at various indie games on the Xbox Live Marketplace. While I really should write up about a lot more of my favourites, there’s definitely one recent addition that Metroidvania fans should check out. The demo takes place after the games intro which involves the three main characters, two siblings and a fellow classmate from a magic class. In the demo, you’re telewarped into a forest setting which quickly reminded me of the classic game Jill Of The Jungle, at least from what I remember of it. Even bringing in memories of exploring Shadow Complex, instead

Mighty No. 09 Could Come to 3DS via Renegade Kid

Posted on September 2, 2013 by Jason Nason

Earlier today Jools Watsham, the co-founder & director at Renegade Kid, tweeted that he would personally like to help create a Nintendo 3DS version of Mighty No. 09. Watsham reached out to the official Mighty No.9 Twitter account to say that he would like to lend a hand. The account replied that they would pass along the proposal to the team. As reported earlier, Mighty No.9 is a Kickstarter funded game project in a classic Japanese side-scrolling action. The prioject comes from by Keiji Inafune and an all-star team of veteran Mega Man developers. The project reached its fundraising goal

Nice! Animal Crossing Plushies

Posted on September 2, 2013 by Jason Nason

If you’re a diehard Animal Crossing fan you likely already know that there are officially licensed plush toys based on Animal Crossing: New Leaf. If you’re new to the series or are less of a hardcore player you may not. There are seven of the plush toys including Reese, K.K. Slider, Tom Nook, Kicks, Porter, Mr. Resetti and Isabelle. The plushies make a great collectible (even if you can’t scan them into your game) and are great if you have a young one who is playing the game.

Megaman-Like Mighty No. 9 Almost Kickstarted Already

Posted on September 2, 2013 by Les Major

The comparison to Mega Man is more than understandable in Mighty No. 9‘s Kickstarter campaign, which has almost reached it’s $900,000 goal. With a team of Mega Man alumni bringing the project to life with Keiji Inafune as the project lead, this looks like the next big thing inspired by the series. Already looking beautiful just from the concept art, Mighty No. 9 stars Beck as the ninth in a line of robots, and the only one who hasn’t gone berzerk from a computer virus affecting mechanized creatures around the world.

Disney Infinity was a big seller in its first week at retail. The top selling platform was the Xbox 360 followed by the Nintendo Wii with 79,472 copies sold on Nintendo’s platform. Between the three versions sold on Nintendo platforms (Wii, Wii U & 3DS) the game sold 128,484 making it a solid first week for Disney’s venture into Skylanders territory. Across the Pacific another Disney game is still seeing success with the 3DS game Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life from Namco Bandai sitting in the number two spot after four weeks out in Japan. More Figure Based Nintendo Games Could Be Great

Posted on August 31, 2013 by Les Major

With the sad news that Pokémon Rumble U NFC figures aren’t coming to Canada it seems, I wanted to share my enthusiasm for more productions like this from Nintendo. For those who don’t know, these figures interact with your game by being placed on the Wii U Gamepad under the directional pad on that little rectangle icon. Originally drawing comparisons to Skylanders, these figures seem to add to your game instead of being the main focus of it. Pokémon Rumble U does not require figures for gamers to enjoy it. We haven’t had any hands on yet, so we’re not

No Pokemon Rumble U Figures in Canada

Posted on August 31, 2013 by Jason Nason

If you’re a Pokémon fan in Canada who just downloaded Pokémon Rumble U and are looking for some of the figures you’re about to be disappointed. The game, downloadable in the Nintendo Wii U eShop, features a similar collectible feature whereby gamers can purchase toys which can be scanned into the game. The game is the first to make use of the NFC technology built into the Wii U Gamepad. But if you make your way to your local video game retailer, or take a look online at Canadian etailers, you won’t find anything.

Need For Speed Franchise Now In The Hands of EA Ghost

Posted on August 30, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

EA’s premier racing franchise has had a bit of an identity crisis the past few years, switching from recent developer Criterion to other studios under the EA umbrella. It looks like a little bit of continuity will be coming to the franchise in future installments starting with the upcoming Need For Speed: Rivals thanks to developer EA Ghost.  Instead of switching between developers with every iteration of NFS, Ghost will handle development exclusively. It seems that EA is aware that the last few games have been met with mixed opinions, at least critically. 2010’s Need For Speed reboot was stylish

Posted on August 30, 2013 by Jason Nason

After yesterday’s release of the Grand Theft Auto V official trailer, Rockstar Games released a preview of the radio stations and music that will be found within the game when it is released in just a few weeks. The song heard in the trailer was also revealed after the company had a lot of requests for the track title. That song is called “Sleepwalking” from electronic band The Chain Gang of 1974. The track is embedded on Rockstar’s website. Designed to encompass the breadth of the modern L.A. music scene, GTAV’s soundtrack features 15 music stations, two stations of talk

Free games make the world go ‘round, okay maybe not but they make even the most bitter days just a little bit sweeter.  The next two free games in Microsoft’s ‘game with gold’ program have been announced as Ubisoft’s 2006 tactical shooter Rainbow Six: Vegas and the 2013 edition of Magic The Gathering. MTG will be available from September 1st through the 15th and Vegas will report for duty from Sept 15th through the 30th. Both titles require an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to be redeemed.
