Posted on October 15, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

Live action trailers seem are all the rage right now in video games.  The latest company to hop on this live action train is Bethesda, for their much anticipated Fall out 4. The trailer covers all of the bases that fans of the series love. Nukes, Power Armor, and 50s nostalgia all feature prominently, as well as the new dog companion and a fair few enemies.  That’s about it, nothing new or exciting shows up in the trailer and its left to the audience to draw their own conclusions, much like the series itself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3IlHBBGCIw

Blizzard’s team based First Person Shooter Overwatch will have its first beta go live for select players on October IGN has reported. Like most of Blizzards initial beta tests this version of Overwatch is subject to change – including major system overhauls and is not open to the general public. In terms of features the initial offerings will include seven different maps and 18 different heroes for players to mess around with. Other major features include the inclusion of voice chat, spectator mode and custom games. It sounds like Blizzard is getting ready for Overwatch to explode onto the e-sports

Editorial: What’s in a game, how DLC stops me from buying what I love

Posted on October 14, 2015 by Fionna Schweit

After playing the Star Wars Battlefront beta I was 100% sold on purchasing the game. I planned to order the game through origin and pre-load to play day 1. Then came the announcement of a 50$ season pass DLC. I immediately found myself stuck in a major conundrum.  I am HUGE Star Wars fan girl, my love for the franchise extends far beyond the movies in to games, books, and even comics. So Battlefront should have been a guaranteed sale for me. However I found myself hesitating, the game itself is 60$, a fully priced AAA game from one of

EA’s plant based third person shooter Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare received a huge update today with the release of the free Legends of the Lawn DLC.  Sporting a brand new game mode, new character variations and 200 new customization options this latest batch of DLC might just bring players sprouting back to the battlefield.. errr lawn. The Taco Bandits game mode is a variation on Capture the Flag where the Zombies team must steal the titular taco from Crazy Dave’s taco stand… and bring it back to a UFO. Okay, that is a little more off the wall than

The latest bit of news is to say the least controversial, EA today through a series of tweets confirmed there will be no “ingame” chat in Battle Front. Humble Capcom Bundle Launched

Posted on October 13, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

You better have your shoryuken memorized because this latest Humble Bundle is sure to land a dragon punch on you if you are not prepared for it. The Humble Capcom Bundle includes a number of different titles from several classic Capcom franchises. Personally I think even the pay what you can tier of $1 is worth it for Episode 1 of Resident Evil: Relations 2 alone. On top of that all those who buy into the bundle will receive Strider, Lost Planet 3 and Bionic Commando Armed. That’s a ton of hours of entertainment for only a buck, to be

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – Next Chapter Theorized

Posted on October 13, 2015 by Kenny Keelan

There is one hell of a dedicated group over on reddit that seems to have finally broken ground on what they believe to be hints towards a third chapter to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. There’s already evidence of this in the fact that cinematics and storyboards are already out there regarding a mission that cannot be played in the game proper but no one can confirm whether or not that content is to be seen in some kind of official next chapter or if it was just something that was left on the cutting room floor that wasn’t cleaned

Allison Road Leaves Kickstarter and Picked Up by Team17

Posted on October 13, 2015 by Kenny Keelan

In kind of a quirky turn of events, studio Team17 has decided to back the indie game Allison Road, which looks to pick up where PTs seems to have left off. This may be a good run for the studio who has been known, for quite some time, now, as the studio well known for the Worms franchise – a Scorched Earth spinoff that featured worms and lasted way, way, way too long – as they’ve also backed Yooka-Laylee and seem to want an identity away from that. This is good for both developers Lilith Ltd. and Team17 as Allison Road has the exact same kind of atmospheric

EA’s Star Wars Battlefront Beta Surpassed 9 Million Users

Posted on October 13, 2015 by Kenny Keelan

Whether they jumped on for a short time and hated it or loved it and stuck it through the entire beta phase, the game’s senior producer, Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir, revealed the the beta is officially the largest open beta in Electronic Arts history by accruing over nine million active users through the course of its tenure. Considering that a lot of Star Wars franchise fans have been salivating for a Battlefront game for a very, very long time, now, this isn’t entirely surprising. What is surprising, however, is the mixed responses it’s gotten from those who have played. While there are reports
