Posted on November 11, 2013 by Jason Nason

The month of November has brought cooler temperatures and four hot new downloadable game rewards for Club Nintendo members, including Metroid! The game is one of two that are available for the Nintendo 3DS, the other is Dillon’s Rolling Western, a great indie title in its own right!! The two other games for the Nintendo Wii this month are WiiWare title Art Style: CUBELLO and Nintendo SNES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which is released just in time with the newest Zelda adventure coming to the 3DS in a few weeks. All four titles are

Pokémon X and Y | Review

Posted on November 9, 2013 by Jason Nason

It’s been a while since I’ve played a Pokémon game and I haven’t really played one since the original Pokémon Red way back in the day. Back when I picked up that game the craze in North America hadn’t yet begun. The television show wasn’t airing on television and kids weren’t gaga over trading cards. Heck, no one knew what the game was. Not even the guys at the video game store where I got my copy. The main reason why I grabbed the game was based on the description from a friend, another founding member of Darkain Arts Gamers.

The Guided Fate Paradox | Review

Posted on November 9, 2013 by Les Major

Taking a look at Celestia as the main focus instead of the Netherworld makes The Guided Fate Paradox a fresh and interesting title by the development team behind Disgaea. Much like the games setting, the system involved is unique as well. Technically you can think of this as angels and demons being trained differently, though you’re really training a new “god” in Guided Fate. Basically it seems like Celestia is looking for a new “god” to take over, and unlucky teenager Renya Kagurazaka has won a magical lottery that has chosen him as the new candidate to become “god” of

Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness | Review

Posted on November 8, 2013 by Les Major

Finally, celebrating ten years later, we have a sequel to the original Disgaea. This all new game focuses again on Laharl, Etna, and Flonne after the events of the original. If you enjoyed the first game, odds are you’ll enjoy this one as well. It’ll draw you in, get you addicted, and leave you wanting to do just a few more item world runs. The first thing I noticed about D2 is that the levels are well crafted. While this is nothing new for the series, they seem just as solid here. In some ways, the occasional one seems to

For the launch of Blizzcon 2013 today, it was revealed that World of Warcraft’s newest expansion would be Warlord of Draenor! I know what you’re thinking, you’ve already been to Outland. So what does the new expansion hold? Read on to see the animated announcement trailer and some of the details within.

Grand Theft Auto V | Review

Posted on November 8, 2013 by Jason Nason

Ever since I began playing video games so many years ago there is one game that I always wanted to play. My idea for an ideal game was one where you could live out a life as a character in a city or town. You could go anywhere and do pretty much anything. You could have a job, go to the store, drive around, talk with and interact with people and so much more. The Grand Theft Auto series is that game. I never played much of the original two titles but it was the franchise’s third game, which brought

Say Goodbye to Ubisoft’s UPlay ‘Service’

Posted on November 6, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Whether you call them ‘online passes’ or ‘services’ initiatives like Electronic Art’s Project ten dollar and Ubisoft’s U-Play platform have been despised by some in the gaming community for gating off content from those who buy their games used. It looks like Ubisoft is following in the footsteps of EA and cancelling their U-Play passport service as well as refunding all those who purchased the pass for use with a used copy of the recently released Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. If you’ve purchased a used copy of Black Flag keep reading! All of this seems to stem from the

PlayStation 3 Surpasses 80 Million Units

Posted on November 6, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Sony has sold a lot of PlayStation 3 consoles, 80 million worldwide as of November 2nd according to a recent press release from the console manufacturer. Pretty impressive considering the console launched in November 2006, on average they sold more than 11 million units a year! While everyone is talking about the PlayStation 4, sometimes it is important to look back and see what came before. Some major milestones outlined by Sony: The launch of PlayStation Plus – which has been providing discounts to PlayStation Store content for over 3 years. Who of course could forget the Instant Games Collection

PlayStation Network Will Be Down Tomorrow

Posted on November 6, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

The PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance tomorrow from 11am to 7pm Eastern Standard Time. If you’re planning to download the latest free PS Plus Games during this time you’re out of luck. Sony says that the online gameplay will still be functional, so your planned 7 hour marathon of Call of Duty: Ghosts can still go ahead. I wonder if this will be the last scheduled maintenance before Sony releases the PlayStation 4 next Friday, November 15th. Sony wrote the following on the PlayStation forums, outlining the scheduled maintenance: We wanted to take a moment to let everyone

Wii Mini Lands in US This Holiday Season

Posted on November 5, 2013 by Jason Nason

Over here in Canada we got the little red Wii Mini last year but the little system that could is making it’s debut in the United States this holiday season. Nintendo is launching the Wii mini console in the US and will only cost $99.99. Not only that but the system will come packed with Super Mario Kart Wii. When the system was released in Canada last December the console was released as a stand alone without a pack in game, although the Wii Mini started shipping in Canada with Mario Kart Wii as of September of this year. Nintendo Stops Swapnote

Posted on November 5, 2013 by Jason Nason

Just a few days ago Nintendo stopped some of the service for Swapnote, the visual message swapping service for the Nintendo 3DS. I must say that I’ve never SENT a swapnote though I have enjoyed receving the notes from Nintendo. The issue stems from some inappropriate message being sent through the service, which Nintendo can’t prevent. Take a look at the full text of the letter posted on Nintendo.com. The letter was also posted as an alert directly sent to 3DS systems.
