Slain! | Review

Posted on March 31, 2016 by Robyn Robo

The new platformer / smash’em’up “Slain!” is the first release of its developer Wolf Brew Games. “Slain!” was KickStarted exactly a year before its release to a figure just shy of $20,000. It is currently out on Windows, Linux and Mac via Steam, with releases planned for WiiU, Xbox One, PS4 & Vita in June. The game is a retro style platformer with some light puzzle elements and very much in the style of many older “hardcore gamer” games. It has more in common with Castlevania or Ghouls & Goblins than it does with Super Mario World. This means it

PolyRace races in for a review

Posted on March 30, 2016 by Erika

PolyRace logo-d
PolyRace may seem like a deceptively basic and easy racing game at first glance, but it provides enough variety to be able to play though and try for the best times while not trying to crash and burn. After starting the game up and customizing the controls to my liking, I fired up a training mission to get a feel for the overall game. With a fresh game, the player is limited in their options for choosing hover-cars, difficulty, and track type. As one progresses though Missions, those will unlock, which gives decent variety for running through races.   One

Rocket League to get basketball mode

Posted on March 30, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Fan favorite Rocket League recently added morphs to their game, allowing players a fine grain of control over how the ball behaved, what shape it was, how much force boost had, and several other options. Included in these options was an icy preset for a hockey mode, which got me wondering, what else can we play with rocket cars? Well Psyonix has taken that answer to the next level announcing that this April they will be releasing a basketball mode for Rocket League. Did the plot of Mass Effect Andromeda leak in a Survey?

An EA marketing survey may have just exposed the plot for Mass Effect Andromeda. Take this with a grain of salt because this comes from screengrabs posted by NeoGAF user anexanhume. NeoGAF is often responsible for false or just plain faked information on upcoming games and system, so take the following images with a grain of salt. SPOILERS BE AHEAD (potentially) so click the jump if you want to see them

Tracer’s Butt and Why I’m Okay with the “Over the Shoulder” Pose

Posted on March 29, 2016 by Renee Gittins

A recent post on the Overwatch forums has sparked a controversy over how one of Overwatch‘s star characters, Tracer, is represented in the game. The thread started as a complain from a player who claimed that Tracer’s “Over the Shoulder” pose was too sexualized for the character and is in opposition to Tracer’s spunky personality. They claim this sexualization of Tracer reduces her depth as a strong female character to “another bland female sex symbol”. As many of our readers know, I am very outspoken for proper representation and consideration for women in games. I completely agree that sexualization of
