UK Sales Charts For The Week of Jan 2nd Dominated By Black Ops III

Posted on January 4, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Black Ops III
Our first games sales numbers to include the post holiday discount period have arrived thanks to the weekly UK software charts. Not surprising several AAA franchise compose the top ten including EA’s Star Wars Battlefront, Activision’s Call of Duty and Bethesda softwork’s Fallout 4. What is a little surprising is to see Just Cause 3 crack into the top ten – currently occupying the 8th place. Considering that game was released so late in the pre-holiday season (early December) it is encouraging to see it ahead of Forza Motorsport 6 and just behind the latest Assassin’s Creed. Here are top

The Legend of Dark Witch 2 | Review

Posted on January 4, 2016 by Jason Nason

It was just over a year ago that I sat here reviewing the original The Legend of Dark Witch. I enjoyed that game and it got a pretty good review as a result. The game was simple, solid, and fun to play. You’ll find more of the same in the sequel here, with a ton more jam packed into the game. The Legend of Dark Witch 2: The Price of Desire takes place after the events of the first game. Syega is a miraculous stone that allows humans to use magic. Many research its powers and develop new uses. Magic

PS4 Hacked to run Linux and pokemon

Posted on January 4, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Hacking things in 2016 seems to be the theme of January, a group of hackers manage to bypass the PlayStation 4 security measures and install a custom Linux OS and start playing a modded version of Pokemon Emerald. Ill get right to it here is the video. Sony has had its fare share of interesting console homebrew. I myself recall having a PSP 1000 with custom firmware, and years after the operational lifetime of the PS2 was over, folks kept theirs around in order to mod and use them. The FailOverflow group has written a custom version of Linux for the console

“Please Understand”: Nintendo is failing Pokemon fans abroad

Posted on January 4, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Am I mad?  Probably? Why you ask? Because I was told that if I wrote an article about something I was mad about it would get published on this site. Now if you ask why I would ever feel an urge to have anything published on this site the only compelling answer anyone could possibly give is that they are a twisted person. Anyways, I’m Szko and I’ll be your rage columnist this evening. So what am I mad about? I’m mad about all the god damn Pokémon events Japan gets that other countries do not. I’ve been a Pokémon

Check Out This Stunning 4K Star Citizen Short Film

Posted on January 4, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Star Citizen
Star Citizen is one of those games that I’ve kind of been keeping an eye on for some time. Despite not actually owning it, I’ll still find myself going to YouTube and watching footage from the latest PTU patches and additions as well as read the developer’s announcements simply because the game’s scope and aesthetic fascinate me. Enter some absolutely drop dead gorgeous gameplay curtesy of YouTuber Xenthor Xi. While some of the scenes in this 8 minute 4K demonstration are rather mundane – watching Xenthor’s ship landing or it’s pilot eject into the emptiness of the void are not

Ever Wanted To Build a $30,000 Computer? Because This Guy Did It!

Posted on January 3, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

What is your dream computer? I bet it’s nothing like the computer that Linustech built that cost a whopping $30,000 USD. Comprised of seven individual systems housed in one giant case it is an entire LAN Party contained in one giant box. In all honesty if you wanted to build a single PC comprised of most of the parts that Linustech used it wouldn’t cost the down payment on a house.  Each individual system is powered by an Intel Xenon Processor – which is a server class processor most game players wouldn’t put into their rig, a top end AMD

Hackers Get Full Windows 95 To Work On New 3DS

Posted on January 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Nintendo 3DS Windows
Only one day after the new year we’re going to party like it’s… 1995? A clever hacker has gotten Microsoft’s two decade only operating system Windows 95 to run on Nintendo’s New 3DS according to a post on console modification forum GBATMP.  RetroRampage37 released a rough build of the Windows 95 hack and certainly it fill our minds with the idea of playing older DOS games on Nintendo’s handheld. As of right now the hack does not appear to work on the original 3DS but to be sure the community is working on it. As for the utility of this

It looks like Major League Gaming, commonly known as MLG, the e-sports pioneer and tournament organizer has been sold to publisher Activision Blizzard according to esports observer. In a December 21st  meeting MLG’s  Board of Directors approved an asset sale worth $46 million USD essentially gutting the one time e-sports king. Individual stock holders were notified via written letter sent out on December 22nd. If I’m reading the excerpt of the letter that has been released, $31 million from the sale has been used to pay off large debts that have been accrued by Major League Gaming. CEO of MLG

Rumor: Distribution Agreement The Reason PSO2 Has Yet To Reach Western Shores

Posted on January 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Phantasy Star Online 2
Could a single contract be responsible for Phantasy Star Online 2 not seeing a western release despite the huge success of Free-to-Play MMORPGs?  According to a source speaking anonymously to SEGA fan site TSSZ Beyond Blue, this is indeed the case. This particular agreement is speculated to be between SEGA of Japan and Gamania Digital Entertainment, it is said that SEGA is barred from publishing PSO2 on any distribution platform and not just Valve’s Steam – which has been their mainstay for PC ports. For western fans of the long dormant series there may yet be hope – the agreement

AMDs Next Generation GPU Architecture Codenamed “Polaris”

Posted on January 1, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

AMD’s next round of graphics cards, presumably to be released under the Radeon 400 series moniker, will be powered by the company’s next generation architecture codenamed “Polaris”. Currently AMD’s graphics cards, as well as the graphics processors used in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, are powered by the GCN framework (graphics card next) originally introduced in 2011 with the Trinity APU line and Radeon 7000 series. This latest leak regarding the Polaris architecture comes from well-known graphics card insider @GFXChipTweeter who tweets a lot of information about graphics card advancement and in particular AMD related technologies.
