Valve Found Guilty for Breaking Australian Law

Posted on March 29, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

An Australian court has found Valve is in violation of Australian consumer protection law by  not having a refund policy in place for Australia. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), has ruled that Valve had no refund policy in place which ran contrary to Australian Consumer law. This has since been corrected but this suit was filed in August 2014 before the current policy was put in place. Valves main defense was that it does not sell consumer good in Australia rather its selling a digital product, and that product comes from their headquarters in Washington state. The Australian

Consider Who Could Be There: Harassment in VR

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Renee Gittins

Today marks the official launch of the Oculus Rift, a high quality virtual reality headset with dozens of games to enjoy. As an avid fan and enthusiast for the medium, I am beyond excited for today. However, I am not going to gush about my love of VR in this article, I am writing it to talk about a rather unpleasant experience: I was harassed in virtual reality.

CCP Games Unleashes EVE: Valkyrie Launch Trailer

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

CCP Games has unleashed the launch trailer for their immersive spaceship combat title EVE: Valyrie which is exclusively available for the Oculus Rift. Owen O’brien, the game’s executive producer, reflects on the journey the team has been on to bring the game to market. He remembers trying on his first modern VR headset three years ago and how the technology has advanced since then. In part O’Brien wrote: “I’m incredibly proud of what the team here in Newcastle have created, but what we have built is not an end in itself. Rather, it’s a basecamp to start from. Where we

Witch & Hero II | Review

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Jason Nason

The original Witch & Hero was the second game I reviewed a few years back and I loved it. The game was the model of simplicity, both in approach and gameplay. Born from the look of the old school 8-bit era of games, Witch & Hero looked and felt like a game that could have been around when I was a kid. Witch & Hero II takes everything that the original did so well and builds on it. Everything from the original game is intact, but the sequel has more meat. The game takes place years after the events of

Overwatch weekly brawls dug up by data miners

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

If you are not in the Overwatch beta (like me) then you probably missed the most recent set of patch notes which added a new mode similar to Hearthstone’s tavern brawl. Now data miners have found a cache of data which seems to name all of the brawls that will be playable. Lets get right to it here is what Overpwn found Super Shimada Bros.: Welcome to Hanamura. Genji and Hanzo only. Faster abilities, slower ultimates. Mystery Heroes: On death you will respawn as a randomly selected hero. Justice Rains From Above: Pharah and Mercy take to the skies. Arcade: More

User gets connected to two separate League of Legends games at once

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Reddit user /u/popingheads has posted a video to the League of Legends subreddit showing his champion getting placed in to two separate matches at the same time. Its as odd as you might think. Both of the matches seem to feature the same 10 players. While Popingheads team plays in one game, the other team seems to be playing in the other. So which on is the right one? Only Riot knows, and I doubt they will be telling anyone any time soon. The user also provided this end of game screenshot as additional proof that there were two games, and provides

Space Grunts | Review

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Robyn Robo

Space Grunts is a lovely little game available now on Steam for PC/Linux/Windows, the Humble Store, Apple’s App Store & Google Play. For this article I reviewed it on Linux. The game was released cross-platform at the end of February. The one-man development team, Orange Pixel, has a track record of creating simple cross-platform action games. This game is similar to those in of its action-oriented screen shaking chibi-pixel style. It is unique, however, in of that it’s a turn based rogue like with a light strategy bent. Like its predecessors’, Space Grunts is a straightforward game at face value,

Kirby: Planet Robobot new side game videos

Posted on March 27, 2016 by Jason Nason

Nintendo and HAL Laboratory’s upcoming Kirby: Planet Robobot doesn’t come out until June 10th, but the game is nearing its release at the end of next month in Japan. While there aren’t a lot of information on Nintendo of America’s website yet (no official site has launched, just the game page) there is a full site over at Nintendo of Japan. While I can’t read what any of it says, there are a few fun videos that were just updated which show two subgames. In case you’re not sure what this game is about, here’s the plot of the main

Those NX leaks were all fake

Posted on March 26, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

It was too good to be true, the NX news which we reported on last week  has been exposed as  fake. The images which were first revealed in this reddit post have been revealed to be fake. Their creator took to youtube to discuss how he managed to create the 3D printed “prototype” In the video which is right after the jump you can see his whole design process and how he took the current bevy of rumors and synthesized them in to the “leaked prototype”

The divisions first raid is on the way

Posted on March 26, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

The Division
Last week Ubisoft made a ton of changes to their online shooter RPG The Division, but in the end of their change log they also did something else. Teased new end game content, which I hope is the end game raid that they discussed previously. The exact statement was “Coming soon, we will be introducing new end-game activities, You say you want more info? Don’t worry, we’ll talk more about this big upcoming update within the next few days.” So we didn’t actually get anything, but Ubisoft has previously told us quite a bit, and this might have nailed down the

ARK: Survival of the Fittest Video Interview With Jesse Rapczak

Posted on March 25, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Studio Wildcard, the minds behind last year’s smash Steam hit ARK: Survival Evolved have taken the concepts from their first prehistoric title and fashioned what they call a M.O.S.A or Multiplayer Online Survival Arena. Ark Survival of the Fittest pits a number of different players in  Survival Evolves‘ world map and gives them a limited number of time to craft weapons, tame dinosaurs all in a bid to be the last one standing. We got a chance to sit down and talk with Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak about the challenges of adapting the ARK world to this new game type, how tamable dinosaurs

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games | Review

Posted on March 25, 2016 by Jason Nason

Did you ever have something in a game that really rubs you the wrong way and no matter what you do you can’t get passed it? It scan be a small thing, which isn’t even that big of a deal. But it just angers you every time you think of it? I had that with Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s not a big thing and by no mean breaks the game. I’ll get to exactly what that is later on in the review. (If you follow me on Miiverse you’ll already
